  1. Actually the line probably begins and ends in Beech Grove since that is where the office is and there is never a line for a thankless job. (notice...not an answer, just a statement)
  2. I think they have been infiltrated by the Russians.
  3. My real question is why would anyone want to be an ISWA Board Member? They volunteer COUNTLESS hours, many of them don't have children still involved so they are working for other people's kids, everyone with a keyboard has a better way of doing things and they don't hesitate to point it out and make it a personal attack. You get your integrity and intelligence questioned, most of the things you hear are negative. If by chance you do something right, you would rarely hear it. I guess you do get a free polo shirt. I can't believe the line to be a Board Member doesn't start at the ISWA office and extend north thru Muncie, crossing over into Warsaw, then up to Ft Wayne and west to Wheeler.
  4. That really hurts my feelings. I'm very sensitive. I do understand, though. I can't imagine what it would be like to go through life as a Bear and ND fan. It must make fall weekends very traumatic.
  5. Btw...I was thinking about you just the other day. I had to change the password on my laptop so I tried to change it to Nick Weisjahn and I got an error message that said "password too short"????
  6. But I type slow so guys like you and Joe can follow along.
  7. Story number 2.... I moved to Indiana from Ohio in May of 1996. In the spring of 1997 I was asked to give the annual freestyle rules clinic to the ISWA Membership. At the time, clubs that hosted a tournament were required to have a referee attend the rules clinic and a pairier attend the pairing clinic. In those days we had a lot more referees and pairers so the clinics were very well attended. About a week or two after I gave the clinic I go referee a local club tournament. I was officiating a Cadet bout when the match ended in a fall. The mom of the losing wrestler marched to the scorer's table and informed me that I called the fall too quickly. She added very proudly that she attended the clinic and they brought in some big shot from Ohio to go over the rules. She told me the big shot from Ohio said that a fall in the Cadet age group was 3 seconds. She went on to say that had I attended the clinic I would have known that and got the call right. I tried to explain that there is no level of wrestling where there is a 3 second fall other than professional wrestling. She wasn't having any of it. I finally asked her if I looked vaguely familiar to her. She still didn't make the connection.
  8. I had a mom come out on the mat at Folkstyle State a few years ago at Ben Davis. I think her child was in the Novice age group. Her child lost on a takedown just prior to the buzzer. She came out on the mat pointed at me and yelled "F-you! F-you! F-you!" except she did not abbreviate the F. The ISWA Security Officer came over to the mat and said "I heard her but now I don't see her." I informed him she was the nice lady standing behind the scorer's table giving us the finger. He escorted her to the front door and she let him know what she thought of him too. This was on Saturday and he told her if she set foot on the property within the next 48 hours she was going to jail for trespassing. I would rather deal with some of the more excitable high school coaches in the state than crazy parents. I know what to expect from the coaches. I have no idea what the parents are going to do.
  9. Or people get stuck to it and can't move on
  10. I'm not sure there is a better event over 4 days than the SB Duals. If I were coaching and had an elite athlete, this is where he would be.
  11. Go easy on JMILL. He told me Sunday he was a Michigan football fan. (I typed slow so JMILL could follow along).
  12. This particular hair cover does not cover the goatee. In order to wrestle with a goatee/beard the wrestler would need to wear a face mask or a hair cover the completely covers the facial hair. The chin cup on the headgear is not considered part of the hair cover. Tom Clark IHSAA Rules Interpreter
  13. Sorry, but in this forum we only answer questions that pertain to the actual rules of wrestling and how they are interpreted. Questions regarding issues such as yours, weight management, eligibility, etc., are referred to Mr. Faulkens at the IHSSA. I am sorry I wasn't much help. Good luck this season. 14. There is no minimum weight to wrestle 106. Tom Clark IHSAA Rules Interpreter
  15. It is the responsibility of the referee to look after the safety of all wrestlers, not just the one with the note. Under the rule, it is the responsibility of the wrestler and the coach to provide the correct form. I realize it could be costly, but that is the rule we are to abide by. Minnesota suspend all wrestling for a few weeks a couple of years ago because of rampant skin condition issues (Mrsa). We are told to error on the side of safety for ALL participants.
  16. “ART. 5 . . . A contestant may have documentation from an appropriate health-care professional only indicating a specific condition such as a birthmark or other non-communicable skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema, and that documentation is valid for the duration of the season. It is valid with the understanding that a chronic condition could become secondarily infected and may require re-evaluation.” Otherwise the note must be 7 days old or less if the skin condition was contagious. Note-The coach must present the proper skin condition form found on the IHSAA website. If the form is not completed correctly or the condition has changed from the time the form was completed the referee and/or the ONSITE medical professional may overrule the form. 17. Not winning those doesn't mean a great deal right now. Nor are they worth $275,000. ($250k Living the Dream Fund and $25k USOC).
  18. In the last 12 months he hasaccomplished the following... 2015 World Champion 2016 Big Ten Champion 2016 NCAA Champion 2016 Olympic Trials Champion (defeating the defending Olympic Champion) 2016 Olympic Champion Not a bad year!

  20. 8 wrestlers to be flag bearers http://www.teamusa.org/USA-Wrestling/Features/2016/August/05/Eight-wrestlers-are-flagbearers-for-Rio-Olympic-Games
  21. I think it's a blessing in disguise. Concentrate on winning the gold medal and avoid the other distractions that come with the Games.
  22. The year Grammer placed 3rd in D-1 his only loss in that tournament was in the semi's to current US Senator and possibly future POTUS Jim Jordan who beat some guy named John Smith from Oklahoma State in the finals.
  23. I knew you would know that...saved me looking it up.
  24. How did Ohio finish in the Jr Duals this year?
  25. There are lots of D-2 and D-3 coaches there as well. You have been there to see it for yourself. How many college coaches are at the Disney Duals?
