1999 Carr vs Harper at 160 was in the vein of the Maurer/Dolly match--low-scoring but tons of action. Returning state runner-up vs returning state champ. Arguably the top 2 in the state pound-for-pound that year. Inarguably 2 of the top 5. Both go on to D1 careers.
Harper comes back mid-season from a significant injury and is probably wrestling up a weight. Carr takes a phenomenal match at the Al Smith in Harper's return. Wawasee came out of Fort Wayne back then, the draw fell right, so their second match was under the lights.  Starts at 19:20 here (189 and 275 are also overtime matches that year, by the way):
 

Current UFC #14 featherweight in the world, Darren Elkins of Portage, over eventual NAIA national champ, Charlie Pingleton of Greencastle, in a wild, back-and-forth 10-9 championship decision at 140 in 2004 was just as heart-stopping as a few of the more recent high-scoring results under the lights.

Maybe I am getting old, but isn't that why some of us joined (were forced) wrestling?  So, we could 'work it out', not get suspended, and if you whipped everyone you got a trophy and a letter jacket...  7th grade - Paul Stem, assistant principal, escorted me into the wrestling meeting before classes started.  The rest is history.

So i see on Twitter that tonight at Purduev IU at Mackey Madness that these  2   Illinois schools are wrestling.  I see on Illinois Mat Men's web site that Washington is #1 in 2A  with quite a few high ranked wrestlers,  Hoopeston has 1 high ranked and few on the board. Gezzhhh  Washington is almost 3 hours away.  So  my question is,  wouldn't it create ALOT more buzz if there were 2 IN highly ranked teams competing in WL inside of Mackey Arena? Or does anyone have incite about schedule conflict? OR is PU recruiting someone?  Im going to try to make it,  but I would dif make a better attempt if it were say Brownsburg/Washington,  BB any top 20 IN team.    

Yip   can't wait to see Parris/Stevenson at Flo or some other tournament

I've missed the last 2 years,  so what time does the parade start,,,,,   my 10 year old nephew just told my sister he wants to wrestle,, soooo i am excited to get to take him to see The Show tomorrow!!   and i don't want him to miss the Parade!

well i could not make  state this weekend for the first time time in 20 years,,,   so too thoughs of you that were there,,  what was your "best" story of the finals?    Congrats to al that wrestled hard and placed or made the show,   a lot of hard working kids do not make it,,,,,,   BE proud of what you have accomplished!!     Sooo   what story was the "best"?
