  1. If Dawkins had won, he would have been wrestling this weekend.
  2. Home with the family this weekend, but I will be at the big show!
  3. Actually, the reason Perry Meridian is #1 is because we have defeated all comers this year either in dual competition or in tournaments. The reason Perry wrestled their JV team vs Warren Central at North Mont is because there were 6 duals that day and no team may wrestle more than 5 times in a day. Perry chose to wrestle their JV against WC because we had already defeated then twice (Capital City and Marion County) and chose to wrestle some different competition. Perry has since defeated Warren Central a third time by winning the regional. You are entitled to your own opinion, but not entitled to your own facts.
  4. I am still not quite sure how Vernon made weight...he was an enormous 152-pounder. (oh no...I used a cliche)
  5. WC did wrestle well last weekend. They justified their #2 ranking. But there is a reason they are not number 1 and that reason is Perry Meridian. I think PM will have more champs and more qualifiers than anyone at New Castle. As for the details, I will keep those to myself.I do think that Warren gets out at 106, 120 (favorite), 145, 182 (favorite), 195. 220 and 285 got extremely tough draws and could get out, but would not be favored.
  6. Well, Perry Meridian does have 13 guys wrestling at semi state. Are you saying WC will have more wrestlers in the finals than PM? It is possible, but it sounds like wishful thinking.
  7. Another point to examine is that since the team state champion is determined by the points accrued by individuals at the state tournament, it is important for the integrity of that outcome to have the best 4 for each weight class advance from the semi states to the state meet.
  8. I remember about 10 years ago the best at 189 matched up against the best at 215. Nathan Moore was a 2-time state champ and he beat 3-time champ Jake O'Brien 2 times his senior year. I would put Sliga at least on par with Nate and Jake is the best at that weight ever in the state of Indiana. He may not be the physical speciman that Robinson is, but he was more of a wrestler. I know it is a different pair of wrestlers, but my point is the smaller wrestler in both cases I believe is the better wrestler.
  9. There could also be another challenger to these 2 the next couple of weekends.
  10. There are a couple of serious upsets in there...should be interesting.
  11. It is my understanding that the 1st round losers will wrestle back for 5th place. The scoring for that part of the tournament will be 1 advancement point + 3 placement points (6th place points) + 0-2 quality of decision points for a total of 4-6 for the 2 wrestleback winners. Then, those 2 winners wrestle each other for 5th place and that winner receives 2 placement points (difference between 5th and 6th place) + 0-2 quality of decision points for a total of 2-4 points for that 5th place match.
  12. It will not affect Perry Meridian at all because we don't recruit. We build it the old fashioned way...with a great elementary and middle school program and awesome, dedicated coaches at every level.
  13. There are 36 ranked wrestlers at the Perry Meridian regional, including 3 who are ranked 1st. Here is the breakdown: 106: #1, 9, 19 113: #3, 13 120: #2, 6, 8 126: #2, 10, 13 132: #1, 17 138: #4 145: #7, 8, 13, 14 152: #2, 14 160: #8, 14 170: #12, 13 182: #3, 5, 10 195: #5, 7, 10 220: #4, 13, 15 285: #1, 3, 16 It should be a good day of competition with a bucket full of medal-winners coming out of this fight.
  14. Also, Nick Crume (Jimtown) is listed in the rankings as being from the NC semi state. I think he will come out of Ft. Wayne.
  15. The Perry Meridian Regional does have 3 of the 4 undefeated teams remaining (Perry Meridian, Warren Central and New Palestine). May not be the toughest, but it is pretty deep.
  16. I have had this question answered...we score 6 places.
  17. Thanks to all...I now have a complete picture.
  18. does 6th place receive 3 placement points?
  19. The question I have at the semi state is the wrestleback for all 8 1st round losers, with a wrestleback to 5th place for these 8, or are the first round losers out, then the tournament proceeds just like the regional? I hope we get clarification soon.
  20. while I am on the subject, I might as well ask about the semi state. I see no reason not to score the entire tournament. The reason for scoring the sectional from the quarters on is because luck of the draw/forfeits/# of teams is a factor there. At the semi state, these are not as germane. Each semi state has the same number of participants, so it should be scored from the beginning. If this is true, then the scoring would be similar to the regional, except there would be an extra round and placement scoring would not occur until you get through the 2nd round. Scoring the state tourney will be easy, since it has been done to acknowledge the "Coach's Trophy" winner these past 17? years and for all of the years previous to the team state.
  21. If it is scored to 6th place, here is what I think the breakdown would be. Round 1 winners score 2 advancement + 7 (4th place) + 0-2 quality of decision for a total of 9-11. semifinal winners would score 2 advancement + 5 (difference between 2nd and 4th place) + 0-2 QOD for 7-9. WB 1 winners score 1 advancement + 3 (6th place) + 0-2 QOD for 4-6. 5th place match scores 2 (difference of 5th and 6th place) + 0-2 QOD for 2-4. 3rd place match scores 2 (difference of 3rd and 4th place) + 0-2 QOD for 2-4. 1st place match score 4 (difference of 1st and 2nd place) + 0-2 QOD for 4-6. If this is the case, I hope someone can confirm...if not I hope someone can correct.
