I voted for ayresman vs cambell. Being from the region it was exciting watching him come back in the third period. I'm sure he put some miles in his running shoes during the off-season as well as during the season.
My answer would be to call it earlier. I think the refs at the state tournament probably have a good idea of how much time is left in a match.
Stalling has never been consistently called in our state and I don't think that will ever change. I guess the correct answer would be for the bottom wrestler to work harder and get out. If you want to wrestler at the next level ie college you have to be able to get out from the bottom position.
I especially don't like when they call it with under 15 seconds for the first time knowing that they are not going to call it again. I remember one match when the top wrestler was in the same position for 1:45 seconds of the third period and got called for stalling with 13 seconds left.

This is very cool and should make the state finals a little more interesting. I just hope I did my math correct.
They will probably be held back to repeat the 8th grade. Not sure on those specific kids but I know it will probably surprise you how often it happens. I personally would not hold my kids back just to let them mature another year.
That's why we wrestle the matches.
I also believe that a huge part of high school wrestling is the mental part. Many kids have already lost prior to the match.
Often times we (fans out of high school) forget that these are only kids many of them from 14-18 yo. There is alot of pressure on them and it's nice to see them have fun.
I will definitely be rooting for both girls to go to state. But their biggest obstacle is this is the age where boys start to become stronger than the girls. I know this is not true for everyone but boys that she was as strong as or stronger than in 2007 are now stronger than her.
OK I did misread it. I think most coaches would welcome a transfer or pre-high school move as long as it was done correctly and for the right reasons.
The mid season transfer is another story and that has been beaten to death I don't think we have to comment on that anymore.
I don't think it's necessary to call anyone out by name. I also don't think you have seen any tsirtsis or Maldonado for that matter transfer in middle of their high school careers. I am pretty sure that their is not any more maldonados left in high school.
I consider myself a numbers guy and like stats. This is what makes this site great. I'm stuck at work and can't make it to regionals but I can still entertain myself by reading and waiting for updates to come in.
After watching cp several times this year I think they are going to win and bring the trophy back to the region. But it would not be a major upset if md or md won.
I don't necessarily think that's a bad draw from a fans point of view. You get a good first round match and still a potential good finals dual. Imagine if all three were on the same side of the bracket.
I still think cp wins.
