  1. Next year Crown Point is getting both Stanley and Shepherd, reloading some of what they will lose.
  2. Heard Center Grove's 220 state qualifier Royce Deckard is at Roncalli this year. Was a rumor that Crown Point was supposed to get the Isek family back from Colorado, as well as Rianne Murphy from Wyoming Sem. Was told they are staying where they are at. Also heard Jalen May is at Warren Central. #BringBackTheTights
  3. Harvey was a stud, as was Baumann. Would almost come down to if those guys get a takedown. Id imagine neither of them would go down, but what do I know.
  4. Check me if I am wrong but Slivka never wrestled 138 (thought a Cathedral guy would know this). Slivka was and is great but give me Cody LeCount and Weinzapfel over him any day. Think his best shot for a victory would be at 152.
  5. So you think many schools will have multiple stipends open up? Will girls be allowed to compete still on the boys side? When will youth clubs practice? Like I stated many questions still need to be answered. Many school have more than one basketball floor, it is not that easy in wrestling. Again, it is great for the sport and I am thrilled, however, I believe a plan needs to be layed out for everyone to see.
  6. I am very worried what this is going to look like when it is approved as a sport. Are schools going to need to split their wrestling stipends? I know most schools will not be able to have a separate wrestling stipend budget for just girl's wrestling. This is absolutely great for the sport if it is done the right way. There needs to be a plan that is structured and followed. It would be beneficial if the IHSAA contacted the coaches of EMD, Crown Point, Center Grove, etc. How is it going to look at their school and use their input. Are some schools going to be able to have a second wrestling room? If you can wall a room off and throw some mats down then both teams can switch off days or weeks. Is girls wrestling going to follow the same season has the boy's?? Many questions that need to be answered.
  7. All valid questions. Would it be best if it was a spring or fall sport? Room use makes it very difficult to host two practices AND a middle school/youth practice. Very few schools have the opportunity to have multiple rooms.
  8. Interesting to see Evan Bates listed under Chesterton Wrestling Club and not Northwestern, wonder if he is still there.
  9. Don't think Schoeff is confirmed but had a buddy text me that said he has been spotted with the Ben Davis peeps and wants to go there. Heard Rinehart is pretty official, old man got job up in Valparaiso and that is where he will be attending next year. Have heard a couple rumblings about some coming to EMD but want to hold them close to me because they are not confirmed.
  10. What offseason transfers are people hearing? I have heard a few different ones: Carroll to Jimtown, Schoeff to Ben Davis, Rinehart to Crown Point any others I am missing?
  11. Was a joy to watch this young man compete this year. I do agree 285 seems like a stretch. I think he would be a very nice 197 pounder and would compete very well there. He has the length if he puts on some strength he could be very interesting at that weight.
  12. This is my bad, had bad information. Was told Cottey had June birthday.
  13. I can't imagine that these two families or Brownsburg coaches would allow the two kids to be too old to compete their senior years. They might be like Cottey a few years ago and turn 20 after the state tournament.
  14. cannot wait to have a Heavyhandz t-shirt. Ill bring a pair of Mater Dei tights if you can take me down.
  15. If you want to debate the semi states lets do it. CP is the best dual team they have already showed that. The point of the post was to put CP in Evansville, and see how many champs they would have. EMD has two locks this weekend and will have close to 50 points between them, Seng, Schaefer, Critchfield, May will determine if we have the strength to win it all. I think we will be right in the mix and I am very excited to see some Wildcats pull off the upset. #BringBackTheTights
  16. Goodwin is very good. Could he win it? Absolutely. I am taking Law and Conway for sure over him and maybe even Boe. Jendreas will have Schaefer Saturday morning. Think it will be a very close match, very excited to see how it plays out. Again, these are just my opinions, not looking to get attacked just my two cents. #BringBackTheTights
  17. If CP attended the Evansville semi-state how many champs would they have? I can count 3 (Frazier, Mendez, Goin) I think 106: 4th 113:DNP 120: DNP 126: 1st 132: 3rd 138: 1st 145: 2nd 152: 1st 160: 4th 170: DNP 182: 2nd 195: DNP 4th at best 220: DNP HWT: DNP This would make life real interesting for the red dogs. EMD would outscore them and would bring home the title. Baumann, Sollars, Critchfield, Seng, Schaeffer, May will all be top 4 this weekend and we will at least 2 champs. When did the famous Region get so bad? Hanover Central, Mishawaka, Lake Central, Munster, and Griffith used to have studs that would make this semi state so tough. Crown Point just runs away with it now, Penn is a very distant second...dare I say that EC is equivalent to Fort Wayne.
  18. Not one specific draw but one of my wildcat brethren always had a tough go at state. Josh Pierre 3X qualifier 2011-Kyle Ayersman 2012-Kyle Ayersman 2014-Cody Lecount
  19. Mr. Faulkens has made it very clear that he hates that "w" word. Proposals have been made and some coaches have called it a qualifying round and Mr. Faulkens has been interested in that. Meaning if you lose in the ticket round you would grab the third or fourth ticket to state if you were to win in the qualifying round. The most important thing that the IHSAA cares about is crowing a single champion.
  20. Boy has Merriville/East Chicago fallen off. 10 years ago East Chicago was the best, looks as if da region isnt what it used to be. #Sad #BringBackTheTights
  21. Rumor has it that the Tights are coming back out this weekend. That is good enough for a 2-0 advantage to start the match.
  22. Lol this guy was saying "darling 2003 Wildcats" and he is just as big of a homer as I am. Snyder better have your boys ready, you know Schaefer will have his boys ready to scrap. I think Wildcats beat up Bulldogs, but what do I know. #BringBackTheTights
  23. Now now we don't need poster fights. But if @blueandgold and @TeamGarcia wants to come say hi I will be up in box 123 at Conseco. See you guys there, much love. #BringBackTheTights P.S. those Perry teams were dirty!!
  24. Thank you for the laugh this morning. The MD team from 2003 would wreck the Cathedral team from 3 years ago. EMD in the finals 4 for 4, Cathedral in the finals 1 for 4. EMD 10 qualifiers, 7 in the semis. Throw in the Cathedral in the 80's, fine, but please do not stretch it THAT far.
  25. Another man lost his battle much too soon with this viscous disease. Coach Balash was an amazing man and a fiery coach in the corner. Thoughts and prayers go out to Coach Balash, his family, and the Hobart community. 50 years in the business is truly amazing.
