  1. you cant blame security. people show up before they come across security.
  2. true. EMD historically brings the most people and they were down this year as far as exceptional individuals are concerned. i remember back when they were winning state every year it was the EMD section then the anti-EMD section. makes me laugh thinking about how every EMD match at state either ended in loud boos or raucous applause hahahah. but, hey, even if attendance suffers we can all rest assured that its for a good cause - we are so altruistic as a nation that we believe in taxing our way to prosperity :
  3. just curious if anybody has the attendance numbers from this year and years prior. might be interesting to see if the recent payroll tax increases significantly affected attendance
  4. ray lewis - played in 2 super bowls. faced a double murder charge during one and a PED charge in the other...why is anybody giving this guy attention?
  5. WOW!!! That has to be one of the all-time biggest coaching blunders. I feel terrible for the CP wrestlers.
  6. Lannert was injured and didn't wrestle in semi-state last year.
  7. Anyone who says girls should compete against guys in wrestling has never wrestled a girl. No man with any class would ever want to be put in a situation where physically hurting a girl is possible. As someone who has wrestled 4 or 5 girls, its not that your afraid to lose to a girl (if she beats u its because she deserves to because shes a better wrestler) its that your afraid your going to go out there and accidentally break some girls arm.
  8. I think Sandwith will finally beat Boots Saturday. It's hard to win a match like that on the stage every match has been on (championships) three times in a row.
  9. Sorry, niceshot. It has just gotten to the point to where if I read something dumb I just assume you wrote it. You never said it'd be close though to be fair to you. Congrats
  10. Looks like it wasn't even close. Everyone who thought it'd be a decent dual must feel more stupid than usual. **cough** niceshot **cough**
  11. I dont know him personally, but he seems to be a soft-spoken, hard-working kid who loves wrestling. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that he was disrespectful.
  12. One quick reason Memorial 69, Tell City 6 Central 30, Tell City 36 Central's best wrestler is at 145; Memorial's 145 is ranked 15 and is undefeated (wrestling one of the tougher schedules in the state). Why do you think it will be close?
  13. It won't be close. This dual is not even going to be worthy of discussion.
  14. I agree that Mattison would do a lot better than 3rd at 103. IMO, he would just out-man most 103 pounders. He is a pretty big 112, and 103 is NINE pounds lighter. But, I would be surprised if he could get all the way down to there; he would be scary thin. If he got down to 103 I would not be surprised at all if he made it to Conseco. He would literally be a man among boys.
  15. If you believe Rueger will pin "plain and simple" then you obviously have not seen MD's 140 wrestle this year. I do agree that the slight edge goes to Rueger, but not even the weakest MD wrestlers give up pins "plain and simple".
  16. It might not be close this year. Mater dei is on a different level. Reitz has a few very fine individuals, but mater dei is too tough from top to bottom for any team down south to seriously challenge. MD is scary deep, JV 103 taking 2nd at the Classic and beating a very tough 103 from Floyd Central. I believe MD will take 112, 125, 135, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215, and 285. 103 isnt clear, but the edge goes to MD if Vibbert can get healthy. 119 should be bonus points for Reitz. At 125 I just can't see a senior in Henderson losing to Moody. At 130 it seems like it should be a decision either way. At 140, Lannert is a completely different wrestler this year and could give Rueger all he wants. I predict 45-9 Mater Dei
  17. history tells us both line-ups will look very different by the end of the year
  18. Whatever the kid wants to do and will have the most fun doing is your answer. Unless he's a freak, he isn't going to reach his potential if he hates having to wrestle all the time. Some kids want to be on the mat everyday and some need a break. The kid who needs a break will end up just wasting his spring and fall if he's not mentally into the training. It really is different for every situation. The kid needs to realize whether or not he's actually going to consciously make an effort to improve, and the coach/parent needs to realize and be ok with whatever the kid wants or else they will end up wasting both people's time and money. And don't say high school kid don't know what they want, because they do. Kids who win in wrestling want it bad enough to think and realize how much wrestling is too much wrestling. Back when mater dei was winning state every year most of their guys played football, and did so quite well, all summer/fall.
  19. personally, I think it has kinda ruined the lower weights, especially 103. 103 has turned into a glorified JV weight class. If they are going to regulate weight cutting then they need to get rid of a weight class that no varsity caliber wrestler can wrestle at without breaking the rules.
  20. What will Reitz have this year?
  21. Memorial returns 10 of 13 varsity wrestlers, and they won't forfeit 103 this year. They return 9 regional qualifiers, 5 semi-state qualifiers from last year and 6 semi-state qualifiers total (one SSQ from '08-'09 didn't break the line-up last year), and 1 state qualifier. They will be a very experienced group and should be able to finish closer to the top of the SIAC then in years past.
