I heard that they were not pulling from other Regionals to fill out the brackets at Semi State. Only 4 from each Regional will advance, regardless if not enough girls from the other Regionals.

I have been lucky to coach my brothers at River Forest, a set of cousins at Griffith, another set of cousins at Andrean. People keep wondering why I bounced around from school to school, family was the main reason and then it became all about the kids needing my help at other schools.

Is there an updated page that has a list of which high schools are hosting a girl's tournament this season? Starting a program at Knox and would like to get a proposed schedule to our AD to get approved by the school board. Julio

I saw a recent documentary that talked about travel ball and elite camps ruining high school sports. It mostly talked about how these endeavors were strictly money making machines and produce few results by the number of participants. It goes on and says that when the kids go to these it is about trying to show what you got instead of trying to become a better athlete. Mostly talked about so called team sports, baseball, football, basketball. -

Here is the secret, most of you will not like it but I try to fix a problem not complain about it. Keep Sectionals the same date. Move Regionals to the following Wednesday, it is only 3 rounds. Semi-State is the week of Regionals State is the week of Semi State, 1 week before All Star Weekend and rooms are not $500. You want it in the best Venue for the kids, this is the way to do it. But like I said, people will complain instead of coming up with a solution.

It won't cost $500 for a hotel room.

People are going to complain regardless of where it is held. There is a way to have it in Indy, but the IHSAA and IHSWCA don't want to hear about it.

Actually 2 hrs to New Castle for me would not be 5 hours for anyone in the state. I think even Evansville could get there faster than 5 hours.

Somebody should call Dollar General Headquarters, with all the new stores they build they might want to build 1 big one to host sporting events.

Rather have it in a high school 2 hours away that in a Coliseum 5 hours away.

What about New Castle, largest gym in the United States, or Seymour, 2nd largest gym in the United States. They more more centrally located than Fort Wayne or Evansville.

Isn't the convention center in Indianapolis big enough? Had team trials there a while ago.

Could you imagine how much tougher the EC Semi State would be if some of our studs did not cross state lines and wrestler for Alex at Mt. Carmel. To think that he is building a powerhouse in Illinois with Region talent just shows you how tough the region is in wrestling.

I would have to say the best coach out there right now is David Maldonado at Merrillville.

We are a different bread here in the region. You come to EC, you better be ready to scrap for that ticket. A lot of young guns punched their tickets, it just seems that the talent here is getting better and better. We will always be the area that brings home the most hardware from State. Better call 2 Brink's truck Rat!!
