Could they maintain the lower weight of course but it takes alot of discipline to do that. Most high school kids don't have that so they will balloon back to there natural weight right after weigh ins.

We travle all over the country for my son to wrestle. If he didn't cut weight he would be undersized for his weight class. Most kids are cutting 10 to 15 lbs to make weight. With that being said when you have to cut muscle to make weight you are cutting to much. There is definitely a fine line and a healthy way to cut. The parents should monitor their wrestlers cut. My son is hoping for the allowance but with fingers crossed, he makes it to semi state he's going to have to cut that additional weight. If the Wrestler is dedicated enough weight shouldn't be the biggest battle.

Well said! Even though wrestling is a very emotional sport, win and lose with dignity and respect is something that will go a long way in the adult world. Colleges also look at their behavior on and off the mat too.

With LC and CP pushing all 14 through, I was wondering how all the weight class are going to shake out. With 2 to 3 state ranked kids in each class the CP regional will be exciting to watch! Any predictions or upsets?
