  1. March 12 session will be run by Marcus Hoehn. Marcus is the Head Coach at KY State Powerhouse Union County and was a Big 12 champion for the Mizzou Tigers.
  2. Brute has a shoe called the Xplode that we sold with alot of success this year. They are bringing out a wide version of that shoe for this fall. Not sure how wide but you may look into that next season. and to all of you who buy Nike Wrestling shoes....shame on you. Check out the link and remember this...OREGON WRESTLING is gone forever. http://awn.theopenmat.com/2012/03/we-have-not-forgot-nike/

  5. I know that football gets up to 75 medals.
  6. im sure the delay has something to do with this sudden infusion of Track Wrestling. Its seems to have some positives and negatives for sure.
  7. heres what Im wondering.....why in the HECK would someone want to give another team bulletin board material and put a target on their kids backs?? doesn't make any sense to me and I'm quite certain that the coaching staff of this particular school does not and will never condone such a thing. Let everyone else talk about how great their kids are. We would rather fly under the radar!
  8. mhs 39 chs 24 military appreciation night.
  9. I heard from a pretty reliable source that attendance was between 1300-1500. I also know that the expenses were more than $5k. That being said, I'm with Y2 in saying that the IHSWCA needs to think big and try to find a place like this for the event IF its possible. Im sure the powers that be want the event to be as nice as possible so Im sure things like that have been and will be looked into. That place looks awsome for sure.
  10. If anybody is interested, Brute is making a fantastic sublimated fight short that we have sold to about 20-25 Indiana programs this year. Every order has custom artwork and every order has been delivered on time in the time frame quoted. OH...and we will answer our phone.... And we support the IHSWCA events etc etc. Brute just donated $1400 worth of sublimated shirts to the IHSWCA Team State Duals event as a corporate sponsor. I dont care if you use my company (EI Sports in Evansville) or Jims Wrestling Supply....just please use Indiana based companies who support the sport and have the same love for the sport that you do. I cannot tell you how many horror stories I have heard from coaches on both CG and CF on issues like this. Basically it seems orders are placed but seem to never show up. ok...im off my soapbox now.
  11. Memorial did NOT beat HH at 170 today.

  13. I Know UC was missing Blackwell at the Harrison 10 Way and the lineup was probably different. I also know Memorial was missing some starters at MD. UC is a much better tournament team than Memorial with the elite kids that they have. Memorial is a good dual meet team with decent kids in all weight classes. UC wrestled extremely well at MD and Memorial wrestled extremely well at Harrison. It happens. Congrats to UC on a great tournament.
  14. Boys and Girls....Ive been around a LONG time and this years MDHC is as loaded as I have ever seen it. The seeding meeting was bloody. There are going to be some OUTSTANDING matches!! If your a SW Indiana wrestling fan you need to come out and watch this event this year. The semifinals are gonna be unreal.
  15. The IHSAA state finals is the end of the wrestling season. The IHSAA would NEVER allow this to happen and any attempt to push it would set back the IHSWCA relationship with the IHSAA ten years. That simply is against the rules and is not an option. Secondly, moving a conference tournament would take an act of congress. The AD's if the schools in the Conferences that have the conference tournaments two weeks before the sectionals are not going to be happy about even attempting to reschedule something like this. Remember, this is wrestling....not basketball. I know that all of these options sound great and make ton of sense. I also know that the IHSWCA looked into every one of these options and the fact is the IHSWCA hands are VERY tied on most of these options. Im sure they will do what they can to improve on the process but I know substantial change will be very difficult. Thanks again to all who worked so hard on the event. By the way...just saw Django Unchained.....great flick!!!!
  16. heres a simple question for all the naysayers about this event and how the qualifying was done. In the IHSAA system, did the best 8 teams get bids every year? The answer is NO. Not even close. If the top three ranked teams were in the same sectional, only one had a shot. Every years there was one regional in particular that many of us would look at and say..."man, wish we had that path to team state". The fact is no system is perfect. No system will ever be perfect. I personally think the IHSWCA system is better in one way in that it at least allowed more than one team from the same semi-state or regional based on the wildcard entries. One could say that the Class system, along with the WIldcard entries got a higher percentage of deserving teams to a team state event than the IHSAA system ever did. Bottom line is that we would all rather qualify in the same year, and do it on the mat, but we are not able to make that work with the current situation. The IHSWCA did a fabulous job of getting 24 great teams there and ran a great event. Were there 36 teams capable of being there?? HECK YES...but not everyone could go. My team was fortunate enough to qualify and we had a great time. We may never qualify again, but we did this time. This system will allow more teams to qualify and thats good for the sport. Its what the coaches all wanted. NO its NOT perfect....but its pretty good. As for those who say its not a state championship....tell Perry, Yorktown, and Adams Central that. I have been to MANY dual meet events in my career. I can tell you I have never seen it mean as much to the teams who were there that I saw last weekend. The atmosphere was electric in the entire venue. Our semifinal match vs Culver was an unbelievable atmosphere and the Busco semifinal next to us was crazy also. Alot of wrestling fans had alot of fun last weekend and our sport is better off this week because of this event. It brought wrestling together a little more. We now know that we have something to build on. Our runner up trophy may not say IHSAA but its says IHSWCA and its the best we got at this time. I would rather have this event than not have this event. Our program is very proud to say we were part of this event and to our kids and the 23 other teams there Saturday, this WAS our team state championship for this season. A big huge thanks to the IHSWCA for making this happen. I also want to congratulate Yorktown on a 2A state title and say that the staffs and kids at Southmont and Culver are class acts. They have tough as nails kids and it was awesome getting to compete against schools from out of our area in a tough environment. I hope we are fortunate to qualify every year. Then again...a little turnover is good and Im sure the 8 teams that get in each year will qualify based on the current system and will be very competitive.
  17. big, bad, and ugly up and down the lineup!! haha
  18. hahahahaha...your kidding right??? this is typical of the IHSAA. what a joke. ok so they are gonna wrestle 3 additional matches per weight at each level to find out the alternate instead of wrestling 4 additional matches per weight at each level and send the true top four? WOW. I am not blaming them because I know how the IHSAA works but can we hear from somebody on the this coaches panel who reviewed the state tournament series who can explain how this went down?? Sounds like somebody swung and missed. Can we go back and explain that while we are very appreciative for the gesture...can we do this instead?

  21. Norths new gym is really nice and Coach Asay and his staff are top notch, but Castle does a tremendous job with the conference, sectional, and regional. They take care of the wrestlers and coaches and the set up is great for the events. As far as income, the only income they make from those events is the concessions. All gate money goes to the IHSAA during the state tournament. I for one hope Castle hosts forever. For many of us, it is a southern indiana wrestling tradition. AND...it certainly isnt broke so no need to try to fix it.
  22. Coaches- After taking a year off due to the "split" away from Brute, ADIDAS Wrestling is back with a limited offering of uniforms for the 2012-2013 season. If you need some inexpensive singlets, this is a great opportunity. The Adidas as101s solid singlet (available in black, navy, red, and royal ONLY) can be purchased from EI Sports and Apparel, now through the end of the month of September for only $23.00 each. This is a "stock" singlet. Solid color, lightweight lycra, with the Adidas logo on the lower right leg. PERFECT for youth clubs, elementary teams, even middle school teams who are on a budget and need singlets. Give me a call or email if we can help with anything at all. eisports@sigecom.net Thanks. Jeff Schaefer
