  1. The let a swim team travel to Washington. But they wont let a wrestling team travel to Ohio (Ironman). Maybe this swim team opened up a can of worms. I see an opportunity.
  2. I think I know this. In the North White example, they came out of the Logansport regional that got a quota of 3 SS qualifiers. So if these wrestlers got 4th, then they havent earned their semi-state points yet. If they win first round, they earn Semi-state points and also qualifying for 2nd round SS points.
  3. The guys sitting out probably are great refs. But sometimes there's a club mentality where the same guys get selected to the big events or get the best ratings based on reputation. Ive seen some high ranked refs make some mistakes. I think this opens the glass ceiling a little bit.
  4. Only the underclassmen can score points in 1A at semi-state and state.
  5. I think 10 would be a reach. So who would your ten wrestelers be?
  6. The referee had a good look to see if the kid was in spladle was pinned. He was there at least 10 seconds and position didn't change. Looked to me his shoulders were up against Pruitt's side. Didnt look like a pin. I think it was good reffing and we did most of the day. Pruitt was square on the mat for a good while before the ref noticed. The funny thing was the expression on Owens face when the ref raised his hand. He had no clue he won.
  7. At 195, Kidwell looked tough last week as that heel pick was slick. Collins didnt have an answer. I would favor him over Brown. Dont see Rogers getting past Elliott at 220. I think the Meyer -Rogers score was 8-3, at least thats what Track says. 126 does looks fun, but if Ragen wrestles like he did last week, I see similar results as sectional. 152- Armuth is dialed in and has been working his tail off. Hes going to make sure a false start wont cost him the #1 seed at semi-state this year. I see Strawsma-Carden at 132. This should be one of the more anticpated matches. Wright vs Garpow will a good match. But Wright should tough it out.
  8. I appreciate that the J&C got some unexpected wrestling coverage in the paper. But they are wrong on that fact about 3 getting out. . Nothing has changed and 4 get out of Merrillvillle just like every other semi-state.
  9. We cant go into the Logansport regional without any predictions or at least comments from Devil Dog. Where is the Dog at?
  10. Thats the point, most of the weight classes arent close.
  11. Nice picks let's talk on Saturday and see how many you got right. Lol I think somebody is sandbagging.
  12. I have no trouble with gauging somebody to the face. But gouging, now thats totally illegal.
  13. Dude, Im ok with you ripping this regional. But when you get on here and like you know it all, why don't you get your facts straight. The Logansport regional put 7 through to state. Thats an understatement by 29%. Yes the reqional isn't as good as the ones up north, but it also made up of smaller schools. When you look at the number of qualifiers per student population, it probably does as well or better than the other regionals.
  14. 6 wrestlers out of this group to statewould be a disapointment. I say 10-12 get to state.
  15. Nothing against West Lafayette but that's like two years in a row the Journal and Courier has an article right before sectionals about "You better watch out for West Lafayette at sectionals".
  16. Shrock beat Pullins last week 5-2 at conference, so ill give him the favorite. But Pullins who is finally healthy enough to put some momentum together will learn from that match and hes a senior thats hungry. Should be worth watching. Also I'm calling Carden a tossup to slight favorite at 132 against Strawsma. You dont have an undefeated record for nothing at this time of year.
  17. Probably to be fair. Twin Lakes sectional would be favored at 120 (White), 145 (Shrock) and Fritz a strong favorite at 160. Jeff sectional will dominate but I dont know about 43-13.
  18. So whats the odds of a Benton Central asst coach getting a team point?
  19. If a coach has 5 wrestlers on a team or less, the last thing the coach is worried about the team title. Keep it real.
  20. Maligned explained this yesterday. Only 1 of the four 1st round losers in regional will get SS qualifier points. Their is tie breaking criteria, which the first criteria is highest sectional place. Say of the four 1st rd losers, one placed 2nd at sectional and the other 3 placed 3rd and 4th. The wrestler who got 2nd would get the 1st round SS points.
  21. Thats awsome. Is this match on the Big 10 network?
  22. Reese Humphrey is at 65KG and has a Russian 1st round.
  23. Munson lost to the 3 seed Gary from West side, so he probably would have been 4 seed at182.
  24. So is it possible that the quotas could change once final genius rating comes out, or are these locked in and youre not expecting to see much of a statistical change. So Im trying to picture the regional with a quota of 6. So 4 kids will lose first round, but two of these kids will get semi-state points based on the tie breaker criteria?
