  1. Who won between brownsburg and Avon? I was giving my best guess based on the info I could find for each of the schools. I'll move brownsburg/avon into 7/8 spots. Who should be first?
  2. I took 2 minutes and plugged the 6 teams I mentioned (minus Whitko) into a spreadsheet and ran my Sagarin/Elo Chess rank system on them just from these 2-4 matches per team. The computer spits out Carroll, Homestead, South Adams, Dwenger, Garrett, then AC. Again, I'll wait a little longer, but I'll probably change 4-8 to that order (AC is the odd one out).
  3. Why are Dwenger and Adams Central not in this list also? AC beat you guys and Dwenger beat AC. Since Whitko hasn't lost to any of these teams yet (though clearly they're not strides ahead), I'll keep them #3 and wait to see what you or other posters add about the rest. You're not confusing me. I don't have access to all the results you do. It's fun to have a list that's correct--not just a list.
  4. I knew it was between the two of them most likely, but I struggled to find sufficient results for either of them--until I read your post. Then, I went back and searched again and found more significant results that suggest you're correct. It's changed above.
  5. You're right. I made a mistake. I was thinking they had finished ahead of them in an invitational. Thanks for the help!
  6. Whitko has at least one victory with no defeats against the massive group of 6 below them (see my post above this). This is all I can go on. All the others in the group have losses amongst themselves. What data do you have about Munster? They've lost or finished behind everyone above them, and had more success with common opponents or finished ahead in tournaments against everyone listed below them. I tried to go strictly on results, not my opinion. Let me know what you've got. thanks!
  7. So in summary: Dwenger over Adams Central (x2) Adams Central over Garrett Garrett over Carroll Carroll over Dwenger/Homestead Homestead over South Adams South Adams over Garrett/Adams Central Wow. So far this would mean Dwenger, Carroll, South Adams all 2-1; Homestead 1-1; Garrett 1-2; and Adams Central 1-3 (in this group of 6). I'll leave it how it is for now until the rest of the inevitable results come in. Should be a couple of exciting sectionals!
  8. ...and pretty much everyone else the whole season. I mentioned this in another thread: Clark was neck and neck with state champion Nathan Peterson at 112 for state supremacy his junior year, then got upset in the quarters and couldn't revisit their rivalry. He beat Peterson during the year. His senior year drop to 103 was a joke. No one even came remotely close, including Macke in a previous attempt, until the state championship match. I agree that some forget how tough Hartman was as a senior, but he was not like Clark.
  9. UPDATED: Now that I've seen all the results necessary to finish the Genius ratings, here are my final opinions about each team regional's top teams. The "favorites" star (*) doesn't mean those are necessarily my personal pick to win sectional, but they are the team I feel has done the most to deserve the ranking or "favorite" label. The 8 Team Regionals (star* indicates a sectional favorite): Portage: 1.Crown Point* 2.Merrillville* 3.Portage* 4.Kankakee Valley 5.Munster* 6.Chesterton 7.Lake Central 8.Calumet Jimtown: 1.Mishawaka* 2.Penn 3.SB Clay 4.Elkhart Memorial* 5.Jimtown 6.Goshen 7.SB Riley 8.DeKalb* Also favorite: Warsaw* Adams Central: 1.Yorktown* 2.Bellmont* 3.Whitko* 4.Carroll 5.Homestead* 6.Garrett 7.FW Dwenger 8.South Adams Peru: 1.McCutcheon* 2.W. Lafayette Harrison 3.Huntington North* 4.Delphi 5.Lafayette Jeff 6.Peru 7.Marion* 8.Southwood Also favorite: Logansport* North Montgomery: 1.Cathedral* 2.Lawrence North 3.Carmel* 4.North Central 5.Westfield 6.Hamilton Southeastern 7.Zionsville 8.Alexandria* Also favorite: Fountain Central* Greencastle: 1.Perry Meridian* 2.Bloomington South* 3.Franklin* 4.Center Grove 5.Pike 6.Ben Davis 7.Brownsburg* 8.Avon Seymour: 1.New Palestine* 2.Roncalli 3.Warren Central 4.New Castle* 5.Jennings County* 6.Columbus North 7.South Dearborn* 8.Beech Grove Jasper: 1.Evansville Reitz* 2.Evansville Mater Dei 3.Castle* 4.Jeffersonville* 5.Evansville Memorial 6.Heritage Hills 7.Princeton 8.Jasper*
  10. That would essentially be a "Top team from each sectional" ranking. Just a little different from what I was wanting to do. I understand what you mean though.
  11. PLEASE IGNORE THESE PREVIOUS RATINGS and go to "Team Regional Rankings (version 2.0)" topic The 8 Team Regionals: Portage: 1.Crown Point 2.Merrillville 3.Portage 4.Kankakee Valley 5.Munster Jimtown: 1.Mishawaka 2.Penn 3.SB Clay 4.Goshen 5.Elkhart Memorial Adams Central: 1.Yorktown 2.Bellmont 3.Whitko 4.South Adams 5.Adams Central Peru: 1.Delphi 2.McCutcheon 3.Lafayette Jeff 4.W. 12. This was a mistake on the update string. The rankings guy, as usual, has it right.
  13. Taken from a discussion thread: Individual champions: 103 Garret Braiser East Central 112 Aaron Davis Roncalli 119 Josh Kieffer Roncalli 125 Justin Kieffer Roncalli 130 Joe Kieffer Roncalli 135 Nick Ulrey New Palestine 140 JR Corman New Palestine 145 Kyle Rielding New Palestine 152 Jaymes Horan New Palestine 160 Jake Jennings New Palestine 171 Mike Phelps New Palestine 189 Jacob Poynter New Palestine 215 Sam Balbach Mount Vernon 285 Kaden Suter Martinsville
  14. Missouri is always well represented in national rankings and national tournament results. It's not like Kentucky. If they're ranked highly in Missouri, they're for real.
  15. Here are most of the match scores from ranked schools at these three big tournaments today: At Bellmont: Mishawaka 40-13 Castle Mishawaka 49-12 Bellmont Perry Meridian 37-18 Castle Castle 28-27 Bellmont Mishawaka 47-12 Perry Meridian Castle 35-22 Penn Perry Meridian 34-29 Bellmont Perry Meridian 47-19 Penn In Missouri: Mater Dei 31-29 Merrillville Merrillville 34-29 Farmington, MO At Franklin: Holt, MI 36-19 Jeffersonville Yorktown 46-21 Franklin Holt, MI 25-16 Franklin Yorktown 39-28 Holt, MI Franklin 28-24 Jeffersonville Yorktown 36-25 Jeffersonville
  16. The rule is very clear on one thing only: the offensive wrestler has full responsibility to return his opponent to the mat safely and under control. After that, it's always a judgment. Some officials go by the rule of thumb that they want to see the offensive wrestler's own knee(s) go to the mat before his opponent hits the mat (thus theoretically reducing the force), but this doesn't guarantee a safe return necessarily. Nor does the opponent hitting the mat before the knees of the offensive wrestler mean a slam for sure. It's all about the force and/or control involved.
  17. That's only 13 matches... I get it now. Both got DQ'd. No points for either...plus they lose team points. Hence, only 13 results. Interesting final score.
  18. Sorry...I should have said it's not possible without unsportsmanlike penalties. Holt having 9 decisions and 2 unsportsmanlike penalties coupled with 4 decisions and a major by Franklin is also possible. I'm guessing it was a typo though. I've never seen a high school match come within even 5 points of the minimum (42) at any level in any state.
  19. Thanks for the updates! Keep 'em coming!
  20. 25-16? That's not mathematically possible. Was it 35-16?
  21. Y2, this stuff is great, by the way. You're not texting in vain. We're eating it up.
  22. Indiana has these inclusions. Each weight rated between 17 and 24 kids. #5 Wright at 125 #8 Tsirtsis at 130 #12 MacMurray at 152 #11 Duckworth at 171 I think Phillips at 103, Porras at 140, Roach at 145, Bennet and Stahl at 152, and Stevenson at 189 are all potentials for a list like this. I guess they don't have enough national accomplishments??
