  1. This is going to be one hell of an event and since I don't have a child of my own in the race, heres my best guess on a few weights, which is basically as worthless as my filling out the March Madness Brackets every year that I never win...but Ill get it started with the first few weights...here you go...best of luck to all... 75: Some solid hard working kids in this bracket for sure... I see the top half being Ray Rioux and Drake Campbell I see the bottom half being Trey Lane and Brayden Littell Vogt is tough kid but this bottom half is also very tough... Have to mention Alex Cotty in the mix here as well, has all the skills but may be a little undersized. 80: This bracket alone is worth the price of admission... I see the top half being Walendzak and Mosconi I see the bottom half being Logan Bailey and Alec Viduya Have to mention Samuel Fair in the mix as well. 85: This one may not have the fireworks of 75-80 but its gonna be interesting I have Demi Allen and Asa Garcia at the top half Camden Chatterton is also a solid wrestler I think the favorite on bottom is Cayden Rooks Isaac Smith may be someone to keep an eye on 90: Let the fireworks begin again in this weight class... At the top you have Schoenegge, Frieji, and Slivka... At the bottom you have Graham Calhoun and Ethan Mason and Brayden Curtis WOW 95: The hits just keep on coming At the top of this one you have Mason Miranda and Graham Rooks At the bottom you have Willman Also have to mention Egli, Ruble, Warren, and South as fun to watch... 102: More fun here so get yo popcorn ready... My best guess here at the favorites are Tylor Triana, Peyton Pruitt, Anthony Mosconi, Tyler Wagner, and Austin Moore Someone else can take it from here...best of luck to all, looking forward to watching them all...
  2. Congrats to all three Indiana elementary teams who finished in the top 8 at the Mason Ohio Super Duals this weekend. 1. North Akron 2. Quest 3. Indy Cathedral (Fighting Irish) 4. Center Grove Elite 5. Marysville 6. Avon 7. Dehart 8. Elder
  3. The deadline is fast approaching. We have confirmation and/or have sent information and are awaiting confirmation from: Center Grove A, Center Grove B, Shanendoah, Indiana Creek, Carmel, Franklin Central A& B, Warren, Martinsville, Southport, Floyd, Delta, Greenwood
  4. Center Grove is hosting an elementary dual event on Saturday, December 15, 2012. The flyer and entry form may be reviewed on the ISWA website. If participation allows, we will separate beginner teams from advanced, more experienced teams. Red Meet is for ?A Teams?, ?Advanced?, ?Varsity?, ?Experienced? Teams White Meet is for ?B teams?, ?Developmental Squad?, ?Beginners?, ?JV? Teams This format will allow wrestlers and teams of similar skill level to get the most from their day. Please notify the contact person listed below to confirm your team(s) participation and pool designation (Red: Advanced (or) White: Developmental) by December 3, 2012. 5. My question or post was clearly misunderstood. So, this will be my last post as well and hopefully clarify the thought a little... It was not intended to bash anyone...any team, or organization. The ISWA and Matt have done a good job, I know they constantly meet and tweak things, and are open to ideas, the number of teams has certainly grown, and the events are great. We routinely support duals events at Perry, Franklin, Bloomington South, Columbus East, etc. and they are all great events, run by great people. We like the system so much so much we added one this year at CG. That is another opportunity to wrestle and more growth of the sport. The ISWA and Matt, Bryan Bailey, Brandi Cash, Ryan Parrish (some I know better than others) all take teams to numerous national events, which obviously exposes Indiana youth wrestlers to greater competition, and grows Indiana wrestling. My own son has actually been on several of those teams and had great experiences....The list above are all great things...great for Indiana great for the sport. Anyone who knows me at all knows I am about as laid back as anyone out there, but I do say what I think.... and the only thing I said was a "shame" is the kids who live in small towns and communities around that do not have teams or youth wrestling programs at their schools do not have an avenue to participate on some team at state. That is why I asked about alternates...thinking, outside the box, that maybe even if you can only have 2 -3-4 kids in your lineup at any given time maybe they can be alternates and work in...Thats all, so, I dont want that one comment/question turned into that I think the entire system sucks...I think its a damn good product...best of luck to all...
  6. The rule is pretty cut and dry...and not having a few kids from Southport, Mooresville, or Monrovia certainly wont keep larger youth programs or schools like Avon, Columbus East, CG, Perry, Ben Davis, from putting together a team or even multiple teams. That being said, we (large programs) are all very lucky...we have large numbers...I dont know (or claim to know) what the correct answer is, and from our prior conversations I know the ISWA dicusses all these things in great detail before making any decisions, i.e., no all-star teams., etc...but I do know some kids will not get to wrestle in, or be part of a team in a pretty good ISWA event because maybe their community school doesnt have a program at all, or they just dont have the numbers to have a team like the larger schools do. There are lots of talented young wrestlers in Indiana living in small towns and communities with no programs. Excluding those young wrestlers who could be on a team somewhere is a shame...
  7. Matt, Thanks for posting this early so we can work out all the details within our individual clubs...for clarification on the wildcards...the spots allowed 2, 3, 4, etc...are based on school class, pretty clear on that. Question: Does this include active club members? For example...we have a few club members, some you know, who have always come to CG from Southport (who doesnt have a duals team), or Mooresville (who doesnt have a team) or Greenwood (who doesnt have a team) ..., now, we can fill a team without them, but if I am interpreting the rule correctly, these active club members would no longer be allowed on our team or would count as wildcard spots? 2nd Question: Can you have 2 total "wildcards" on your team roster....or is it 2 wildcards in your lineup for that particular dual...?
  8. Indiana represented well! Brayden Littell of Center Grove and Contenders is also an ASICS/Folkstyle National Champion at Int. 65 after just over a year of wrestling! Way to go Bray!
  9. Tough kids, great experience, thanks for organizing....appreciate it!
  10. I get it, maybe I just used a bad analogy... "You don't have that problem with this format because the top 6 wrestlers from each district advance to Regionals and the top 4 from Regionals advance to State." There are some scarce weight classes, so, forget skill, let me use a different example...we may have 6-8 PW 75 lbs in the entire state...5 may be from the same district...we had one kid get 3 matches at state and won it all...basically an odd age and weight combination...the above, 6 advancing at this stage, and 4 advancing at this stage may work in huge popular age and weights....but what do you do about the scarce age and weights... Just food for thought...
  11. There is one pretty big problem doing it that way...meaning the district, local, sectional, and regional qualifying route...some areas may several outstanding wrestlers in a particular age or weight...the end result is you do not have the best wrestlers standing on the podium at state because you may have had the 2nd or 3rd best wrestler in the entire state eliminated at the local/district, sectional, or regional, while someone else living in an area with very little competition at that particular weight or age gets a walk in the park to go to state and compete. I like the way the ISWA does Youth State...let em wrestle...
  12. Weigh them in, every dual, every event, every time....simple solution...no emails, no fax in...step on the scale in front of all your competition...end of story What makes no sense is the way it is done now...you do a sattellite weigh in on a Thursday...most of us do...then what, challenge a weight on Sunday, three days later....I have never seen this happen, but I heard today at a local event that happened someplace...how do you really challenge a weigh in from 3 days before...the challenge was pointless because even 3 days later the kids weight was perfect...a big waste of time...but really...weigh em in...that makes it easy for everyone...if you want to give an allowance fine, but step on a scale...
  13. Congrats to Columbus East and Avon, two great teams with great kids...and thanks to the the ISWA, it was a very well run event...I must send congrats to the fans and coaches as well, especially for CE and Avon, the sportsmanship was second to none...at some point every coach from both teams and many parents congratulated us as well (CG)...says a lot for Indiana Wrestling....its growing on me...a great wrestling state.
  14. Awesome name Coach neal....classic... 8)
  15. My first post on the board...seems this is a growing concern for everyone...all I can say is when I spoke with Mr. Brewer, not to call him out, sorry Matt, it seemed to me like the ISWA is trying to consider all the above issues. **No, I do not live in Avon, and my kid doesn't wrestle for Avon**, and I still think they are doing what they can to keep it as fair as possible...My 2 cents are if there are no rules about school districts or allowances for the kids who may not live in the school district, 4 per team, like it or not, it is an all star event...If you want an all star event, throw out the school districts and allowances...If you want a community based event, which is what the book says...there has to be some guidelines...just from what Mr. Brewer told me, they spend a lot of time on this...trying to keep it fair...I believe they are working out these very issues...but you cant just throw the rules out the window...
