  1. Congratulations on being a very classless spokesperson for a very proud wrestling school. It pains me to think there are adults in this world with such disdain for other kids from the same community. We know Mater Dei is a great program. I celebrate their program as much as I do all the other SIAC schools. Good grief man people compliment and praise your schools program and kids and you still insult them. Merry Christmas, Indy, Perhaps Santa will bring you some humility.
  2. I remember when MD was down some people were questioning their program and their coach. That was less than 12 months ago. When programs have down years its easy to forget the years they were good. Reitz had 2 champs this weekend. 113 and 152. I'm sure they would have loved to won more but top to bottom every kid from every program in that gym wrestled hard. I appreciate that from kids of today's age of Xbox and iPhone. Memorial is definitely the Castle Sectional favorite but there are going to be some very good individual matches.
  3. Easy does it folks. Blackwell dominates many wrestlers. He dominated and pinned Mater Deis 132 as well but that doesn't mean either of those kids are flat out bad. Both the 132 kids from MD and RH are very good wrestlers with one loss to their resume. And both lost to the same opponent. Blackwell is a tough matchup for 99% of the people he wrestles regardless of what state he wrestles in. Union County is a very respectable program and they produce some great wrestlers every year.
  4. Reitz has some holes but give those kids and the other kids in the gym some credit. Memorial looks like the team to beat from top to bottom in the Castle Sectional. Mater Dei is the crown jewel of wrestling right now other than a stacked PM. The 132 final wasn't 18-4 I think it was 16-6 but Blackwell did cut him every time but one if I remember right. The 3rd period was where it really came apart for the Reitz kid. I think there were 2 takedowns on desperation shots that were cut and then the final one before the time ran out. The first 1 1/2 periods were way more competitive. Blackwell is no slouch though and he proved it last year by beating Cash pretty handedly as well. He is tough as nails like the entire Ervin family. Union County has a great tradition. For Mater Dei to dismantle them the way they did earlier this week just shows what kind of team that west side school is building.
  5. Anyone have any updates so far?
  6. What time does this start and what teams are going? Any must see matches?
  7. Memorial has 3 solid kids that can make a tournament run, Central has 2, Reitz has 2, Harrison 1, North 1 or 2 and MD has 8-10.
  8. What's the record for most champions from one school in a season and is Mater Dei poised to challenge that record?
  9. I talked to Ferguson at a football game a few months ago and he told me he knows he blew it last year and because it was a big match he over thought things and it won't happen again. After watching him at the indianamat open and having his dad (a pretty darn good wrestler himself) as well as a few pretty good partners in the room I see him definitely winning that match up. I just hope its in the semi state finals this year.
  10. Lee beats Blackwell and Jourdan does his job and keeps it close against Ervin. Nobody gets bumped in this lineup. Lee and Blackwell will be very close. Either can win but Lee in front of his home crowd pulls it out.
  11. He left Reitz a few weeks before season. He is wrestling at Gibson Southern and apparently lost his wrestle off match against his Gibson Southern teammate for 138lbs. Not sure if he bumped up or cut down.
  12. Is Schitter from Jasper going 132? If he is 132 and Davis from Reitz is 132 those two just made 132 semistate in Evansville the most stacked weight possible. That weight is borderline insane.
  13. Todrank is 138 lbs from what he told everyone a few weeks ago. He said he didnt want to and couldn't physically go 132. He should match up with Ervin. Even if he could have went 132 Blackwell is far superior in every position. After watching Blackwell handle Tommy Cash last year there is no way Todrank could make that match interesting. He is a good kid but just not on that level.
  14. We get an Egli vs Konrath match right out of the gate?
  15. Tyler Ferguson looks great this year. He has solid partners too.
  16. Gibson Southern has their line up ready from what I hear at the grocery store sports guru in Haubstadt. She knows every sport from tennis to volleyball. She knows my son wrestles and asked if he made varsity this year. She didn't know all the results but knew of a few but I don't know their names. Unless she was talking about a different Gibson Southern in another state?
  17. Does Mater Dei have their line up together? If so does anyone have info on who is going where? I heard Gibson Southern is set as is Central. Anyone have line up information?
  18. Not a lot of racket on these rankings is there? Is everyone waiting for an update or something?
  19. Seems like Micic is the favorite and rightly so, however, if he goes 120 and thinks he is going to walk over Lahue he might be disappointed. Lahue has a habit of beating (sometimes handedly) top class kids. And at 126 against Lee? If you have ever watched Nick Lee wrestle you would bite your tongue before picking anyone over him. Its nice to have people put their words in text and make picks for who they think will win but at 120 and 126 its no lock. I think it speaks volumes for Indiana wrestling to have a kid as great as Micic have to worry a little about his home state title.
  20. It appears there will be a lot of matches in the consolation rounds that will decide the team championship. From looking over the picks for individual winners those guys look pretty solid to win. Its going to be the tough wrestlers going for 3 & 4 place that are going to tip the scales.
  21. Its a great publication that gives the kids recognition for their passion. Its well worth $15. Also, its not a ransom its just an option to see who is ranked where to start the year. I'm sure they will release the rankings later as they have in years past.
  22. I was told that Todrank doesn't go to Reitz anymore. He transfered to Gibson Southern. I was told that at the football game by one of the wrestlers. Must have some merit coming from his teammate. Or I guess former teammate.
  23. Having seen Nick Lee wrestle he is definitely worthy of being mentioned for a title. He is significantly better as a freshman than all the recent highly touted freshmen. The thing I notice is that yet again the 113-132 weights are stacked to the gills with wrestlers that can put a late season run together and win a title. Any of the top 2 or 3 from every weight in those weights can pull off a title.
  24. Anyone have some updates on kids weights based on preseason tournaments?
  25. My mistake. I meant to say that Ferguson, Kelly, Lee and Kemper are clear cut favorites to win it but I'm not going to say hand the rest over to Mater Dei. I think they will walk away with the SIAC trophy as a team without trouble and will have more in the finals than any other team. Has anyone heard what weight Schweitzer and Johnson will try to make the team at. They are in the heart of the meat grinder for sure.
