  1. Wait, when did I come on here and announce the team I root for to be so good that every team that showed up to the same tournament should be prepared to battle it out for second? And when my team lost, did I follow that up by providing an excuse that it wasn't a true dual format, and that my team would beat anyone in that type of event? Oh and when they get beat in a dual did I come up with more excuses like football causing lack of conditioning and too many jv wrestlers in the line-up? The answer to all of these questions is no, it wasn't me, but in fact it was you. Don't you get how foolish you continue to make yourself look with every post? Apparently not because you keep the lob balls coming. As I stated before, I like the ihsaa don't view wrestling as a true team sport, so I'm fine with rooting for a few individuals, besides, we won't win the team title because we always have 7 jv wrestlers in our line-up .
  2. Panther83 is one of my favorite posters. And Chargerdad, M109R had a bad day, his team lost, again, but without the full line-up, and then there's football you know, oh and the real kick in the boxer shorts, he wasted 6 bucks on Penn's jv. All in all a bad day, give him a break, the poor guy needs one.
  3. Great program and coach, just having some fun with my favorite poster wearing the black and gold shades.
  4. Oh I know someone that will provide plenty of excuses . I'll wait in anticipation of some good excuses from my old pal. I know he's out 6 bucks and is in a bad mood, so I hope he doesn't take this too seriously.
  5. I was more impressed with Guerra in a loss if that makes sense. Woods is and has been a great wrestler for the past 3 years now. I was all but ready to write his name on my prediction for the 220 title. I only got to see Guerra last year at Mishawaka and at state, I have to say, I think he has improved tremendously. These two will be fun to watch for the year. I'd like to see more from him on his feet to create some scoring because he didn't show a lot in that regard. Woods was more aggressive on his feet and looked like the guy I've seen for the last three years. Thanks for posting that by the way.
  6. You're kinda right about Escobedo and Macke. It was a MD at individual state and a regular decision at team state.
  7. If not for Mater Dei being so great in 2003, I think you could consider that Griffith team to be one of the best of all time as well. I'm not sure of the exact breakdown, but they too had multiple state champions and a number of place winners. 2010 Mishawaka and that Griffith team would have been a good battle if we are talking dream match-ups.
  8. I've heard this tune played before, but the last time it was Micic. I think we all remember how that played out. I would pick Lee to win in a match between the two, but provided some evidence as to why I believe this to be the case, I also qualified my prediction with, the fact that I wouldn't be on the match because Cash is a quality wrestler. Using the word "destroy" shows what type of a buffoon you are and is insulting to Tommy Cash. Also, there was a young man by the name of Drew Hughes in the 138 pound weight class last year that I find to be anything but weak and in fact someone I feel has a good chance to win a title this year. So Tommy won a state title and could potentially have another titlist in the field after this year, which further discounts your opinion of 138 being the weakest class. Good luck to both Cash and Lee this year.
  9. Were they both at 138 last year? And if so did they wrestle? Lawrence looked awesome on Saturday, scored a ton of points. Covaciu is obviously a step up in class, but two clashing styles, lots of offense and a tough defensive wrestler. Wish I could be there to see it.
  10. Typically I'd say Bautista, Poynter, and Torres all losing would be noteworthy, but they all lost to tough Illinois wrestlers. Of the three, I'd say Torres would avenge that loss today if they wrestled. He seemed to figure the Brother Rice kid out late, and nearly finished 2 TD's. The 106 pounder had a pretty easy time with our Indiana boys. First time seeing Bautista and I was impressed, despite the loss.
  11. Oh ok so you made a bold statement about your team and now your excuse is that you didn't know who was even participating? So do you typically make predictions and demeaning statements without knowing anything? Well lesson learned I guess. Might I recommend a fine red wine to wash down that crow? Sportsfan 1 m109 0.
  12. Wait a minute, I thought everyone else was wrestling for second place? Hit us with the excuses m109r. In all seriousness, some good wrestling, Torres loses to a tough soph from Brother Rice and the Brother Rice 132 pounder was a machine. Sopko had a nice win for his 4th title to join elite company. 152 went down to the wire, that will be interesting next time. 182 was entertaining as well, good loss for Kleimola. Was bummed that 106 and 120 were missing some studs, but was entertained, so I can't complain.
  13. Lawrence, christenson, Larson, sopko, Osborn
  14. Ohhh look at him getting clever, bringing up football. Our girls traveled over to beautiful Granger, Indiana and beat the Penn Kingswomen, perhaps he's mad about that. Or perhaps he's mad that LC has actually had individual state champions in wrestling, and Penn has to settle for runner ups. Nice try M109R, I like your motor. I'm definitely beyond high school, no need to stoop to this, but thanks for the offer. The pen is mightier than the sword, or in 2014, the keyboard.
  15. Having fun my man. I don't take it too serious.
  16. I like helping those in need. Now you will always know the answer to that question. Knowledge is power.
  17. So let me try to help you, Slates takes a loss due to the injury default, hence he was beaten by Tyler, who consequently gets a win on his record. People helping people.
  18. This would be a match-up that a gambler would stay away from. I'm not sure I like either one much more than the other to place a wager. If I was going to lay some of my hard earned bread on one of these guys, I'd go with Lee. I've seen them both just a few times, I'm not sure how Tommy would score on Lee and Lee just seems to be relentless on his attacks. Tommy's defense is second to none, but I saw Hughes best him and it was because Drew just kept coming forward, and finally broke through, something I see Lee doing as well. My prediction for a score 5-0, 2 TD's and an escape. Not a knock on the defending state champ by the way, more of a statement about Lee's ability, in one humble man's opinion of course.
  19. Wrestling isn't king at LC in terms of sports, I'll take what I can get. I agree Woods is your best shot this season, fair to say he's the leader out of the club house. I'm over this, good luck.
  20. You are entitled to an opinion and a prediction, I am entitled to disagree with one or both. I agree Penn will win, I disagree with you discounting other teams and not giving them a chance. Nothing is won on paper or through a message board discussion, I prefer to pay my $5 and let the kids decide it on the mat.
  21. In the spirit of the discussion I was having, I needed to address the non-sanctioned dual event to discredit M109R's position. On a personal level, I actually liked the former dual format and don't wish to start a thread about it, I believe it's dead and not coming back at this point. I'm sure it is near and dear to your heart considering your Caveman teams thrived off of the "Team" aspect of the sport and it truly showed. Unfortunately I don't think everyone in the sport sees it as a "Team" sport and don't share your passion. Just getting the competitive juices flowing . I realize the team is the real deal, I took exception to the comment he made, and have a right to respond, as long as I'm appropriate about it no worries.
  22. I'm going to have a "witch" cast a spell and make you go away. Lake Central has had 7 individual champs who've won a total of 11 individual champs. Since you asked, I'll respond, it's great to watch them have their hands raised at the conclusion of the state finals match, perhaps you'll get the same enjoyment from one of your Kingsman someday. Congrats on your Dual championship, does the IHSAA hand out rings for that? Do teams even care enough to attend? Good day sir.
  23. I'm 100% certain everything I said was a fact. Penn will win, but be careful pounding on your chest, don't want you to hurt yourself, it's the first tourney of the year. You are right, you don't have to be an individual or team state champ to win the Harvest, Penn has proven that 4 times.
  24. 106-Has 3 freshman that will battle it out 113-If memory serves me, this was a decent match last year (Hildebrandt/Rodriguez) 120-Reitz/Black 132-Truver/Joseph 152-Swank/Gonzalez 160-Up for grabs 170-Sopko/Mammolenti 182-Osborn/Kleimola
  25. I don't think I ever stated that they didn't win the event last year, I merely pointed out that I missed the time where they won multiple titles, whether it be individually or as a team, that would justify a person posting silliness like, "If Penn sends the Varsity, everyone else will battle for second". I think there are several teams that would have something to say about that and am looking forward to some entertaining matches. Penn is a very good team and I'm happy they are a part of the event.
