  1. This was a topic to discuss other options in case Roberts Stadium wasn't up after this year, which is why there was talk about moving it out of Evansville. Its all theoretical and there is no need to get upset. I would agree though that somewhere in Bloomington would be a good idea, the afforementioned Assembly Hall would be my pick, but good luck getting IU to let the IHSAA use it.
  2. Seymour is more centrally located in the state of Indiana, I suggest you look at a map. It's just off of I-65 which runs directly through the middle of Indiana. As for the drive Evansville is a two to three hour trip for most of the teams in the HHC. Also, with the exception of the Castle regional, the other three regionals are all more than an hour closer to Seymour than they are to Evansville.
  3. Steven, Baron, and Zach Rieker-Columbus East by way of the Jennings County sectional.
  4. I would have put you in my picks Kraus but I wasn't sure if you were at 184 or 197. You were right about Hinton, I got Glasser and Young mixed up from when MSU wrestled Minnesota.
  5. This is who I would choose. 125: Angel Escobedo-IU 133: Josh Harper-MSU, possibly Ethan Harris-UIndy 141: Reece Humphrey-OSU 149: Matt Coughlin-IU 157: Kurt Kinser-IU 165: Andrew Howe-Wisconsin, although Young has shown he can wrestle with anyone in the country. 174: Ian Hinton-MSU or Dan Bedoy-CCSJ 184: Nick Corpe-Purdue, possibly Nick Kraus-Trine 197: Matt Powless-IU, also Marcus Shrewsbury-Northwestern 285: Lynn Panko-UIndy
  6. I don't see how the statement was ignorant. You always want statistical data to back up arguments, as do I. Which I can almost guarantee you would have none to solidify that particular argument.
  7. I believe Corpe would beat Hinton, although I'm not sure if they have wrestled this year. Young is at 157, he just placed 5th at the New York State Championships at Cornell.
  8. I didn't miss the point, I just turned it around like you and Hungus have been doing to the mostly legitimate statements of the other posters on this topic. I say mostly because even the non-class advocates know which posts are not helping our case.
  9. A completely theoretical statement; In a lot of cases being a great wrestler does not translate to being a great coach.
  10. I believe Corpe is at 184, so you would have to go with him. I would put Harper at 133 and I they said on the BTN Shrewsbury is a 197 that bumped up due to injuries in the line up.
  11. Y2 you went a little repetitive on the sarcasm; I'm actually intelligent enough to pick up on it when it's thrown at me. That statement was also pretty dull, I thought you would have something better than that.
  12. Indiana is a statistical anamole. We cannot compare ourselves to other states, with the exception being California. Therefore there is no way to tell if school size realistically correlates to success in a non-class system. The only way to find out would be to class Indiana; Sorry class proponents, you'll live to play another day.
  13. Pantherfan, I'm going to go in chronological order of the incorrect and unfair accusations in your post. 1. Howard was in no danger of going to his back. 2.The way I see it, the only thing that could be considered remotely close to bashing Baldwin was the comment on the elbows, which I believe everyone in the gym saw except for the refs and the Jennings County fans. 3.I heard one innapropriate comment come from the Scottsburg area that was neither from Coach Skinner or his kids. 4.As stated by wrestling141 I also believe any undefeated senior that had his high school career end the way it did would most likely do the same thing. As for keeping comments to yourself, you should probably think before you write. Also, your post speaks volumes to YOUR character so please don't pass hypocritical judgement on others. Good luck to all wrestlers this weekend in Bloomington!
  14. I guess that wasn't a very good dare. It's not that anyone thinks the facts are off; It's the fact that Y2 has so many more of them to back up his arguments. Just to make this clear I am not a proponent of class wrestling, I'm just saying if you are going to argue with him you better have enough facts to match his.
  15. Personal vendetta?...You could have been more subtle and slipped this into a class wrestling topic if it came along. Thank you for opening up this can of worms.
  16. Madison, Seymour, BNL, Columbus East, Columbus North, Southwestern, Scottsburg, Brown County and Jennings County
  17. Both of which are ranked top 8 in the country. He also handled Steve Bell once again, just like in the finals of the midlands. Although I do agree he won't pin Ortega, I'd still say he is a dominant wrestler. I think people are quick to forget the kid is only a freshman.
  18. Right now, on fox I believe, there is a wrestling coach from California playing heads up poker against Tito Ortiz(Who was a California state wrestling champion among other accolades). The winner of the tournament wins 1 million dollars, in which the coach said if he won he would donate to his alma mater, the Cal State Fullerton program. To make it even better the CSF wrestlers are in attendance.
  19. These schools also get around this by offering higher academic scholarships than Div. I and II. Its not so much trickery as it is also the recruitment of good students. Student athletes also pick Div. III schools based on academics more so than athletics, as opposed to Div. I and in some cases Div. II.
  20. If you look into it the choice is not bad at all. Close to home, great coaching staff, and NAIA schools tend to offer a lot more money. On top of that it seems to be a trend that very talented, under sized kids go NAIA to wrestle 125 or 133. Really it comes as no suprise at all, yes he could have probably gone somewhere else, but would have had to wait a couple of years to really get to compete and pull scholarship. Great choice and it's nothing but good things in the future for both him and CCSJ. Congrats!!!
  21. Well said. Is the question being asked out of curiosity to when they read off the GPA of the wrestlers in the state finals? I know, for the most part, that they are usually pretty high. If so, I would think it could be attributed to the confidence they attain from getting to the level they are at, which could possibly carry over to the class room.
  22. Michaela Huthison(sp) is the girl you are referring to. She now wrestles at OCU and I believe was the first female to beat a male wrestler in a college match last year. I'm not sure why it didn't make that much national attention though, that really could have helped benefit women's wrestling nation wide.
  23. I'm not sure if this has been posted already, but I thought it would be interesting to the readers of the board. Specifically numbers 5 and 2. http://msn.foxsports.com/golf/pgStory?contentId=9948174&gt1=39002#sport=More%20Sports&photo=9948170
  24. In english, this example would be called an anomaly.
