Are they still there? No, they've graduated. Unless Alex quits his job and Angel gives up his wrestling career at IU to come back to Griffith to help out Jason, people just need to shut up about this subject. He lives in Crown Point, so should he go back to Griffith and wrestle illegally there to make you all happy?

Why is it assumed the coaches are recruiting? Why don't you think that teenage kids want to go to a better team for their own reasons? I don't blame coaches for this. I think it's mostly kids and/or parents.

What about Mishawaka? I'm sure they'll pull out a great team - like they always do.

Don't forget the fan in the stands trying to catch a foul ball - that year it was his fault. Ruined the guys life - even though there were 10 other people going after that ball. He was the unlucky one that ended up with it.

Being a CP fan for many years, I always thought that the individual championship was the most important thing. Of course, getting 3 state champs after 34 years was an incredible feat. I've never attended the Team State Finals until this year (of course because CP always got beat at Team Semi-State), and I have to say it was one of the most incredible things I've ever witnessed in my life. I can't even put it into words how great I felt for those boys and the coaches. It is truly something that that "team" and those CP fans that were there will NEVER forget.

No chance the coaching staff had anything to do with these boys and their families moving to CP. I'm sure not one person on the staff even knew the Roach's and probably didn't know the Tsirtsis's parents. Coach Vlink would never call up someone and ask them to move to CP. Anyone that knows him, knows that would never happen. Jealousy will get you nowhere - get over it - they are the STATE CHAMPS!

Tired Shmired. IC would not have done as well as they did at Ind State, if they were not in good enough shape to wrestle two wrestling matches in 2 aor 3 hours. I wasn' t watching that match, but it is possible that they had an emotional let down. That can make you appear lethargic. From what I saw however, is that that wrestled well and barely got beat by a great team. Complaining about the draw diminishes their great accomplishment. CPs HWT was not a lock to win against PM. If he loses instead of pins, PM wins. The final four were evenly matched. Throw in MISH and Bellmont, and you have very close dual meet teams. "There are no excuses, only winners and losers." Are you saying that PM's 112 matched up with Hawkins? If so, you are crazy, Hawkins manhandled that kid.

I agree with AJ - Chalfant has improved greatly since last year. I would take Chalfant also. Also, no way would Hawkins get teched - you would have to catch his legs several times, which just wouldn't happen.

I think in like 90 or 91 Dennis Watson from Merrillville won, after getting 4th place at Semi-State and didn't win Regionals either. -
I'm glad that you clarified that it's "your strong belief", but it's not everyones belief. I don't think that shaking someone's hand after a wrestling match makes them a better person or makes them seem arrogant. They are great kids whether they do it or not. I think most people are taking offense because of the words you used in the title "sportsmanship inexcusable". That is taking it a little too far.

Bottom line is this - Vlink could care less what people think about his beliefs and he's not going to change. It doesn't make CP wrestlers disrespectful nor does it make him a bad person for not insisting his wrestlers do something that isn't necessary. I highly doubt that he turned his back on several wrestlers - maybe the one. It could be that he was overwhelmed with what was going on and was just focusing on HIS wrestlers and there's nothing wrong with that. It was a great weekend for a great coach.

Shaking hands is not necessary, and it's not necessary to get on here and start a subject insulting a coaching staff because they don't agree with what you believe to be "disrespectful". If you met the CP kids, you would have to agree they are some of the most respectful kids in the tournament. If you went up and introduced yourself to one of these kids, they would shake your hand. I saw several times kids that lost this weekend and went over and "slapped" the other coaches hands. Just because they went over to the opposing coaches - are they "respectful"? I would say no.

Roach has it - and how would you know who wants it more? I'm sure every wrestlers goal is to be a state champion. Roach will win.

Where you there? McMurray was on his back for at least 10 seconds. Also the ref is on the side where his shoulder is flat, how could he see if the other one was flat.
