  1. Congratulations Kayla! Great job! It was nice talking to Mr. Miracle yesterday, good luck next weekend! Are there any "Arranged Marriages" anymore? I am thinking about some nasty 4-timers as Grandchildren! LOL...Just Kidding! I believe the 1st FEMALE Middle School State Champion in Indiana? Way to make history, Kayla! --Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling.
  2. Just for fun... At 95lbs: Chandler Carroll has to be the favorite. Darkhorse: Blake Rypel (6th grader) In the mix: Reitz, Lykins, Alexander, Harvey, and Belden. At 102lbs: Jose Champagne, Hunter Fox, and Bailey LaHue ---favorites. Darkhorse: Bryant Haynes In the mix: Atkinson, Chaffee, Childers, McDaniel, Thomas, Jacinto and Glogouski. At 110lbs: A HUGE match-up----LeCount and Forte, favorites. Darkhorse: Denton Schurg In the mix: Jolas, Dycus, and Loe. Just my opinion on who I know, I haven't seen a lot of kids so I am probably missing some. It should be an exciting day of wrestling!
  3. Just in case you didn't know...middle school state wrestlers are up on Trackwrestling.com (Thanks Rex and Co.)
  4. Junior year (HS): Football season--200lbs, Wrestling season--cut to 177lbs. Senior year (HS): Football season--215lbs, Wrestling season--cut to 177lbs. College: Football season---240-250lbs, all 4 years. Current weight? 291lbs of PURE LOVE. You have to remember, I went to HS in the 80s...we did some radical Sh** while cutting weight back then! During season, I woke up almost every night thinking about food...come to think of it, I still do that!
  5. According to the flyer (and I believe it's the same one that Rex used last year) it reads: Anything that you wear during a wrestling match EXCEPT HEADGEAR. This would include singlet, knee-pad(s), socks/shoes. I weighed Jake's stuff, excluding the headgear, and it came out to 2.0lbs. So, in essence, omit the HEADGEAR. The 3lb allowance is very good to use because I am sure the bigger guys will have apparel/equipment that weigh more but all in all, I like the 3lbs.
  6. 80lbs: Drew Hughes 85lbs: Jake Tucker I would imagine Brock Morgan and Kayla Miracle will be at 85lbs too...? Jake Sinkovics at 75lbs? or 80lbs? 90lbs: Darden Schurg, Tanner Shipley. Perhaps Tyler Fleener? 90lbs-95lbs: C.J. Alexander, perhaps Brandon James? Chase Osborn? Middle School State is always stacked, a real meatgrinder! Can't wait!
  7. Please spread the word that the newspapers have the start times incorrect! Noon-Doors open 1pm-Meet starts
  8. I am working the event with another officer, bring donuts! :) :)
  9. A great event! http://www.nwitimes.com/sports/college/article_1b77a194-9fa7-5b85-b448-05f03878ce51.html :)
  10. Coltfan64, I have lived in the region my whole life (43 years) less the 4 years in college and I respectfully disagree with you on this, sir. If you think that a couple of schools make up the success of our area, you are sadly mistaken. The statistics/facts don't lie...and I would recommend that you go back as far as the 80's to the present and you'll see the same thing.
  11. Re: Lowell Middle School A nice article in the TIMES of NW Indiana today. http://nwitimes.com/sports/local/article_1aa4092b-d02a-592c-9aa7-af4a84a7c373.html
  12. Mike: As you know, this event is one of the toughest tournaments in the midwest due to it being an "ELITE" tourney or 14 and under (No divisions). This is one prong in the coveted IL-Wrestling mid-season triple crown: Little Celtic Elite, Midwest Classic, and Kids Open Elite...if a wrestler wins all three, you can rest assured that he has accomplished a tough task!!! The kid at 84lbs, Austin Ryan (Crystal Lake), has won the first two events (defeating CIA's Stevan Micic in the first event and CIA's Jake Tucker in the 2nd event) so I wish Austin luck in his quest to capture all three...the kid is one tough customer but our boys have battled him to the end. A special thanks to Coach Hawkins for coaching our boys this past weekend!
  13. I agree, it really does show how much talent and dedication that Indiana has...all of the IN kids represented themselves with class! Congrats!
  14. Thanks so much for a GREAT experience! The Cash family, Coach P and Hawk and also the GREAT parents!!!
  15. The REGION is the only place in the state that wrestles the middle school season from Mid-October to Xmas. (that I am aware of anyway) It's been like that since I was in school many moons ago! There are a few local schools that start later with the rest of Indiana like Hanover Central, Kankakee Valley, North Newton and other southern schools. The LMSAC and the Lake-Porter middle school conferences all have their seasons ending soon. I have NO idea how that all started and or why? I would say its been like that since the '70's...?
  16. Lowell 89 Taft-CP 22 LMS completes perfect season at 13-0; 27-0 over the past 2 years! Congratulations to the wrestlers, coaches, parents, and managers!
  17. Lowell 89 Taft-CP 22 LMS completes perfect season at 13-0; 27-0 over the past 2 years! Congratulations to the wrestlers, coaches, parents, and managers!
  18. We finish with CP-Taft tonight...looking to go 13-0 for the 2nd year in a row. CP-Taft is no pushover though, we'll have to wrestle tough and smart. Last Saturday, we had 8 Individual conference champions: (3 who were runner-up) 75lbs-Clark Smith 2 losses; avenged one in conference finals! 80lbs-Brandon Arena Relative newcomer who is improving every day! 85lbs-Drew Hughes (bumped up) Undefeated this season (and last season) 90lbs-Jake Tucker (bumped up) Undefeated this season (and last season) 105lbs-Josh Bottos (bumped up) 1 loss to Jose' Champagne 110lbs-Alex Mavros Undefeated this season 130lbs-Kenny Hughes (bumped up) Undefeated this season (Incredible middle school career) 135lbs-Derek Pearman Undefeated this season (and last season) We had many others contribute all season long and our big guys who came in from football really improved! --Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling

  20. LMS moves to 12-0 on the season.
  21. 1) Lowell 395.5 2) Kahler 355.5 3) Griffith 312.0 4) Munster 269.5 5) Grimmer 247.0 6) Merrillville 235.0 7 ) Highland 157.0 8 ) Clark 105.5 Lowell: 8 champs; 3 runner-ups; 2 3rd placers.
  22. MaJam152: Your information is inaccurate; Hobart Middle School is/was not undefeated, we defeated them 93-30 in the 1st dual meet of our season. The Lake-Porter Conference, which includes Chesterton, has some good teams but Col. John Wheeler (Crown Point) is by far the class of that league. Their only loss this season was to Lowell by 20. I saw Chesterton at the M'ville super duals and they have a solid team! Good luck on the rest of your season!
  23. We are still wrestling out of state as well...middle school tournaments on Saturdays and IKWF in Illinois on Sundays...haha The issue with the middle school team state is just an unfortunate situation and no one is at fault. We have 3 wrestlers who are exceptional but they were born in June and will miss the cut-off for Yorktown's tournament (July 1st). We decided not to participate without these 3 wrestlers who have been pivotal to our team and our undefeated season (so far). The 3 boys have never been held back and started school when they were supposed to start by Indiana Dept. of Education cut-off for the 8th grade class (back when they started school). Coach McCormick had to settle on a cut-off date and has been more than forgiving about setting up the rules. Rules will always affect some differently and not everyone will be happy when cut-off dates are set. Obviously, we would like to make the trip but we feel without our entire line-up, we will forgo the tourney. Good luck to those who participate, it should be a great experience! --Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling
