  1. Congrats to ALL Indiana Teams great showing by all. As a parent of a member of Perry Silver ( underclass or JV team) it was great to see the other Indiana pulling for our Blue team in the Championship round hearing Yorktown chanting INDIANA....INDIANA as the dual was going on and Penn wrestling on the adjoining mat at the same time with some of their wrestlers watching from time to time. All Indiana teams represented our State well. Great job by all the wrestlers, managers, and coaching staffs that had to go deep for Mondays matches. Thank you to all involved wrestlers, managers, coaches and volunteer coaches that stepped up on Monday.
  2. First off the person making these comments is an 8th grader or a a Freshman looking to repeat the 9th grade, put that in perspective as kids speak or in this case type without thinking. To say Perry Meridian has no class is ignorant, the coaches at Perry are some of the most respected in the state and have always helped coach any kid who needed help regardless of school at ISWA events. This is my sons first year at Perry and I am thankful that he has always had a great coach behind him, even at the elementary age he wrestled for another club and when no coaches were around the Perry coaches have stepped in to coach him. Everyone hates a winner that's why people complain about PM,Cathedral,Roncoli,Mater D,Red Cobra,Cia, Contenders, and all other successful clubs and schools. With this being said cant we all get along without bashing each other and try to further the sport of wrestling in Indiana.
  3. It sounds like the IHSAA and the teams going to DD has worked this out. If you don't want your kid or kids going great don't let them! Why all the crying foul, foul if it does not concern you personally why keep beating a dead horse? I think some people just like to hear themselves type. Good luck to all the teams that are going to DD while following IHSAA rules. Those that are complaining let it go, if the teams do not have it worked out with the IHSAA they will have to deal with the repercussions not you, but IO am sure they are thankful for your concern. I know, I know everybody is entitled to their opinion but over and over and over come on lets move on. ;D ;D ;D
  4. Probably not, that's Middle School State and the coaches will be there as Perry has a good number of kids going.
  5. First I support the clubs out there teaching our young wrestlers, but if you live where there are no clubs for the school that your child goes to (IPS or Charter) are you saying that they cant participate? My son started with a club that turned into an academy because the AD at that school only wanted kids from that district in the club the coach is a great coach and started an academy and accepted all kids. This was not money driven but the love of the sport and not wanting any kid left out, and yes wrestlers parents drove from all over the state as well as out of state for the training provided. So I agree that there should be two divisions club and academy, I would love to see some of the match ups between CIA, State Street, Red Cobra, Humphrey, Hoosier Elite, and Contenders and any other that I have missed since most of the top wrestlers attend or have attended at least one of these academy's. Lets support all the coaches and clubs/academy's and their wrestlers have the club event one weekend and the academy the following so that the wrestlers that do both can wrestle in both. Just a thought ???
  6. I am glad to that a Charter School is stepping up with more athletics. I tried for years to get the Charter School that my son attended to start wrestling and even had a great coach interested in talking to them but it fell on deaf ears. I know that a lot of kids have left the Charter Schools due to lack of sports. Thank you for stepping up! ;D ;D
  7. Try and get with a local restaurant that will sell you pizzas and or sandwiches at a discount for bulk and have them deliver every 1/2 hour starting at 10 or 11 am Arbys has always been helpful as well as Papa Johns and Pizza Hut. If you have a local place that would help also for a better discount in exchange for advertising , also pass out couypons for who ever use in appreciation of their support. Popcorn always usually sells well walking tacos, try to find a local bakery to donate donuts and pastries so your club can make more money. Just a few thoughts.
  8. Sounds great , I know Iowa always sends 3 teams as well usually the champion in each weight class on 1 team, runner up on team 2, and a younger group 3rd and 4th grades for the third team. Iowa usually is one of the most competitive teams down there. I thought the qualifier was also used to raise money for the team(s) that we sent those years using the qualifier. However it works out best of luck to all involved and thanks for helping Indiana wrestling grow. ;D
  9. This is great news that the ISWA is doing this. I see you are requesting interested wrestlers info but there used to be a qualifier, did they do away with that?
  10. There are several centrally located venues(Warren Central, Ben Davis, U of I, Tech, Southport, Lawrence Central, and Perry Meridian) but one that I have not heard mention of is Hinkle Fieldhouse it was used for Indy Nationals one year and was great. Also as mentioned earlier Mark Durham would probably have insight on other venues around Indy in researching venues for Indy Nats.
