  1. Why would I have to be offended to ask how you determined which were the Indiana teams and how "most" of them behaved less than with class? I know there were no issues with our team, who is from Indiana. I'm just wondering about the rest of the Indiana teams, which I would assume were 2/3 of the total number of teams there. That makes it around 130 Indiana teams there. If "most" of them acted in a some negative way, it should be easy for you.
  2. Chad and Mark, A couple pieces of constructive criticism, all pertaining to the small gym: 1. The big screens in the small gym weren't very visible. You had to almost walk onto the mat to see the match number. 2. The mats in the small gym didn't appear to be numbered. Maybe I just missed this. 3. We knew that when our division got moved to the small gym that we'd be skipping match numbers. We were smart enough to figure that out. What we couldn't determine was which numbers were being skipped. This meant that we had no idea how long we would be waiting. 4. My son wrestled, then had about 10 matches to wait for his next match. All of a sudden, they were calling us back to the mat less than 5 minutes after his match. Is it protocol for kids to wrestle again so quick after a match? If it's not, could the website track the end of a wrestler's match and not allow his match to come up right away? 5. We only heard them calling for him because of someone knowing us. There was no loud speaker in that gym. I'm not sure if it's possible to link the gym speakers so that there is still a central voice coming across. 6. I think you're too tolerant of some of the "coaches" that were doing what they were doing. Other than that, there were no complaints from us or our teams we were with that I know of. (Ben Davis and Indy West) We appreciated that the wrestling for us was non-stop on our mat, even in the small gym. Oh, I'm not sure what the awards were for 6th place, but we neglected to come get it. Let me know how I can get this. 812fan, "I had the utmost respect for the Ill. teams, very decent coaches and wrestlers. You did your state proud! I'm ashamed of most of the Indiana teams." According to trackwrestling, there were 200+ teams in attendance yesterday, a good portion of these likely being Indiana teams. Can you tell us how you were able to determine which of those were Indiana teams and then describe your horrible experiences with them? You said "most" Indiana teams so you should easily be able to provide at least 100 examples.
  3. I had never seen Brooks wrestle until Saturday night. I didn't think anything about him getting out there that fast. I'm sure it's difficult to be hanging around there during all of the faceoff stuff when they only have business on the mind. He seemed very focused and anxious to get to the line. Even during the match, he seemed to sprint back to the line after whistles. Wrong? I'll let someone else decide that. I thought it was great.
  4. The arena could've opened up a few concession stands for those of us that like to sit up there. If there any open, I missed them.
  5. Sorry, I can't answer that but it was pretty funny to hear The Jack by ACDC considering what that song is about.
  6. They need to add scoreboards that are the size of billboards for each mat so that people are actually paying attention to the match numbers. I can't count how many times the table had to have the PA announce a name to report to a mat. Other than that, I thought it was a great tournament. I didn't have to deal with the smaller gym.
  7. Maybe they should allow competitors from Canada so they can call it "International". ;D
  8. "Who? Oh, Nick Ellis? I saw him on a message board, I better get ready." -- random wrestler next year Somehow, I don't think it will go down this way. A kid at Nick's level prepares for everyone's best already.
  9. I think they got 84, something like that. This was actually a combined effort with Lynhurst MS, the other MS in our district. We won only 4 matches. Even so, many of our guys really learn a lot in this dual. The Perry wrestlers and coaches did a great job, very classy group. It was good to see both high school coaches at this event as well.
  10. No individual results but lots of good matches.
  11. I'm almost certain that Indy West are kids only in their school district. They should be since there are wrestling clubs all around them in the school districts. I'm not 100% on that though.
  12. Your nominee is so much better than any others, I can't believe anyone else bothered to reply. :
  13. Here's probably some of the better youth teams. Most of them do very well at the middle school level as well. http://indianamat.com/messageboard/index.php/topic,19922.0.html
  14. Jordan Vaughan(sp?) from Franklin Township MS East. The kid is a beast.
  15. I think that is what the final scoreboard said, it was kind of hard to see. It seemed like the gap was bigger to be honest with you so I may not have read it correctly. Someone please confirm. I do not have individuals.

  20. The tournaments in general in this state have improved tremendously. My middle schooler is 13 now and much hated wrestling after doing it a couple years about 5-6 years ago. It wasn't the wrestling because he did very well. It was from sitting at these things all day with hours between matches at times. My 8-year-old just started wrestling. The tournaments we went to this year were pretty good and much better than they were 5 years ago. We didn't go to state this year but I've heard mostly good things about it. Bottom line though, people will always complain.
  21. I thought that 125er Stewart's first name was Big. ;D Good luck to all!
  22. Please call him by his real name. Most that know him call him Pee Wee Great story this kid is.
  23. Having an officer present at any event is usually just a deterrent. I was at a different tournament over the weekend and watched a mom holding a baby come onto the mat to yell at a teenage official. I pointed her out to who appeared to be the head official in that gym and he glanced over and moved on to whatever he was doing. An officer there would've been great. I think the attendance was a bit overwhelming. And to the teenage official, he kept his composure and continued to do a good job.
