  2. You're invited to join the College Forum for such discussion. There is an annual thread for posting results of all IN kids wrestling at all levels. Sure the DI guys get the most attention, but there has been plenty of results and articles posted and discussion of guys wrestling in DII, DIII and NAIA. It's not as busy as the HS Forum, but all are welcome and contributions/results are encouraged as well.
  3. I don't think you can exclude him for that. He was a DII wrestler that qualified (different from today) and placed in the DI Tournament after his final DII Tourney, which he won. Don't count the DI 5th Place finish and he still had two DII Titles, which is a higher level than NAIA. Grammar is the right call, IMO
  4. I agree, I thought it was awesome with a ton of detail, not only on his matches with Nick, but all of his OTT matches and his relationship with Yianni and how difficult that match was.
  5. That's what a lot of PSU fans thought this year. Now Van Ness enters the mix and may be well suited for 149. Anything is possible, but pretty sure Nick Lee wrestles whatever weight he wants to. Regardless, that has no bearing on this year's lineup. Nick Lee is the 141 National Champ. He stays at 141. If you want to bump other people weights go for it. Maybe if there were a stronger 149, the discussion might be different. But in my mind there isn't a definitive guy at a weight in DI (Rooks @149 probably is), then you go to DII or DIII.
  6. Been listening to a few podcasts lately and a few comments about Nick Lee from Vincenzo Joseph and Jordan Oliver stood out to me. Both talked about how tough it was to wrestle Nick and that he is much stronger than you think he is. Oliver said despite teching him at the US Open, he came away impressed and adjusted how he wrestled him this year at the OTT. He referenced how Nick shut down most of his attacks until he was fortunate enough to score on a double and get a leg lace. At the OTT, he abandoned his single leg (his best move) and focused on doubles and keeping Nick from tying him up. His analysis of their match and JO's other matches was excellent. Cenzo echoed the reference about Nick's strength and how his pace and strength combined can tire out an opponent. Here is a video from You Tube highlighting Nick's scoring during the OTT. He had seven 4 point moves in the tournament. If you missed his matches against Zain and Yianni, here is a little taste. Taking Zain to his back to make it 8-4 was just nasty! I know I heard/saw at least 2 people comment that if there could be an OWW who finished 3rd, Nick should win it hands down Nick Lee OTT Highlights
  7. I think Nick would like to have that one back. You're right Oliver is very physical and does a lot of shoving to keep his opponent from getting to ties. After seeing how physical the match was between Nick and Zain and how he was able to avoid/fend off moves from Yianni that typically score, I think Nick can compete. It may just take an adjustment. Even so, JO is a tough foe and until Nick does break though will be the favorite every time they meet. Nick definitely went through the grinder the past two days. He finished with a healthy shiner on his left eye. His match with Zain was brutal as the pace in just the hand fighting was about as strong as I've seen. In his post-Yianni match interview, he was asked about the match with Zain, being that they are training partners. He basically said Zain is like a brother to him and there was no pleasure in that match.

  9. Hopefully he is leaving with a Michigan degree!
  10. Indiana's other Men's FS representative, Mason Parris also finished 3rd. Mason lost to Penn State's Daniel Kerkvliet on criteria in the Quarters, then rattled off wins over Tanner Hall, Dom Bradley and Tony Nelson to finish 3rd. Gable Steveson and Nick Gwiazdowski will meet in the final tonight.
  11. Does anyone know what mat the Yianni Match was on? I want to go back and watch it
  12. Well he lost to Oliver 8-3, Then had excellent showing nonetheless. Nick beat McKee in the 1st round then beat Nashon Garrett (12-2), Retherford (10-4) and Yianni D (16-8) back-to-back-to-back to finish 3rd. Not a bad weekend!
  13. Snyder has a bye and will face Kollin Moore in best 2 of 3 at 97kg. Same for Burroughs and Dake at 74kg.
  14. I do that, but especially when on a phone, it's a pain in the ass to always be changing mats. If they would keep each style on a mat it would be much easier for those that just want to follow FS, for example. Bouncing from TW to Peacock and from mat to mat is a pain

  16. The way they do the mat assignments is nuts. Bouncing between the different styles makes it hard to watch one seamlessly. Hate it! That said, does anyone know who is calling the matches on Mat 4 currently (Sat)? His voice is familiar but I can't place it?
  17. Nick Lee faces Nashon Garrett and if he wins Zain Retherford, who lost to Joey McKenna yesterday. Crazy that both Zain and Yianni lost in the semis
  18. Snyder has a bye and will face Kollin Moore in best 2 of 3 at 97kg. Same for Burroughs and Dake at 74kg.
  19. Sweet Really excited. There should be some awesome wrestling the next 2 days!
  20. Do either of you know if Peacock streams can be accessed later or are they live only? I got my free trial, but will be hit and miss both days. Would love to be able to catch up on what I miss.
  21. Has anyone seen the schedule for Friday and what styles will wrestle win? Any kind of schedule? Also, I love Nick Lee's path.... McKee Oliver Yianni Retherford x2 Qualify weight in Bulgaria Piece of cake!
  22. Makes 3rd most in All-Americans sound very nice!
  23. National Qualifiers by state of originPA 50IL 28OH 27CA 24AA's by state of origin (points scored in parentheses)PA 17 (236)IL 7 (100.5)IN 5 (72) Note sure exactly where IN was on the list of qualifiers (8th, 9th, 10th?), but finishing in the top 3 with All-Americans is pretty impressive
  24. Not Indiana related, but I thought this was interesting... Nice work by these young men. Largest Seed to Finish differences
