  1. I am glad you like that, Grenadier2012. I am a little sick and tired of people complaining and whining yet they offer nothing in terms of a solution. Instead of dealing with this issue properly, WALTHARRIS gets on the discussion board and publicly cries about the ISWA. He could have very easily sent an email or phoned Chris Lynch or a board member. Again, I am not a board member so my opinion doesn't reflect their intentions at all...but after years of wrestling all over the country, there are times that a tournament is not going to run the way you want it to. It's called the nature of wrestling and if anyone plans on being around this sport for a significant amount of time, you had better be ready for it...so get over it! Do you know how many tournaments last ALL DAY with long time periods between bouts? A lot! Does that make it right? No. Does it mean you get on a public forum and act like a smart a**? Nope.
  2. First of all, let me preface this by saying that I have never been an ISWA board member. I have either wrestled or coached in Indiana for the past 31 years (coached for 21, wrestled for 10). It's fair to say that I have been around the sport for awhile... Here are two NON-standard lines for ya: 1. Move to another state. 2. Don't attend the tournament.
  3. From the Region, DARDEN SCHURG. (110-115lbs) He comes from a long line of Schurg boys who wrestle in Indiana and recently won Middle School State defeating Harvey. He has placed in the ISWA for many years and he looks to be coming "of age" so to say...very physical wrestler. Darden wrestles for Coaches Tsirtsis, Sessa, and Hawkins at RWA (Region Wrestling Academy). I, of course, have to give a shout out for SCOTTIE SOPKO! He is someone to watch out for...he's a HOBART kid and has won many ISWA state titles and been on Team Indiana squads that have competed all over.
  4. Lowell Placers... Big Sam Steward-3rd Kenny Hughes-4th, HS division. Jake Tucker-5th Drew Hughes-Lost the match to place; faced #1 seed, Caid Brock (OK) in first round---lost 2-0, Brock won it all. (He also defeated Helickson from Iowa in OT) DEHART TRAINED placer... Ryan Ford-Lost the match to place, wrestled well. A very competitive tournament!
  5. 17 weight classes at Middle School State: Perry-28 wrestlers--------112 Franklin-23 wrestlers-------111 Lowell-9 wrestlers----------107 Great job by everyone!
  6. bburgcatman, Now that's interesting...I haven't thought of that, you might be onto to something.
  7. If this match materializes, I will have to go with Nathan...albeit in a close one!
  8. I know its' terrible, just terrible...the US is going to crumble because of these dreadful parents who live their lives through their kids and athletics! It's disgusting.
  9. Is it true that Cody Phillips was a red-shirt? (held back or repeated 8th grade?) I know that Jon Morrison, the OK ST starter for Coach John Smith was a red-shirt in 8th grade. There are many, many more examples... The bottom line is...it's a family decision, each parent has to make decisions based upon their own situation. RE: Incoming Freshman I think Tommy Cash will be on the podium next year at 103lbs as a Freshman.
  10. I do know for a fact that the three (3) 8th graders mentioned earlier will be 18 years old at the time of the state finals their senior year. All are young in their grades and if they repeat 8th grade, that is their families' decision, not the school's, nor the IHSAA, and certainly not any forum posters. FACT: Until you attend your 1st class in HS (in August), the IHSAA has absolutely no control over whether a family decides to hold-back their child and attend a private school or be home schooled. Once the child attends that class as a freshman, he/she falls under the auspices of the IHSAA and must adhere to any/all rules.
  11. BRANDON JAMES: Will be a Total Stud next year after sitting out a year. I am sure that there are some current 8th graders who will not be attending HS next year as well. They are holding back...
  12. The most exciting point of the day-------the semi's were going in some brackets and finals going in other brackets....I looked at Ken Hughes and told him, "This is the best part of a long day----the electricity in this place is unbelievable". I remember looking around the mats on the main floor and it was awesome! Thanks IHSWCA for a great day of wrestling!
  13. With all fairness to NOSOCCERMOMHERE, A 4th place finisher is, at times, hard to predict...as you said he was a "sleeper". If you look at the results, NOSOCCERMOMHERE did a very good job at picking the placers.

  17. Fuqua, Micic, Buckley, Garza, Miracle, Overby, and Marciano are pretty much SAFE this week, I think they all get through to the SS...but who gets out from there? Since I know most of these wrestlers personally, I wish them all the best! It's going to be exciting to watch this go down to the wire!
