  1. Evansville Central
  2. On the Tecumseh team page can you change our sectional site? We had been going to Evansville Central for sectional. As of Nov 6th IHSAA meeting we have been moved to the Castle sectional. Mt. Vernon has been moved from Castle to Evansville Central. I believe those two teams are the only ones that changed sectional sites. Also can we add the 2015 season team record is is that something you have to do? I did not see a way to add it.
  3. I think they want to know the number of duals that just involve your team and one other that day. Not counting dual tournaments.
  4. Tecumseh 4 but working to change it to 6 maybe next year.
  5. I think they want to know the number of duals that just involve your team and one other that day. Not counting dual tournaments.
  6. Michael Duckworth was hired as the Varsity Wrestling coach at Princeton High School. Coach Duckworth had been the coach at Evansville Bosse for a few years.
  7. The rule is that a team must be within 15 points of the highest scoring team that was not an automatic pick. Hamilton Heights was 18 points behind that team so by rule they could not be given consideration.
  8. I am the coach at Tecumseh. We had our chance to score enough points in the tournament to get an automatic bid. We lost two matches that we were winning. If we would have won one of them we would have got an automatic bid. We had our chance and failed. We will go back to work and plan to score enough points to earn our way in next time. We would have liked to be voted in but I have no problem with how the vote went. I am sure Churubusco and Attica do well at the state duals.
  9. Here is the IHSAA By-law 60-2 The maximum number of season wrestling dual meets in which any team or student may participate, excluding the IHSAA Tournament Series, shall be Eighteen (18); however, a team or student may participate in additional season tournaments (an interschool wrestling meet which involved Three (3) or more schools is a tournament) up to a maximum of Seven (7), provided each tournament counts as Two (2) of the Eighteen (18) dual meets. A triangular meet (double dual) is counted as Two (2) dual meets towards a team’s Four (4) dual meet maximum permitted. Each weigh-in for any tournament shall count as only One (1) weigh-in toward the minimum requirements for IHSAA Tournament Series qualification.
  10. How about if those twins each are heavyweights who are 285 pounds. Twin #1 at the big school has 2 other guys over 250lbs to practice with. Twin #2 at the little school has a guy who wrestles 220 but only weighs 188lbs. The next biggest guy he has to practice with weighs under 180lbs. Do you still think they have the same chance to get to state?
  11. Explain how you think the 106 kid loses out? I believe that he would actually be helped. At this time my 106 can drill with the varsity 120 or 126. He also has to wrestle live with the varsity 120 or 126. He gets nothing out of wrestling live with the varsity 120 or 126 because they are so much better he can not work anything. A new 120 or 126 would give him someone he could work some moves on and get match like experience.
  12. Who said anything about the new 120 or 126 being better (magically or any other way) than the 106? The varsity 120 and 126 I have can wrestle each other. The new 120 or 126 could wrestle the 106. They would be at the same skill level as you said.
  13. Class wrestling would not get me more 113's because the kids just are not there in the school. What I might get is more 120's or 126's. That way 50% of my varsity 120 or varsity 126's time would not be spent wrestling with the 106. It could be spread around more.
  14. The school size does matter for individuals. I coach at Tecumseh. We are a small school with 282 students. Around half of those are boys. On my team this year we had a forfeit at 113. In the entire school there were just three boys that were small enough to wrestle 113. One of them was my 106. Another was my 120. He could have cut to 113 if his parents signed the paperwork for the weight control program. Then I would have had a forfeit at 120. The only other boy in the school who could have been 113 is on the swimming team. My 106 was a first year wrestler who moved into the school this year. Now I will compare that to Castle because they are nearby and I saw their JV team at a few tournaments. Castle has 1861 students. IF I remember right they had around 4 106 pound wrestlers this year. I don't know how many 113s they had. My 106 has to practice with our 120 or 126. He gets a lot out of it because those guys have been wrestling awhile and can teach him alot. The problem is that the guy wrestling him gets very little out of the time they are practicing with the 106 because they are so much better. I like the effort I get from our 106 and I think he will turn out to be a good wrestler in time. Right now as a practice partner he is not a positive. The 120 and 126 can do anything they want at anytime and he cannot stop them. Castle on the other hand has several guys at each weight so they can find a good practice partner for all of their varsity guys.
  15. How many kids did you have on your team this year?
  16. I think that #163 North Harrison does not have a wrestling team. Also #187 Brownstown Central does not have a wrestling team.
  17. Back when there was the IHSAA team state tournament there was a tie at the Southridge sectional. This was when the winner went on to the team regional. Both teams were officially sectional champions but they did have way to determine which team advanced to the team regional.
  18. The rule book says that there is not ties in duals. There is a list of tie breakers for duals. There is not a list to break ties in the rule book for individual tournaments.
  19. Wrestling room? What is that? At Tecumseh we roll one 42 x 42 mat out in the cafeteria each day. That is the only space I have for high school, jr high and elementary wrestling. There is a 15 x 25 foot room they call the wrestling room. 6 years ago when we only had 4 wrestlers we practiced there. You can fit 6 guys in it to practice if they are not very big guys.
  20. There may be some wiggle room in that bylaw as it says a sport may be split into 3 classes if 75% of the schools have teams. Depends on if the IHSAA says it must be or if they say it may be but does not have to be 3.
  21. The IHSAA bylaws call for 3 classes if a sport has 75% of the schools fielding a team. There are 410 member schools. 75% of 410 would be 307.5. There are 308 schools on the list you posted.
