Friday night at Maconaquah was filled with some great action and a lot of young ladies putting themselves on the line, but I wanted to share with all of you a photo I took that really hit me.

Heritage High School hasn't (according to IndianaMat results) won a dual meet in the last four years and they are 0-47 in that time. But every time I see coaches Lockett and Martin, I am impressed at the way they run their program. They are full of energy and passion for their kids. I have seen it at home dual meets, at the ACAC duals and I saw it on Friday night.

Heritage had one girl wrestling. One girl. Yet the entire team (almost, I think) and both coaches were in attendance and coaching their hearts out and laughing with their kids. This made a huge impression on me and I will be rooting for the Patriots the rest of the year.
The whole team spent six hours in a gym to watch Amber Hoy wrestle four matches.

Kudos to the Heritage team and to both coaches for the role they are playing in their program and congrats to Amber Hoy on her placement Friday night.

Wonderful character as well. Some of the friendliest kids you’ll ever talk to, but absolute terrors on the mat.

Why I like how The Berne Witness shows all 4 mats of wrestling. It would be cool if they could use the 2 channels to broadcast 2 mats on each channel while showing all 4 on each channel. However, that is not feasible at this time. They do an excellent job covering sports for our community.

Not sure why throwing the wrestling info into a story about a person doing something dumb is relevant in this case.  Not saying the story isn’t worth reporting, but I don’t see why it’s work in thewrestling info is relevant (or if did any college sport).   Seems we should be seeing a lot more national stories about dumb former college athletes, cause I’m sure he’s not the only one making some dumb choices.  Since this isn’t related to the sport and he’s not know nationally as a notable representstive of that sport it seem like poor choice to include it in the article.

For anyone actually thinking McCammon has a shot at beating Fiechter at 138 you obviously have not watched both of them wrestle. Fiechter will easily win this match
