From Bobby Cox: B. Regionals to Semi-States ? The 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place contestants in each weight class will advance to the semi-state. 1. Alternates ? If it becomes necessary to provide an alternate for any contestant eligible to advance, the following procedure will be used: a. The alternate may be officially weighed in immediately after the end of the official weigh-in period. b. The 1st alternate will be the last individual defeated by the champion who did not advance by placing. c. When a 1st place contestant is unable to make weight or weigh-in and wrestle, the 2nd place contestant shall be advanced to the position vacated, the 3rd place contestant shall be advanced to the position vacated by the 2nd place contestant, and the 4th place contestant shall be advanced to the position vacated by the 3rd place contestant. d. When a 2nd place contestant is unable to make weight or weigh-in and wrestle, the 3rd place contestant shall be advanced to the position vacated and the 4th place wrestler shall be advanced to the position vacated by the 3rd place contestant. e. When the 3rd place contestant is unable to make weight or weigh-in and wrestle, the 4th place contestant shall be advanced to the position vacated by the 3rd place contestant. f. Flagrant Misconduct ? The advancement procedure above shall also apply when a contestant has been disqualified for flagrant misconduct and is not permitted to advance to the next level of the tournament.

I would love to miss 2 days of work for wrestling. And I'm all for opening up the brackets to 32 man bracket w/ full wrestlebacks. Sounds like a plan to me -

We could always go to 32 mats and have 32 "state championship" matches, right? Or do a state tournament round robin series where every kid is a "state finalist". That could bolster certain coaches records and reputations. Some coaches I think that's all that they are in for. Or you could just go back to Ohio. -

Floor seating and an elevated Mat looks awesome, but you guys are going to be there for 3 days to get all the wrestling in!

I think Donnie Baker would do a much better job than myself. I doubt anybody wants to put the work in when Jimmy Bob and MawMaw will get on and scream b/c Baby Bocephus wasn't picked as a favorite to win the weight class.

The facility, the presentation, and so on. Y2, saw one of your former team mates win his last TN state title the year I went.

Kentucky's is held in the Dungeon in Frankfort, holds around 5,000. It's a 3 day tournament. TN's used to be held in the old gym at UTC in Chattanooga, not sure if it still is or not Virginia's was in a high school gym when I went to it. Indiana's is by far the best that I've ever been to

Madison!!!!!!!!!!!! Knowing how good Metcalf is, sounds like Penn St. is holding out for maybe just Big Tens and Nationals. Maybe they have some suave funk worked up for Metcalf.

Couldn't agree more, I have asked mod's to lock both posts concerning final matches at Bloomington. It's ridiculous and embarrasing. Like I said last week Let the kids be kids Let the matches play out Stop the whining Addition: I had a kid get boo'ed saturday when he got head butted and was bleeding all over the mat. Obviously we were stalling and trying to recover b/c we got head butted.

Bobby Cox confirmed that the last person beat by the champion that is not moving on is SS alternate, meaning who ever eventual champ beats in first round. How would wrestlebacks affect the alternate?
