  1. Funny! Let me stop to change the crystals in my light saber blade!
  2. I'd like to post an announcement about club sign ups for Middle/High School aged students. Where would be the appropriate area to post this.
  3. I LOVE this idea! If someone takes the reins on this - I'd be more than happy to help out. I'm a great indian, as long as you don't try to make me a chief.
  4. Oscar: I'm not a proponent of weight cutting either. I think it's dangerous... and it doesn't necessarily give someone the competitive edge they were looking for. Even though Andrew was light compared to some other 12 pounders he wrestled this year, he ended up having more stamina to complete the tough matches. Some of the bigger kids he wrestled seemed to be "true" 19 or 25 pounders. If Andrew managed to get to the 3rd period w/ them, those kids were usually huffin' puffin', nose bleedin' and pukin'. However - if Andrew can cut a FEW pounds by cutting out junk food, drinking only water, and only eating SINGLE portion sizes at his meals... then by all means, I don't have a problem with that. bigfan2001: "Nice story...but if he had a realistic shot at being a 103 lb. state champ I bet he would have challenged his teammate for the 103 spot." Well... I couldn't say for sure. He's not there yet. But, my guess would be, if he hadn't been to State by the time his Senior year rolled around - every weight class lighter than him better watch out. I'm sure he'd be willing to challenge a teammate if that were the case. So - yes - there might be an instance where the individual part of it plays more of a factor than the team.... your Senior year! ;D
  5. On the contrary - I think both boys were exactly where they should have been. Neither cut weight or had to watch what they ate all season long! While most other kids in these weight classes were killing themselves to make weight, even with all the allowances at the end of the season - our 103 and 112 pounders got to eat and wrestle healthy!
  6. I've never met Coach Red... but as I was looking through the ISWA State tournament results, I saw A LOT of Red Cobra kids place! Congratulations!
  7. All the Junior brackets are posted through the finals. Cadets will finish wrestling tomorrow. If you go to trackwrestling.com, click on the event, and then click on "Brackets" on the left side of the page.
  8. Oscar: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As a spectator, I like to know the rules. As a mom - I like to know what's safe. Especially, when I've got a group of kids over trying to choke each other out for fun!
  9. Anyone got individual or team results from Saturday's Tourney?
  10. I was overwhelmed by the willingness of our volunteers! Thanks to all of you - especially those of you who were 1st year volunteers doing the "trial by fire" thing! You guys handled everything that was thrown at you. Our ISWA pairing official even made the comment that it was the first time in his pairing career that he actually got to get out on the floor and watch some of the wrestling!
  11. I'd say it depends on the age.... and how long he's been practicing. Just 'cuz he's never been to a tourney before doesn't necessarily mean he won't do well. If he's in 4th - 6th grade - he might get creamed by some of the youth that have been wrestling since they were peewees. But, if he's only in kindergarten... well... I'd have to say you won't meet a whole lot of kids in that age group who will humiliate a beginner. Just my opinion... though... I'm sure there are exceptions.
  12. Any news on Mat 4? My feed isn't coming in from ihsaasports
  13. I could do w/o the LOLs and the OMG and the TTYLs, though. They do induce a gag reflex.
  14. Agreed... sometimes it's hard to tell whether someone is being sarcastic, by just reading what they're typing. A quick little wink will tell you that someone like Y2 is not just being a big meanie!
  15. That really is a shame. The Anderson Herald Bulletin has had GREAT coverage on all the Madison County wrestlers, and have featured articles on all the county's qualifiers. www.heraldbulletin.com
  16. OMG (sister to LOL) ---- !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fearless - this is one of the funniest threads I've ever seen! You've got me on here searching for funny wrestling pictures while I'm trying to create a Last Will and Testament for a client! (Can't wait to see what this will looks like when I'm done.)
  17. Should it be... "Where's my dinner woman" > Only when I come home and I'm REALLY hungry. Otherwise it's more confusion. followed by, where's half my stuff, woman :'( OKAY! NOW THAT WAS FUNNY!! Because if there was a "jack slap" smiley face - that's what you would've gotten had you come home and asked, "Where's my dinner, woman!?"
  18. Cody Stewart from Rushville went last year - If there were wrestlebacks in Semi - probably would have gone again this year. (Fodder for the other post.) I think I did see McCarthy (MV) at Semi-State. So... there's another one that didn't make it back this year. But then again - I think he was in the dreaded 119 pound weight class.
  19. I forgot about the stalling call... but now that you mention it... that last 8 seconds or so made me smile! I don't blame Josh one bit! In fact... ANYONE would have done exactly the same thing. It's called smart wrestling!! Congratulations Josh! I was SOOOOOO cheering for you!! And was really glad to see you win!!
  20. I agree. It was packed at New Castle, too. It was nice to have so much excitement!
  21. I wouldn't say Kieffer dominated Nelsen... but he sure did look good against him... and he wrestled smart, and did exactly what it took to get a win against a very solid top dog. I wouldn't mind seeing Kieffer win it. Great kid.
  22. I know it would take forever - but it would be nice. Lord knows... I'd sit through 2 days of wrestling ANYTIME! I'd almost rather have fewer semi-state qualifiers coming in - and have wrestlebacks - to ensure that the most talented wrestlers get through to state.
  23. 112 at New Castle was another good example. Roytek, Gadient and Stewart ALL are worthy of a spot at state. Had there been wrestle-backs - at least one of them would definitely have been there. I sure would have liked to have seen Stewart go through - being his Senior year and all.
  24. http://www.heraldbulletin.com/sports/local_story_038235532.html?keyword=topstory "When state high school wrestling Web site indianamat.com is using the line ?Abandon all hope, ye who enter here? from Dante to describe the competition at the Pendleton Heights Individual Wrestling Regional, you know a showcase for wrestling in the state of Indiana is on tap." Quintin Harlan, Herald Bulletin Sports Writer
  25. I'll step up to the plate on this one! (Since I'm the momma!) Gadient was DEFINITELY dominant this week! I knew if Andrew got the first take down, he'd have a chance - but Tyler wasn't waiting around this time! Good luck to ALL the 12 pounders next week. These guys are a great bunch of kids!
