  1. Ok so he was a runner-up as a junior, I'm positive he wrestled under the lights.
  2. His brother was a heck of a wrestler too, I know he was a runner-up for sure, may have placed another time or two.
  3. I was going to question Dillon being ranked that high as well. I think it's safe to say mat fiend's post lacked validity to say the least.
  4. Justin Mora was 50+ and 0 his junior year and had to wrestle Williams who medical dq'd the week before, so 1 and 2 wrestled Friday and #2 lost. Eric Keith lost on Friday night twice having been ranked 1 or 2 each year. Those are 2 I recall.
  5. That nut case was on the road at 5am and is dialed from the moment he arrives, not sure he'll see your post in time.
  6. No one in the last 15 finals I've been to has won a title with 10 losses. I believe EC Central's Hector Mendez has had the most that I can recall with about 5. So while some of your post is accurate, #1's and 2's go down from time to time, the 10 losses statement is a bit of an exaggeration.
  7. I'm not addressing the topic, I'm done, but wanted you to know that I was sincere when I wished your son well, and you can't make a debate, you engage in one, which I was not trying to do with you, just pointing out what's right is right and what's wrong is wrong.
  8. It's fine that others would do it differently from the poll you took, but you keep avoiding whether by the rule provided, the referee was in the wrong. I'm not asking your opinion, I'm asking that after reading the rule and interpreting, can we agree that the referee in question was well within his right to make the decision he did. All I'm saying is that the referee didn't deserve the criticism when he made the right call. You may not have agreed or liked it, but he was well within his right. I understand that not everything is black and white, and the grey world we live in provides referees some latitude, but in your son's case, the referee made the correct call, give the guy at least that much, if anyone is wrong it's you for blasting the guy for making the right call. I promise you, this is my last response to the post, as someone who is regularly questioned by decisions I make with people's children, I feel for the referees out there, especially when they are right!
  9. I'm not trying to debate you, but I am curious, after reading the rule that was provided, do you feel that this referee misinterpreted the rule and thus gave an inappropriate punishment as a result? I understand it's your son and it is unfortunate that he didn't get the opportunity to win that 4th title, but in your initial post you give the indication that you felt the referee was in the wrong, I just don't see it that way. Good luck to your son this post season, I hope he gets over that Friday night hump, he was right there last year, I mean this sincerely by the way, sometimes meaning gets lost in print.
  10. Bad referee? He used inappropriate language, hurt or not, he has to own what he said. It was clearly offensive enough for the referee to DQ him. I tried to stay off this one because I know not everyone will see my point of view, which is fine, but we talk about this being a gentleman's sport and how we need to show respect and shake hands and on and on, but when a referee makes a judgement call and DQ's a wrestler for using inappropriate language, we attack the person who has the authority. As the rule is written and interpreted, the referee was well within his right to make the call he did. Look, the excuse that he was "injured" was used, however, it seems more like he was "hurt" considering he was planning on wrestling the remainder of the event, so perhaps the use of such language could have been avoided and this referee would not have been put in the position to make such a call. Hopefully something is learned by the young man and he moves on to be a productive member of society.
  11. He is undefeated. In fact he and his brother have yet to taste defeat this year, so as of now, by your definition (undefeated), he is indeed unstoppable.
  12. I 100% agree with your analysis of the Hughes boys, however, as you learned during your dual with Lowell, it's easy to identify the predictable moves, but far more difficult to stop them.
  13. I know that there is a poll attached to this question, but I really think the decision is predicated on who's wrestling. I would say in most cases going down is the prudent choice because the odds are in favor of that bottom person scoring a point. There are times however, that I think taking bottom is suicide. Two kids off the top of my head that I feel wrestlers would be foolish to take bottom against are the Hughes Bros. Those two are so strong on top and turn people with relative ease that if I were coaching against them, I wouldn't choose down. I'm going off of memory, but I thought Drew's decision, whether his or his coach's to not take top on Wilson was a mistake and may have cost him the state title.
  14. I missed your post hyping him up following the Al Smith, where can I find that? I'm sure that's a great read.
  15. Right, because Crown Point is above all of that nonsense. Wait, where did the Fuquas, Tsirtsis, and Roach all come from?
  16. Gelen was very complimentary of Streck when I talked to him. Said Streck was a tough kid despite not getting a takedown. He's a humble kid, which is a reason I believe most people gravitate toward him. His mom has done a fantastic job of raising him.
  17. It was already stated, but I'll repeat, Miller needs to catch Robinson, not vise versa, I'm sure you recall who won that match-up last year. Perhaps your favorite high school 120 crush should worry about keeping up, he's after all taken a few losses.
  18. We've actually met a number of times and I respect the heck out of you, which is why in a previous post I asked what someone like myself would have to do in order to get you in the hall of fame, however, I thought your post implied a lack of organization on Mr. Brooks' part (my feelings) and there were also parts of your post that don't exactly jive with the way the situation was described to me, which is neither here nor there. We're good coach, he's a good guy who cares a lot about kids, much the way you do and I wouldn't want anyone hurting a good name, hope you understand.
  19. With all due respect coach, the former AD left Hanover Central in a lot better shape than when he got it. Your post seems to imply that he left things unfinished or not prepared, he's a personal friend of mine and I could tell you that your assertion couldn't be further from the truth. Also, he's the principal at Hebron, Mr. Jeff Brooks.
  20. By the way, winning a state title in Illinois says a lot about that particular wrestler. Illinois is a perennial powerhouse in the nation. Yates's raking is well deserved. I left thoroughly impressed with him.
  21. None taken, I didn't know if you realized he was from Illinois, most definately wasn't attacking you.
  22. Yates is from Illinois, big school state champ at 106, his spot has been cemented on top for a while.
  23. 130 pounds seems pretty big for him. I saw him last Saturday and he's not very tall. If I had to guess I'd say he's 5'2" or so and looked to be about 120 pounds, and pretty muscle bound for a little guy. I've never seen him wrestle, and am excited to see him this weekend.
