  2. Thanks tskin. Taylor has lost to Smith 2 times, so that may be a factor for the #1 seed also. This will be an interesting weight class to seed and to see how it plays out on sectional Saturday.
  3. I think it only matters if you are the returning champion in the same weight class.
  4. Taylor is a returning sectional champ also.
  5. Columbus North 32 New Palestine 31 103 Daniel Wright (NP) pin Deven Orben (CN) 112 Sergio Garcia (CN) pin Max Ingalls (NP) 119 Conner Trein (NP) decision Caleb Albertson (CN) 6-2 125 Conner Robinson (NP) decision Caden McGaha (CN) 10-5 130 Keenan Winters (CN) pin Colton Brindie (NP) 135 Tommy Pearson (NP) major decision Mike Hughes (CN) 15-4 140 Jacob Milenbaugh (CN) win by forfeit. 145 David Waldrip (NP) decision Marcus Wadell (CN) 7-6 152 Jake Jennings (NP) pin Corey Bland (CN) 160 Gabe Holt (CN) decision Jaymes Horden (NP) 4-1 171 Gabe Watson (CN) decision Mike Phelps (NP) 9-7 189 Jarrett Brownfield (CN) major decision Jacob Poynter (NP) 17-4 215 Trevor Furr (NP) pin Matt Brown (CN) 285 Jowen Gill (CN) major decision Antonio Halbert (NP) 13-3
  6. I think Jennings County, Columbus East, New Washington, Rushville, Knightstown and Milan.
  7. Taylor has beaten both Resch and Rieker but not wrestled Colon. Colon has beaten Resch and lost to Rieker but not wrestled Taylor. Resch has lost to Taylor and Colon but beaten Rieker. Rieker has lost to Taylor and Resch and beaten Colon. Between Taylor and Colon I'm not sure of all of the common opponents. Both have beaten Resch and Both have beaten Smith (Jeff) but Smith has also beaten Taylor 2 times. In my opinion it will come down to overall record. In that case I think Colon wil get the #1 seed then Taylor will be #2, Resch #3 and Rieker #4. Of course it is possible it could change again because Resch and Rieker will go at each other again next weekend.
  8. I would like to thank all of the families and friends of the HHC schools that gave donations to the family of a Columbus East wrestler. Last Wednesday evening, just minutes after weigh in for our meet with Columbus North, 1 of our wrestlers recieved a phone call that his house was on fire. The result of that fire was a total loss of the Torres family home. At the HHC tournament on Saturday, donations of money, food and clothing items were collected from the schools of our great conference. Again thank you all for the kind support you gave to the Torres family. Wendell Chitwood Columbus East Wrestling
  9. I agree with this in most cases. However, some of us are both the parent and the coach and at times it can be a real fine line to tapdance with.
  10. Cloumbus East wrestlers competed in the HHC Tournament at Jeffersonville High School on Saturday. The Olympians had 3 wrestlers make the final. Steven Rieker was the 103 pound champion defeating Alonzo Shepherd of Jeffersonville 2-1. Billy Bryant at 152 and Ashton Brierly at 160 were both runner up. Bryant lost in the final to Alex Bailey of Jeffersonville 2-1 and Brierly lost the final to Jennings County's Bryan Beiswanger 3-1. 1. Jeffersonville 263 Points 2. Jennings County 200 3. Floyd Central 177 4. Madison 157.5 5. Columbus East 145 6. New Albany 118 7. Seymour 70 8. Bedford North Lawrence 48 103 Steven Rieker 3-0 1st 112 Baron Rieker 2-2 4th 119 Zach Rieker 3-1 3rd 125 Jake Carlile 2-2 4th 130 Zane Clark 1-3 6th 135 Carson Fleetwood 1-3 6th 140 Caleb Ogle 2-2 5th 145 Aaron Heeb 1-3 6th 152 Billy Bryant 2-1 2nd 160 Ashton Brierly 2-1 2nd 171 JJ Huddleston 0-3 8th 189 Tyler Smith 2-2 5th 215 Evan Elsbury 0-3 8th 285 Tyson Moore 2-2 5th
  11. There has to be hard criteria for seeding at these meetings. If not arguments about opinions could last for hours. Based on basic wins, losses and common oponent criteria, it sounds like it was seeded correctly.
  12. My unbiased opinion in order........ 103 Rieker (CE) Shepherd (JEFF) Gibson (MAD) 112 Rieker (CE) Taylor (MAD) Smith (JEFF) 119 Martin (NA) Rieker (CE) Miller (JEFF) 125 Weekly (JEFF) Gary (NA) Adams (MAD) 130 Reitman (JC) Walker (JEFF) Witt (FC) 135 Blackman (FC) Marthin (MAD) Fleetwood (CE) 140 Armand (JC) Murphy (FC) Whalen (MAD) 145 Moberly (FC) Hendricks (JEFF) Heeb (CE) 152 Bryant (CE) Bailey (JEFF) Emerson (FC) 160 Brierly (CE) Beiswanger (JC) Shallers (FC) 171 McAndrew (FC) Browner (JEFF) Biggs (JC) 189 Tatgenhorst (JEFF) Kopitzke (JC) McKinney (FC) 215 Collett (JC) Pratt (JEFF) McPike (BNL) 285 Traughber (FC) Hoke (NA) Caum (JC) - I heard Clark was on crutches last week Top 5 teams will be a closer dogfight than most think 1. Jeffersonville 2. Columbus East 3. Floyd Central 4. Jennings County 5. Madison 6. New Albany 7. Bedford North Lawrence 8. Seymour
  13. That's awesome. Hopefully more newspapers will give recognition to these guys every week.
  14. There are a couple of schools in the HHC that are not in school today, so will there be an extra 1 pound allowance at the HHC tournament tomorrow? Coach Struck, Do you know if there will be an extra 1 pound tomorrow?
  15. He is tough. He also pinned Rieker who beat Colon the other night.
  16. He wretled 125 at our duals tournament last weekend.
  17. This is intended to recognize those who have had a great year individually...It should help bring recognition and awareness of talented kids who were not able to make it to "The Big Show" due to injury, etc. Obviously it will never replace the results of the finals, but it DOES give the fans in the state an option to gain recognition for kids who have worked their butts off. That can't be a bad thing now can it? I think the true All State wrestlers are the guys that are on the podium. I like the idea, however if we decide to do something like this we should name something different than All State.
  18. If this kid has a history of this type of behavior and this was not an isolated incident, hopefully the coaches are dealing with the problem. If you feel that the coaches are ignoring the problem, I would suggest that the AD get involved.
