  1. I guess we can all agree to disagree here, but I believe that forfeiting is a little bit different than injury defaulting. He defaulted after 2 periods. I think you simply have to look at what the IHSAA did a while back about forfeiting in the Team Tournament. They apparently found it unethical enough to prohibit it in the team tournament.
  2. How is bumping up a wrestler unethical? That makes no sense. If you weigh 134.9, why couldn't you wrestle 140? That really has nothing to do with this situation.
  3. lol, how in the world is it the same situation? Moving a lineup is a coach's job. I'm not sure it says anywhere in a coach's job description to blatantly and openly lie. By the way, does anyone know if the other wrestler involved in this had a legitimate reason to FF to take 4th?
  4. Other than the fact that you injury defaulted when you weren't injured? What about the fact that you LIED? Do you not have any self respect or do you just do whatever is best for you without regard for right or wrong?
  5. I can't think of something that is more unethical than what happened that isn't already specifically against the rules. What's next? Do you smudge your overall record by a match or two so that you can get the 6 seed instead of the 5 seed to get a better draw?
  6. Does anyone else think like me on this? If your goal is to qualify for state................ and you aren't going to win your Regional Why in the world does it matter if you get 2nd, 3rd, or 4th? You have to beat a Regional Champ either way, and you have no way of knowing which one you will draw into.

  8. I wouldn't mind if they backed the bus up and threw him back under. I don't have match results written down, but didn't said wrestler finish ahead of the kid he was trying to dodge at the County Tournament? To me the move doesn't make a whole lot of sense, besides losing the respect of the wrestling community as a whole.
  9. You are seriously underestimating Evans at 215. No way he loses first round. You're picking the 4th place at Oak Hill to get 3rd at Regional?
  10. Bellmont is 28-0 in Team Regional Competition. They have 14 Team Regional titles in the 14 year history of the Team Tournament.
  11. Bellmont doesn't have a whole lot of depth right now at the JV level. They do have a really good JV 215, but he won't be of much use tomorrow night. This is by far the best lineup Bellmont has, a heck of a lot better than at the beginning of the year, but it doesn't seem like it's going to be enough. Bellmont's chances based on probability of win: 160-Hankenson 189-Thatcher 215-Bultemeier 152-Mahlan 140-Busse 285-Meyer 135-Faurote That is one tough set of 7 matches to try and pull out.
  12. At the Hangar in lovely Monroe, Indiana. Adams Central's gym isn't exactly large, so don't come late. Can't remember if it starts at 6 or 6:30.
  13. Fort Wayne SS Rankings Used Bellmont vs. Yorktown 103-Jacob Girod (14-21) #3 Brock Bevans (35-5) 112-Blake Adams (15-17) Schyler Phillips (31-10) 119-Bobby Keuneke (21-15) Jake Anderson (30-7) 125-Dewey Melcher (9-10) #1 Derek Bevans (42-0) 130-Carlin Hormann (25-10) #1 Devon Jackson (41-0) 135-#4 Brooks Faurote (32-4) #1 Andrew Hiestand (37-1) 140-Will Busse (19-12) Josh Rench (25-11) 145-Andy Weaver (5-13) Cody Harper (34-5) 152-Jon Mahlan (23-11) #4 Caleb Smith (28-10) 160-#3 Ryley Hankenson (28-6) Andie Higgins (13-13) 171-Anthony Stebing (18-9) #3 Trent Castner (36-5) 189-#1 Travis Thatcher (34-0) #4 Grant Brown (31-7) 215-#2 Andrew Bultemeier (27-4) Scott Neff (29-12) 285-#3 Daniel Meyer (31-4) #1 Ross Janney (39-0) Favorites, in my opinion are in italics. Just so I have something to be happy about after writing all this down and realizing just how stacked Yorktown is, I put all of the seniors in BOLD.
  14. I was just using that as a hypothetical because I thought that Martsolf would be the favorite in his 1st rd matchup, and she beat him Saturday.
  15. Just went through your brackets on the website and I also came up with 237 for Jimtown. Not sure if your brackets are missing a match result or picked the wrong winner, or maybe the IHSAA has it wrong.
  16. Really when you are adding up team scores as you go, a win in the championship quarterfinals is worth 5 and then 11 adding in advancement points, maybe that is where you were off.
  17. Assuming Hildebrandt were to get 3rd at Regional, how many of the other 3 Regional Runner-ups do you think she could beat? Would she have a chance at beating the champ out of Logansport?
  18. Wow, I didn't realize that New Castle matched up that well with Roncalli. Should be a great dual.
  19. O ya, I think if they could bring it all together, and maybe just take Top 4 to the state finals, and then get 3 mats it would be pretty cool. As much as I like Center Grove, I think a venue that is just a bit larger could be better if you were going to go that route.
  20. I think the biggest hurdle to convincing people (like me in some cases) is that their point of view is as a fan. If you take a look at what has happened to fan bases and attendance in basketball, some would argue that class basketball failed. But if you talk to players, coaches, and principals, class basketball has been a huge success. I have a hard time getting behind something that would eliminate my favorite day of the year, Team State and taking Bellmont's chance to knock off our big rivals on a big stage. If your looking at only what's best for the wrestlers (which we probably should all do, even if we do really enjoy our saturdays as fans now), then I think the argument for class definitely needs to be made.
  21. By far the best argument I think for class. 2A football still has some great teams, great rivalries, and a highly competitive state tournament for example. If they were losing at sectional to 5A Homestead, you probably don't get the participation level that they currently enjoy.
  22. I didn't think you were, don't worry about it. Truth is, if you take out EMD as a private school, Yorktown is definitely the only team going to team state. The numbers obviously compliment your argument.
  23. Whatever, I don't understand why we can't have a decent conversation about this instead of just beating down other people's opinions. I simply made the comment about enrollment because the argument loses its weight if one family moves out of town and next years freshmen class is 10 kids smaller. That was all I was saying.
  24. Good luck on getting it to work. It is generally pretty unreliable. WZBD will be covering the match.
