  1. That shouldn't matter, in the chair coaching or walking in the Parade of Champions in front of thousands of wrestling fans representing your school you should dress up... now I didn't see Garrett walk out in the Parade of Champions, but if they did have an individual walking with them, you would think someone who is so focused on improving the sport wouldn't allow that individual to wear JEANS and a T-SHIRT representing there school in front of thousands of people. Way to go coach! Maybe the Head Coach should've said something to him about his dress attire, guess he didn't listen to the Assistant Coach.
  2. Wrestling starts at 6:00 so I believe it starts at 5:30. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong!
  3. Parade of Champions! nothing else like it! Sets the mood just right on Friday night!
  4. This will be my 14th in a row, and I still get butterfly's as I'm walking in. I've had friends tell me that watching the Wrestling State Finals was by far the coolest experience they've ever had, and these were non-wrestlers aka some basketball players! I look forward to hearing some names announced and one that will always stick out in my mind is back at Market Square Arena, DDDDDDDDD JJJJJJJJJJ Radddnovich!!!! Still gives me chills!
  5. 152 Welch - Suprised to see Marshall lose in the first round Marshall had a dislocated big toe that looked to bother him the moment he stepped foot out on the mat.
  6. I know Harrison is in the Turkey Classic and also obviously the Harrison 10 way, so right there with 2 meets is approx 18 matches. And I would guess that most of the time Harrison didn't wrestle with a full line-up due to injuries, sickness, family issues, you name it, etc so that could be why most kids on there team don't have as many matches as Mastison...
  7. I agree with you that Johns is the agressor each time while on there feet and with a decent ref then yes there would probably be stalling calls. All I'm saying is that Mastison is no one to overlook, he is just as good as Johns is. To be able to ride someone out like Johns for 3 minutes in the situation they were in says something about the kid. He is no pushover. I'll give Mastison the credit when its due! Congrats! Look forward to watching both of you go at the next couple years if in the same weight class!
  8. I believe you can make an argument for Mastison here also. Everyone might say Mastison stalled his way to a victory, but he also rode out Johns for 3 minutes. To me he earned that victory. Johns is tough though, but Mastison just happened to win the important one. I don't see either of them beating Goebel though, so getting 2nd or 3rd at the Regional isn't really going to matter. The 3rd place finisher could easily get a better Semi-State draw than the 2nd place finisher. You just never know! Good Luck to all 3 of these individuals, I believe each of them could be at Conseco this year!
  9. 103 Kuhn is a step ahead of everyone here. Stock had a big win over Seng to set himself with a good path to the Regional finals. 112 Goebel, Mastison, Johns, Karges. 119 Flip a coin between Welch, Vanhook, and Wedding. All 3 are capable of winning, but I like Welch here. 125 Henderson looked tough today. He'll be tough to beat wrestling like that. Henderson, Moody, Griesemer 130 Hoehn with another big day and is improving week by week it seems. Hoehn, Mangold, Brown, Kelley 135 I still like Konrath here. Dowdy n Schroeder will have to battle it out in the Semi's where Konrath will have a much easier road to the Finals. 140 Rueger continues to look tough. Singleton with a big win over Mann. Rueger, Lannert, Mann, Kieth 145 I see a repeat of the Central Sectional. Whetstine looks like he's on a mission! 152 Welch. Enough said. Then Weinzapfel, Marshall, Prasek. 160 Welch. Idk if Sims is fully healthy to hang with Welch??? I hope so though. 171 Stein. Brandenstein. King/Warren. Oser 189 Boots looked tough today. Sandwith should bounce back though, hope for a closer finals match at the Regional. 215 Wright. Boehm. Schnarr. ???? 285 VanWinkle looks tough. O'Connell is right behind him, then Little, Hohl. This is off the top of my head, be easier once brackets are in front of me... Looks to be another good Regional like always. There are always some upsets that will happen. Good luck guessing those!!!
  10. Seeds 1-6, some might be a little off as I'm going by what someone else told me... 103 Kuhn, Seng, Stock, Suar, Aldridge, Arney 112 Goebel, Mastison, Johns, Braye, Stratman, Rohlman 119 Wedding, Vanhook, Pierre, Hoehn, Cassidy, Brown 125 Henderson, Moody, Oakley, Johnson, Head, Powell 130 Hoehn, Mangold, Bevers, Kelley, Schnarr, Williams 135 Konrath, Schroeder, Dowdy, Petrig, Frymire, Mandel 140 Rueger, Lannert, Hodge, Kieth, Dallas, Elderkin 145 Whetstine, Chamberlain, Riggs, Appell, Rynkiewich, Tramill 152 Weinzapfel, Marshall, Prasek, Dickens, Bogan, Relleke 160 Sims, Hayhurst, Garnett, Dierks, Blanford, O'Risky 171 Brandenstein, King, Guerrtaz, Campbell, Osborne, Boeglin 189 Boots, Sandwith, Ewers, Lane, Skie, James 215 Wright, Pace, Schnarr, Miles, Roberts, Procacina 285 VanWinkle, O'Connell, Little, Hohl, Schapker, Finch
  11. Hohl cannot get 2nd as he is the 4 seed and on the same side as VanWinkle...O'Connell and Little are 2 and 3 seeds and will meet in the semi finals.
  12. I'll second this. Would love to see these two go at it. Maybe an exhibition preview under the lights on Saturday night of whats to come at Purdue? ha.

  14. I'll give it a shot.... 103...Brown CA, GS kid? 112...Karges PR 119 ...Welch CA 125...Griesemer PR, I know he wrestled 130 at the Big 8 but heard he weighed in low and was going 125 for the State Tournament?? Any confirmation on this? 130...Brown CA 135... 140...Mann CA 145...Seiler BO 152...Welch CA 160...Welch CA 171...Stein PR 189...Bender HH 215... 285... These are all off the top of my head....coming out of this Sectional you want to place top 2, getting 3rd and 4th and drawing into a champ or runner-up out of the Central Sectional makes it almost impossible to advance to Semi-State. But you never know, thats why we still wrestle the matches! good luck to all!
  15. Howe! Either way its going to be a match no one should miss! I know where I'll be Friday night! Good thing I have the Big Ten Network!

  17. I agree that 3-5 could be any of those, I just think Castle has chances at 119, 130, 152, 160, and 171 that could get them to the 3rd spot. But with Central beating Castle and Mt Vernon this past weekend it definitely throws a curveball in there.
  18. 103 Kuhn, Seng 112 Goebel, Mastison, Johns, Turi 119 Welch, Wedding, VanHook, Pierre 125 Moody, Henderson 130 Brown, Kelley, Mangold, Schnarr 135 Dowdy, Schroeder 140 Rueger, Lannert 145 Whetstine, whoever MD has, Chamberlain, Appell 152 Welch, MD, Prasek 160 Welch, Sims 171 Brandenstein, King, Warren 189 Boots, Sandwith 215 Schnarr 285 VanWinkle Team Mater Dei Reitz Castle Memorial Central Harrison North Bosse Should be another good SIAC Tournament...Good Luck to all!
  19. Hoehn looked very impressive all day. He easily handled two very tough kids in Brown and Kelley. This is going to be a fun weight class to watch from here on out. I think any of these 3 could win the Regional, and then throw Mangold/May in the mix along with a few others.
