  1. Why in the world would we want that? I remember the last time the ISWA held Freestyle State at BS and it wasn't nearly as accommodating. They were very restrictive on where you could move around in the building, and you couldn't watch a match unless you were seated as there were no sight lines once you left the bleachers. New Castle's facility allows for freedom of movement, more than ample parking, and great sight lines from almost anywhere in the Fieldhouse. (If the BBall goals were removeable, then it would be perfect!)
  2. On the opposite side, kudos to Dave Fleming and the Warren Central staff for providing a great day of wrestling at the Warren Sectional site. Warren stepped in to volunteer their facilities and crew at the last minute when the IHSAA was notified that the original host site declined, and WC did a wonderful job! Attaboy Dave!!
  3. Southern Hancock County (New Pal) Schools are closed for Thursday, Jan 29th.
  4. From what I heard Campbell can beat Mullins so if McKinley wrestles Campbell it should be an interesting match. I don't mean to bad mouth any wrestlers, but I lost a little respect for Harvey. He refused to wrestle Campbell because he didn't want to lose. I understand you don't ever really want to lose, but you win some you lose some. Will Arsenal wrestle New Castle? I spoke to a kid from there and he said that Dominique Price is pretty big too. If you don't mean to, then simply don't. I remember the first day Brian Harvey stepped on to the mat, and have yet to see a day when he was afraid to wrestle anyone.
  5. Congratulations to the Yorktown Tigers on winning the Hoosier Heritage Conference Championship!! ;D The tigers roared yesterday, and looked pretty good doing it. The tournament rolled along smoothly, thanks to the Yorktown crew, with constant action and good officiating. It was a good day of wrestling. 8)
  6. 2444 East Washington Street - El Sol De Tala
  7. Great ideas, but Most Valuable (cough, cough) ??Player?? (aghhh) . How about MVW?? ;D Much better now. ;D
  8. ;D You may very well be correct, and for all I know you may also have been the fan that I referred to in my post that pointed out to me that Richards had already been hit with a stall call earlier. I just thought that the Freshman showed well for himself by still being in the match 1-1 with regulation time expiring against a much longer, lankier Senior who most would have expected to dominate, but didn't, and maybe couldn't. Which goes back to Y2's initial observation that as a Freshman @ 189, that's not too shaggy.
  9. Great observation Y2, I thought Richards did a good job last night in his match, Frosh vs Senior. In the 3rd period they were both starting to look pretty worn out, but Richards still appeared to me to be more of the agressor. I couldn't believe it when the Ref hit him for the penalty point that decided the match, as it appeared to me that Richards was forcing the action on the line and the action carried them both out. Although another fan mentioned to me that Richards had already received one stall warning, and when he stepped out - BANG - the referee awarded the point to the Cathedral wrestler. I'm with Dingo on this one, it seemed mysteriously iffy, and a not so good way to decide the winner of a tight match with only seconds remaining. We were sitting at the top of the bleachers, directly across from the scoring table, and from that viewpoint they could still have put a few more people in the stands on the far side, but it was probably around 1200-1300 total.
  10. 2006 - 07 145 lb semi-final loss vs eventual undefeated state champ Jamal Lawrence of Merrillville in a very exciting 14-9 match. And it was sweet!! 8)
  11. We're barely SE of Indy, and all it took was the hint of snow.... :-\ Haven't seen the first flake. Edit: Apparently Columbia City called to say they wouldn't make it, and it snowballed from there....
  12. According to the Southern Hancock County (New Pal) cell alert system, the Reserve Invitational @ Cathedral and the New Palestine Invitational (Varsity), along with all other extracurricular activities @ New Pal, have been cancelled for Saturday, January 10th, 2009. This bytes. :

  14. New Palestine 45 - Franklin Central 27
  15. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!!
  16. New Palestine was 5-0 on the day: 63 - 4 vs Greenfield Central 62 - 9 vs Triton Central 59 - 12 vs Union County 43 - 21 vs Noblesville 54 - 15 vs Mt. Vernon (Fortville)
  17. First year Varsity wrestler Jacob Poynter of New Pal, 11, pins 189 lb #6 ranked Leach of Avon, in huge comeback victory. Leach had Poynter in near-fall as buzzer sounds ending the period, a split second before pin call was made. Pin call was waved off, and Poynter capitalized on opportunity with big win.
  18. Any news or update to this? Did they find another team, or teams? This had been a pretty good 6-way previously, with teams like Lawrence Central, Warren, & Roncalli in addition to Avon, New Pal & Perry. It's very surprising that it has dwindled down to just 3 schools now. Where are the challengers???
  19. Which teams will be at Perry Meridian this coming Saturday, 12/13/08 ?
  20. He would know better than I. I was going by the final team score that was displayed, and assumed it was decided by criteria when in fact the score could have been posted wrong.
  21. 33-33, New Palestine wins on criteria.
  22. Pendleton Heights and New Pal will be there. Anybody know what other teams will also be there?
  23. Okay, I'll byte. Who said TSpray had any knowledge of class, let alone wrestling??? ;D ;D ;D
