  2. Can someone please provide a contact for these clubs ... so that I could pass it along. Thanks !
  3. A friend of our family has a 9 yr old boy that wants to wrestle. They live in the Dyer/St. John/Schereville area and are looking for a club that they could join. What youth clubs are out there near this area ? Hanover ? Lake Central ? Any other ? Any help / contact information is greatly appreciated !
  4. So depending on what teams our predicted to win Sectionals What are some possible wrestling match ups?
  5. LOL ... one other indicator to watch for ..... schools with students that spend their school day on chat boards instead of studying (hint: see above) ... ;D http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php?action=profile;u=231;sa=statPanel
  6. Regarding the schools (academically) in the area(s) that you are considering moving to ... I would recommend checking out the Indiana Dept of Education Web Site and take a look at the "school/student performance data" (ACT/SAT scores, graduation rates etc) http://www.doe.in.gov/data/ You can poke around on the IHSAA wrestling web site and get a feel for the schools that have had great wrestling success in Indiana (in recent years) .... http://www.ihsaa.org/b-wrestling_frame.htm You can check indianamat.com's individual rankings and get a feel for what schools have (underclassmen) studs at what weigh classes that might provide great training partners for your son http://indianamat.com/rankings/rankings.html
  7. Right on daregionrat !! Tons of great memories and the beauty of it is - they are all stored in our minds. You can think back and replay the matches, enjoy the friendships etc in that video camera in your mind and enjoy it anytime you want !
  8. So 100% the NCC tournament will take place the 24th with all teams being their?
  9. When is this subject going to end already? It's old news and should be over. PERIOD!!! In my OPINION he did not get screwed by the IHSAA his family didn't follow the rules and the IHSAA simply followed their own by-laws. Even if he were to become eligible to wrestle, can someone tell me how he was able to get 6 weight ins? I'm still not sure how a wrestler can get 6 weight ins if they are ineligble to wrestle due to grades. I would think ineligible mean eneligible. If the young man really wants to wrestle this season, I as his father would encourage my son to wrestle for his district school come the state tournament. My feeling also is, it sucks for the kid that he may replace that's been part of a great team this year, another words screw the wrestler that's helped the team all season. Is high school sports supposed to be about winning at all cost? The whole situation leaves a bad taste in my mouth about wrestling, looks like we have taken a page from basketball politics.
  10. I know teams sign a contracts when they schedule It will be intersting to see if Hobart is able to cancel their invite, one way or another, some teams will most likely have an open date next weekend. Any coaches know how it works?
  11. I think they wear the backpacks cause they have camping gear in there. Frying pan and such so they can make some grub in between matches. Nothing like being prepared ....
  12. You might want to think that one through again DoughBoy !!
  13. The bracket almost ready? It makes a little sense why Woods is seeded # 1.
  14. I'm guessing the Lowell coaches didn't feel it was worth their breath to argue. Nate will just put a whooping on the LC kid before beating the West Side kid. Not a big deal.
  15. Josh Birge (Frankfort) State Champ (112) in '98 as a junior ...... didnt make it out of Merrillville semistate his senior year.
  16. I believe Tsirtsis was still rocked after the injury timeout and was a little out of it .... there was still plenty of time to escape and tie the score if he would have bailed on the Tanelli takedown. I still gotta favor Alex and think he will be a National Champ this year.
  17. Tangarray: Tell Ace great job !! We'll be rooting for him !!
  18. Justin Benge from Calumet High School comes to mind .... He finished 5th @ 160 in 1999 ... his only loss in that state tournament was to the eventual state champ Kevin Carr Coach Wadtkins can correct me if I'm wrong ... but I believe he was 12x letter winner ... 3 sport varsity athlete x 4 years of high school ! Very rare .....
  19. Oh yeah, Schontube was killer ..... I remember us saying "poor soul" for kids that had to wrestle him ...... the worst one that sticks out in my mind was when Schontube got that kid from Mt. Carmel (Illinois) in a guillotine at the Times Braggin Rights meet..... refs finally stopped it for being potentially dangerous (LOL) but the kid's shoulder was cooked .... he had to injury default the rest of the match. Freddy Joseph was a beast with legs (top) too !
  20. Boilermaker, Aren't Auerlio Medina (103) and Aaron Estrada (152) also undefeated from Munster ? I must say, the Munster kids have one of the best coaching staffs around .... Dan Bedoy (state runner-up, Purdue) Tim Maldonado (state runner-up, Lassen) BobbyJoe Maldonado (state runner-up, Northwestern) Thurman Stone (state champ)
  21. One of my all time favorites ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ugk37TvIR8E&feature=related PART I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCtz4trJr_g&feature=related PART II
  22. Congrats .... close matches like that are exciting to watch
  23. Not a State Finals moment (Merrillville Semistate moment), but it brought the packed Merrillville house down... Matt Miller (LaPorte) puts Marcus Schontube (Lowell) on his back ....
