I was thinking about that as well, but I dont know for sure when they had to FF the match, if it was at sectionals, or if it happend at team regionals for them. This is just one of the problems created by having and individule tourney set up the team tourney.

Yes I know that, but I remember a few days during the Christmas break where they shut down the system and the room was a bit on the chilly side. We dont want any pulled muscles today.

This is what I found on the IHSAA web site, it does not specifically discuss your situation. I would say that it comes close with section G. if that section applies, then they would be required to FF that weigh the rest of the team tourney. VI ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPANTS A. To enter in his/her weight class he/she must have achieved a minimum of 6 qualified weigh-ins throughout the regular season as prescribed in the 2008-09 Weigh-In Regulations that can be found at www.ihsaa.org or www.ihsaa.net. NOTE: A weigh-in at a multiple dual or tournament shall be counted as 1 weighin of the required six even if the tournament contains more than 1 day of wrestling. B. The above requirements shall not be reduced without expressed written consent of the IHSAA. NOTE: Additional team members in each weight class may be weighed in at meets for the purpose of meeting minimum weight classification requirements for the state tournament series. C. In order to wrestle at any level of the team tournament, each participant?s name must be entered on the Official Entry List that was filed with the Commissioner NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. D. Each team may weigh in a maximum of 24 wrestlers at each level of the team tournament. E. Participants in the team tournament will receive an additional one pound allowance at the team regional and the team semi state events only. This additional allowance is not valid for any portion of the individual tournament. F. Wrestlers must be ready to report to the scorers table immediately when called by the referee. The wrestler to be sent to the scorers table first, who then cannot be withdrawn or replaced, will be determined by the pre-meet coin toss. G. If a school submits an entry for a weight class prior to the start of a match and subsequently forfeits that weight class, that weight class shall be forfeited throughout the rest of the team tournament series. Note: A wrestler does not have to wrestle in the sectional in order to be eligible to compete at other levels of the tournament. Likewise, a participant is not required to wrestle at the same weight class for each match of the team tournament series.

Coach. turn up the heat in the room, and get them to the required weight. The control is right by the door leading to the closet. ;D BTW, what time are we setting up tonight?

If other states are allowing freestyle and greco matches between kids that are not in the same age group, except for the cadet rule, then they are doing so with the possibility of losing their sanctioning and insurance that is being carried by USA Wrestling. It is against the rules, and knowing several of the people on the board, they will not ever go along with it just because it is what other states are doing. Now if they are running these tournaments under a different sanctioning body those rules may be different.

Great post, the only thing I would add, is if you have trouble keeping calm, then do as you do, and keep someone close to remind you, or failing that, move to a section of the gym where you can see, but you also know that your shouts will not be heard and then it is easier to keep yourself under more control. Well, except for the person sitting next to you that thinks your crazy with all the moving you are doing as he is on the mat, and you try to do the moves with him..... ;D

On DirecTV it is scheduled for replay at 10:00 PM as well. for those of you that have to get set up for sectionals in the morning.

Thanks rankingsguy, that is a job that not many people would want to do. I mean if I want to get second guessed, and told how wrong I am that often, I would just have a conversation with my wife. ;D I hope she does not read the board.........

Coach Vic, has Warren been notified that they will be getting the 2 pounds, or is this still just board chatter. Until it comes from the A.D., we dont want to take a chance of a kid not making weight.

Why wont Mike be wrestling, and who did you hear it from? It was on another thread that he had been cleared to wrestle that his weigh ins from florida were going to be counted so he would have the required amount. I would have thought if there was a problem that the coach would have made sure before he got him seeded. And if he cant wrestle, are they able to put in a replacement for him in the # 6 seed spot?

Levi, I cannot imagine how you feel right now. It has always been a pleasure to watch you wrestle. I wish you continued success in whatever it is you do, or where you go from here. According to channel 13 web site, the only schools that have not already announced a 2 hour delay that feed into this sectional are Warren and Roncolli. I am fairly sure both will be in school tomorrow and both will have 2 hour delays, which means that evereyone should be prepared to make the weight with no additional allowance for missed practice.

I saw nothing on the ihsaa web site indicating they have an alternate plan. I doubt that they would not have one, but they have not made it available to the public.

Well Clive, something is keeping them from getting the seeds sent in to anyone. I figured that was as good an excuse as anything. But look at it this way, they are being discussed almost as much as the sectionals that have them in, so maybe it was a ploy on their part to get more board time. ;D

I am curious to know if any of the teams have been in school, and able to have practice this week. That might be as big a story as anything else this week. Warren has been out for both wednesday and thursday. We have not heard about friday yet.

Well, you know with the weather and everything causing schools to close and trying to figure out the timing of practice, time might be really streched for these coaches more so then with the rest of the state. ;D

We all make mistakes, the great thing about this board is that you can go back and modify your post and change the wording.

Heres to hoping that this freshman that you are "stuck with" does not read the boards and sees what kind of support he is getting from the other team parents. I am hoping that this was just a misstatement on your part.
