I agree with you there. Baby Bro and me talked about it on the ride home. In a situation like that, you probably want your wrestler in his best position to score. He was taken down by Cashe once , down may have been a concern for reaggrevating a shoulder injury ( this is not excuse, notice the word REaggrevateing) and a takedown is still needed for the win. That leaves the top position, which in my opinion, has been his strongest position. Let's remeber he has turned and pinned Cashe before, a three point near fall gets him the win if he rides the whole 2 minutes, or at least to OT if Cashe escapes. I did not quite agree with the call at first, but after thinking about it, kinda like the decision. Definitely was gutsy, if he does not turn, lots of questions, however if he does what a GREAT call to choose top. Regardless, makes great discussion and was a very entertaining match between two very tough and classy kids.
