  1. Heard thru the grapevine that one of the local boys wrestled 126 and is now weighing 162
  2. If they went to or school they'd be put on Athletic probation by our AD. Two occurances of any kind and they'd be done with ALL sports for the rest of the school year.
  3. I also emailed him about this spot at around noon. I haven't heard back from him yet.
  4. We as a family do both local and out of state. We do it because we feel we get the most bang for our buck. It's the best of both worlds and if u look at who's winning in the area, they travel. I agree with the comment that some of it is the kids in general, not a single one of my Sons friends will give up 3 to 4 days a week for wrestling practice or a Sat or Sun. My kid would do all of the above and Sat and Sun both. This next comment is meant on a positive note. I am not criticizing. Maybe the organizers of our local events could reach out and ask these successful tournaments what they are doing. Never hurts to ask. They must be doin something right. People can put down other states and tournaments all u want but... We talked to a club at the TOC in Columbus this past weekend that had 70 members. That's right 70. They had enough commited kids that they brought an entire bus load to the tournament. How many clubs can say that and how many tournaments can say that they had 2984 entries. They must be doin something right....
  5. I wish that we had boys interested in doing just that. I would gladly in a heart beat load them up and take them anyplace for anything wrestling related. Unfortunately we only have two other boys from our school doing anything in the off season. They go to practice one day a week and some tournaments. We've asked but they like were they go and what they do for training in the off season. We do wrestling stuff 4 days a week, locally and out of state at three different locations. We also do tournaments locally and out of state every weekend that we can find one. Just curious where Awould down South be
  6. I agree my Son although not mentioned in the post with names and placements took fifth place at this tournament and he worked his butt off and deserves every ounce of recognition. He didn't train any less hard for this event then any other that he competes in. Who cares what its called. Mat time with good quality completion is still mat time no matter how u look at it.....
  7. Our Son luvs this tournament and asked to attended again this year. There were 48 kids in his bracket. Some of the best competition we see all year. We go any place we need to to get our Son quality competition and will continue to do so. I agree with the early post its all about his goals and how I as a parent help get him to were he wants to be. We do one night a week of local training, but we also train out of state an hour drive one way one night a week and a 1/2 hour one way two other nights a week for the same reason. WE THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX :-)
  8. We asked our coach about changing our sons weight that he was registered at, as he is in a growth spurt and will not make the weight he was registered at. His coach saidthat when we got there if he didn't make the weight he was registered at his weight class would be adjusted to the weight class he weighs in at on S morning is this correct?
  9. Ditto on that. We were there last year and it ran smooth then too. Will the results be posted???
  10. Also Battle of the Bridge, at St Ignace, MI
  11. TOC is awesome my sons loves it 40+ mats. Our hotel room has been booked for over a month.
  12. Have seen a post for quickiest pins. Does anyone have any input/information on the most pins in a season? Such as how many matches and how many were pins etc.
  13. I truly hope that this works out for u and ur son. My son has had something come up missing/stolen 2 out of the 4 years that we have wrestled. ( a $135.00 winter coat he had to ride the bus home with no coat on one of the coldest days that winter & hed only worn it twice and headgear and a t-shirt another year. Luckily we were done wrestling for the day) have never gotten any of it back and when I contacted the school to see if anyone had turned the item in to lost and found I couldn't even get a return phone call from the school in question. I think that this terrible, and I as a parent would notice if my child had something that didn't belong to him, and it would be returned. Lesson learned it may be inconvient but now all my sons items stay in the stands with me so I can keep track of them and he can focus on wrestling and not have to worry about his prized possesions coming up missing. This has worked so far, haven't had anything stolen or come up missing in 2 years. Again sorry to hear of this happening. I truly feel for u and ur son.
  14. I could but I was looking to see more how the preseason rankings from 1 - 8 would compare to now if u were predicting 1 - 8 at the Ft Wayne Semi State. I am new to all of this and do not have as much feed back or knowledge of the kids that I haven't seen wrestle to place anyone except the kids in our conference that made it thru.
  15. Yes u do. Apparently some manners should be added to the top of it
  16. How about an update to this now that regionals r over? Some of the kids listed didn't make it thru to semi state and there r some kids that weren't listed in initial preseason post that r now going to semi state.
  17. Have heard alot about the Fremont kids this season. Willms is a junior so we know info the. Does anyone know much about their 120lb? He's just a freshman?
