  1. What was sad about the whole thing was a bus from another school passed them on the way to the sectional and there coach on that bus said he wondered where they were going because they were going back towards Mitchell. He said the weather was the same in the Mitchell area as the weather at Southridge.
  2. A few years ago Mitchell was unable to attend the Southridge sectional due to a very light dusting of snow on the road. There was snow falling for maybe 15-30 minutes. The bus driver thought it would get worse and turned around. The snow melted in a few hours instead. The tournament director offered to wait and start a few hours late if they could make it then. Mitchell could not come latter and the IHSAA said to go ahead and have the sectional without Mitchell. That year the Mitchell coach and wrestlers wanted to come to the sectional and the bus driver made the call to end those kids season.
  3. Based on the seeds Jasper should win. The Jasper 103 will score 22 points and place 2nd if he makes weight. If everyone places where they are seeded Jasper has a 22 point lead in placement points.
  4. It does not matter which school moves on in a double forfeit. Neither team will get points from a double forfeit.
  5. they have been sent in to be posted. It may take some time before he gets them up. Is there anything you really want to know right now?
  6. Yes, I forgot to list the forfeit in with the other ways you get 2pts for winning.
  7. 6. Consideration for determining seeded wrestlers is given in order of importance: a. Head to head competition; (The wrestler with the most head to head wins gets the seed. If they have beaten each other an equal number of times, then the winner of the last match gets the seed.); b. Record against common opponents; c. A returning champion or runner-up in the same weight class; d. A contestant with the best overall record (winning percentage) who has wrestled at least 10 matches; NOTE: A wrestler with less than ten matches may not be seeded ahead of a wrestler with at least ten matches and a winning record unless he/she meets criteria in a, b or c. A wrestler with a losing record may not be seeded unless he/she meets criteria a, b or c unless there are less than six (6) wrestlers in the bracket.
  8. Scoring is by placement, advancement and bonus points. You get placement points for 1st to 6th place. 1st place = 16pts. 2nd place = 12pts. 3rd place = 9pts. 4th place = 7pts. 5th place = 5pts. 6th place = 3pts. You get advancement points when you win a match other than the matches for the final placement. You get 2pts each time you advance in the championship half of the bracket or 1 point for advancing in the consolation half of the bracket. Bonus points. You get 2pts if you win by fall, disqualification, injury default, or forfeit. You get 1.5 points if you win by tech. fall, 1point for winning by major decision. You get no points for a win by decision other that the advancement points. If you are in a sectional with more than 8 teams you will have byes in the bracket in the first round. No points are scored from a bye in the first round, however if you get a bye the first round and then win the second round match you will get 2 additional points due to the first round bye. If you lost the 2nd round match you get nothing for having a bye in the first round.
  9. If he is going up in weight there is no requirement to have a weigh-in at that higher weight.
  10. I think Tell City will be something like this: 103 Jessie Lawalin 112 forfeit 119 AJ Flynn 125 Matt Sabelhaus 130 Andy Kast 135 Chris Martin 140 Jon Yates 145 Ryan Henrickson 152 Dillon Hedinger 160 Justin Kleemann 171 Matt Leistner 189 Dustin Gould 215 Dylan Froehlich 285 Jordan Keown
  11. Tecumseh JR High School. Feeds into Tecumseh High School. Coach Aaron Chambers.
  12. This is the IHSAA by-laws ?18-1 To be eligible scholastically, students must have received passing grades and earned credit at the end of their last grading period in school in at least seventy percent (70%) of the maximum number of full credit subjects (or the equivalent) that a student can take and must be currently enrolled in at least seventy percent (70%) of the maximum number of full credit subjects (or the equivalent) that a student can take. Semester grades take precedence. Two semesters of the state required physical education course may be counted as a full credit subject for eligibility purposes even though a full credit is not granted by the Department of Education. When the block four scheduling program is used, students must be currently enrolled in and passing three courses. Class periods must meet Indiana Department of Education standards for awarding credit and minutes in class. NOTE: A full credit subject requires a minimum total of 250 minutes of instruction per week for one semester. Maximum Classes 4 5 6 7 8 Must Pass.............. 3 4 5 5 6 18-1.6 Students who are ineligible scholastically at the end of a grading period or semester, are ineligible for the following grading period. From the question an answer section of the by-laws: Q. 18-4 If a student is academically ineligible at the end of a grading period or semester, is the student academically ineligible for the entire next grading period? A. Yes, an academically ineligible student at the end of any grading period is academically ineligible for the entire next grading period. (Rule 18-1.6) Q. 18-5 If a student is academically ineligible at the end of a grading period or a semester, when can the player become academically eligible? A. If, following a period of academic ineligibility a student successfully meets all academic requirements during a succeeding grading period, the student will be eligible to play on the date the principal certifies grades for the succeeding grading period. Here the student would be eligible on the certification date for the succeeding grading period. (Rule 18-2) Q. 18-6 Is a student who had been academically ineligible during a grading period, but who meets the scholarship requirements the next grading period, eligible to play the night of the last day of the next grading period? A. It depends on the certification date of the student?s school. A student becomes academically ineligible on the certification date and also academically eligible on the certification date. Here, if the certification date is the last date of the grading period, then the student would be academically eligible to play sports that day. If the certification date was the following Tuesday, then the player would be eligible the following Tuesday. (Rule 18-2) 18-2 Each school will establish consistent grading periods within the school year. The principal shall certify these specific dates to the Association on the membership form and certification dates for eligibility if different from ending dates. Certification of eligibility must be completed no later than noon of the tenth school day following the end of a grading period as specified on the membership form.? So the date the school has established to certify the grades to the IHSAA after the next grading period is the date an ineligible student could become eligible again.
  13. I do not know why he went up. What I think is that he may have trouble making weight at 112lbs. He wrestled in a two day tournament at Evansville Reitz on Dec. 5th and 6th and wrestled 112lbs the first day but I do not think he made 112 on the second day. I could be wrong and the answer may be that Jasper as a team is better with him at 119lbs. I have no idea if he is going to go 112 or 119 at the sectional.
  14. Anything can happen in a wrestling match but last year at the sectional Jeremy Steckler from Southridge beat Micheal Creel from Pike Central 10-7. Latter in the tourney Micheal Creel beat Evan Day from Mitchell 21-6.
  15. I am not the assistant coach for Jasper, and I am not related to the Chambers that wrestlers for Jasper.
  16. I did not see that so I have no idea what they talked about. I do know that the ref has been asking for the chance to ref some matches at Southridge and had requested the Jasper vs. Southridge match on the years it is at Southridge. The ref may have been asking for that match next year. Or maybe the AD was asking about the call in the 215lbs match. It was the correct call but then the ref confused many poeple by beginning to signal a TD when he had not yet awarded a escape. Actually you predicted a score of Raiders 40 Jasper 18! You were off by 8 points for Jasper. I said that I thought Southridge would win but the score would be closer which it was.
  17. If the wrestler had a form filled out and signed by his parents he could have lost an additional 2% of the 131.2 which would have made his minimum weight 128.5 however if he did not do that and send it in the the IHSAA by the deadline of Dec 26th he is not going to be able to wrestle 130 at the sectional. He would have been able to wrestle 130 in the regular season after the 2lb allowance.
  18. At the Evansville Memorial tournament on 12-13-08 Dilliard of Paoli lost to Adam Ingram from Southridge 16-0 at 189lbs. If he went down to 171 he would have Ivan Stetter from Southridge. Stetter is better than Ingram. Also at 189 at the Southridge sectional is the returning sectional champion at 189 Ray Rossi from North Knox and the 2nd place guy (who I think has beat Rossi this year) Tanner McGowan from Vincennes. Adam Kunkel from Jasper I think split matches with Ingram last year. Dilliard from Paoli will have to upset someone just to place in the top 4 at 189lbs.
  19. Jeremy Steckler from Southridge should win 160lbs at the Southridge sectional.
  20. Early in December they had a short story about the Bosse wrestlers.
  21. They do have a story up today about wrestling. http://www.courierpress.com/news/2009/jan/19/mater-dei-wrestler-zenthoefer-back-track-after-inj/
  22. The way it worked for me this year is my AD sent me an email that had the link to the site where you enter the wrestlers information for the entry list. The instructions are on that same site. I then emailed it back to the AD.
  23. The injured wrestler may be replaced but the guy you are going to replace him with must be on the official entry list and that wrestler must be listed at that weight or the one below that weight. You can list more than one wrestler on the official entry list that is sent online to the IHSAA.
