Wasnt he a division1 wrestler at IU? If that is the case, shouldnt he dominate at the division3 level?

It's not like it was the state championship match. Those two boys have two weeks left in their season, so move on!

Union County will win. And Union City people will get on here and talk about how great they are because all of their kids will have great records thanks to a terrible schedule.

It is like this. There is one person who knows if Phillips was hurt too bad to wrestle or not. That person is not me, nor is it anyone else on this thread. We all know who that person is I would think. Whether you agree or disagree with the decision that was made is pretty much irrelevant, it is done. Like someone already said, he would have to beat them all anyway to win a title. So lets get off the dead horse and just wish all of these young men the best of luck. They will sure make it an interesting weekend...

I understand the purpose of seeding, but I'm not sure why it is made such a big deal. If your kid is the better kid then he/she should win no matter of what seed they are. If we are going to make a big deal about it though, there are only three teams in the conference that will suffer at the seeding meeting. Centerville, North Eastern, and Union County are the three schools that actually wrestle competitive schedules. There kids will have more losses which in turn will hurt there seeds.

So explain to me again how someone who has never finished higher than 5th in the state jump 30lbs. and be ranked #1 over a guy who finished 3rd or 4th in the weight class below last year? I am honestly not complaining, but I just want to know your reasoning behind that.

Look, I have obviously stirred up a hornets nest here, which is fine. I am glad to see that this young man has so many supporters on his side. It was not my intention for this to come across in the way that it did, for that I apologize. On the other hand, my opinion hasn't changed and again it is only my opinion. I only meant to start a discussion and maybe I should have worded it differently. I too wish this young man the best of luck as I do all of the other wrestlers.

Im not quite sure that I ragged on the kid. I simply said I was not that impressed to make him #1. I never said I did not like the kid, I never said that he was not any good. I have never nor would I ever get on here and tear a kid apart. What part of sayning you are not that impressed is untactfull? Pease explain! He is a good wrestler, I just feel that there are kids who may be better.

There have been other opinions posted on here much more negative than that and noone has said anything. Just to say you are not that impressed with someone is classless? Never said he wasn't good!!! Just not sure he is #1 thats all. Wouldn't you think moving up that much weight would make it more difficult, especially when you didnt finish in the top 3 of the weight you were in last year. Please someone correct me if i am wrong. Again, not saying the kid isn't good or that I do not like him. Just an opinion.. Last time I checked, I was free to have one of those. Like to have good debates.

Oh ok, thanks for the correction. Just never really been impressed with him enough to believe he is a #1 kid... Any others who agree or disagree? If so explain why...

I thought that he was last year? If not, my bad. He has been ranked #1 a couple of times though at some point in the season, correct?

I honestly dont give two craps about Goldman. He has nothing to do with the conversation! Besides no one ever said he wasn't good. The last two seasons Brooks and Phillips split, again someone who has nothing to do with the conversation. We are talking about a group of 3-4 guys that are at another level compared to the rest of the weight class. Can't see a no name guy beating all of them..

If Ayersman couldnt stop Campbell's offense he wont stop Phillips. We all saw Campbell gas out in the finals, Phillips in better condition. If Campbell is in better condition to wrestle Six minutes or longer then that would be a match to watch!!! Personal opinion.

It may not seem possible to some, but I think Phillips looks better this year than he has the last two!!!! Only points given up all year have been from cutting people loose just to take them down again.
