  1. Tsirtsis. I cant wait to see this freshman evolve in the coming years. I loved how he wanted that tech in the finals. It just goes to show you he was never complacent and will always wrestle the full six minutes. Eppert a close second.
  2. How bout Kieffer vs. Hawkins? That was at least top three for me. Probably top two with Young/Mcginley
  3. I just wanted to find this post and be the first one to say you were obviously WRONG. This matchup epitomizes what a rivalry is/was. Eppert had the perfect gameplan tonight and found a way to stay even with Wright at his strength and beat him on the mat where he had the advantage. This is for TAE or someone, but have any two people faced off in the state finals three consecutive years? Congrats to Camden Eppert and I am just glad I have been lucky to see these two wrestle on multiple occassions. Correction. Other people already hunted this out as they obviously remembered it vividly themselves
  4. Did someone who actually WATCHES the Mcginely's wrestle really say this? They always put themselves in close contests with good competition and you are bound to lose when you are wrestling not to lose instead of to WIN.
  5. 17 losses I think?? Did weiss win from HH? I cant remember
  6. It was a close match, but these two wrestled more like HW's than 89 lbers. No action from the 3rd period on. Abbott lets hodges up to begin the third and takes zero shots after that. He must have been waiting on him to fall again. Match of the night for me had to be Lynde/Tonte. There was actually a lot of action in that match and just when it appeared lynde had a great comeback to nearly take the lead Tonte pulls his headlock out of nowhere for the fall.
  7. Brooks has never lost too Kenny, Folkstyle state, Brooks over Kenny 11-1 Freestyle state Brooks won 3-3 with Kenny winning first period with a throw and Brooks turned it on and was 5-1 second and 7-1 in the third. Was a nice throw by Kenny though!!!! I was wondering the same thing. If Kenney had trouble with Raley on their feet last year, I would expect the same against Brooks. Both have their work cut out for them but I know who I would pick if it happens.
  8. I would say it as a totally unbiased observer. The 3-2 score was not nearly indicative of how the match went. Kieffer got the lone takedown and rode Nelsen out for the first and second periods. Nelsen's two points were gimme stalling calls that werent that bad. By gimme stalling calls do you mean that kieffer was barely in a stance for the last 45 seconds? He did control the first two periods, but in the third did just enough to win. Great kid got a big win, enough said.... By gimme I mean what most refs seem to do at the end of matches and award pts. that are pretty much meaningless. He called that last stall with about 1 second on the clock.
  9. Everyone has Matt Todd in the finals, but not a single person picked him to win. Im not saying he will win, but just found it intriguing that all 7 have the same person in the finals but all 7 have him losing to either runyan or myers.
  10. I would say it as a totally unbiased observer. The 3-2 score was not nearly indicative of how the match went. Kieffer got the lone takedown and rode Nelsen out for the first and second periods. Nelsen's two points were gimme stalling calls that werent that bad.
  11. Grey pretty much controlled his match with Berryman from start to finish, otherwise I may have given him a better shot here. Should be a good match, but I have to give the edge to Napules also.
  12. This kid fought off an inside cradle courtesy of a tough Greenfield Central kid like nobody I had seen before and never gave up near fall! If he doesn't win a title or two before it's all said and done, I'll be surprised. That was a gutsy performance for any kid, let alone a freshman. Willis pretty much put himself in that potentially dangerous situation to prevent the back points/possible fall. He had to be in some pain as it looked like he was willing to let some harm be done to him way before he gave up any points. I was very impressed with him all day.
  13. Yeah Scott, how do you know? Anything is possible. Perhaps maybe a couple single leg throws and anybody can shock the world. Wouldnt you agree?
  14. I get a kick out of all these examples and Y2 having his name near the bottom of the predictions but always at the top of the placement. Classic
  15. I must say I am sort of Shocked by 5 of the 7 picking Harper over Porras considering what everyone has said about their last match. I wanted to pick Frankie last week and chickened out, but Im not making the same mistake twice.
  16. You mean like the way Wright controlled or should I say dominated Kieffer on Saturday? Maybe thats just a bad matchup for Kieffer but I think he got teched???? corrrect me if im wrong. I think Raley will just be too good on the feet for Kieffer.
  17. So you are a gambling man huh, we might have to work something out!!! ;D Let me get some of this action too, Duck was simply outwrestled and definitely outmanned by Grimes last week. Im thinking Atwood by 3
  18. My first question is can he beat Tonte? Tonte and Mcginley looked to be in the match of the day at NC and Tonte got caught in a scramble and was pinned thus ending the match abruptly. I seen on here somewhere they already wrestled and Tonte won, but doesn anyone know what the score of that match was?
  19. I think its impossible to not put at least a little bias in one's picks. Sometimes, the person you want to win can be the person who you think will win. For example, Im pulling for Brooks at 119 and strongly believe he has the best shot at knocking off Wright if they meet. Thats a big IF though given the weight class.
  20. Exactly what I was thinking. Roach had only lost to Churchard in close matches before state and Churchard was the CLEAR favorite. Freshman or not I didnt doubt him after his semistate performance.
  21. I agree... it wasnt close last year (7-3) but i think it will a great match this time around. The winner gets Eppert sounds fun Writing Brooks off that easily huh???? Interesting
  22. Im quite positive Johns beat Wright once last year and their match in the 112 semi's went right down to the wire. Im certainly not saying Wright wont win, but it is not near as simple as you make it seem.
  23. Its either him or Phillips this year Im taking Ayersman winning it Well if naco is picking Ayersman I might as well too! Phillips is a BULL! I thought Mckinley and him would have a great match today and he controlled it from start to finish leaving no doubt who was the better man. I would be surprised if he finished anywhere except the top to the podium.
  24. Kieffer secured a takedown midway through the first or so and rode Nelsen out for the remainder of the period and then the entire 2nd period. Nelsen cut Kieffer to begin the 3rd and really never threatened on a takedown attempt. The 2 pts. were stalling points. 3-2 does not tell the story by any means.
  25. No, I disagree. Its nice to be able to focus on two matches at a time.
