  1. Way to go Donnie er....um... Southside coaches I mean.
  2. Broukal vs. Case: Case should've stayed at 125. Broukal is a beast!!! I can't remember the last time OV has had a kid of this caliber. Man the kid is dynomite!!!
  3. The one thing about wrestling that makes it different is that everyone has the chance to prove their worth and earn their spot no matter who they are or who their parents are. It doesn't do any good for parents to suck up to coaches, as the line up is set with wrestle offs. For those that say the coaches are in the wrong for putting this kid in the line up, I would counter that they would've been wrong not to put him in ..... , I am sure the kid who has been in all year is upset that he wont get the chance to gain valuable experience in the post season for next year, but bottom line, he is not the best 140# kid anymore.. maybe he can use this to motivate him to hit it hard in the off season and make sure he can keep his spot next year!! Am I wrong?!?
  4. This sectional will be decided by who ever gets more pins in the consulation round. Vison Quest could never happen now.... he loses more than 1.5% of his weight. You know Shutes' coach would turn him in for a violation.
  5. Say what you want about transferring dude, at least its an ethos!!
  6. Good thing they didn't have you change during Shabbas!!
  7. Karl, do I detect some sarcasm? It could happen. Even though its no Malibu...
  8. I agree ... Ayersman is technical, Campbell is pretty tough and hard to score on though... I say Ayersman scores late and wins 3-1 Notice no quotes this time boot, how about giving me a wahoo?
  9. Didn't a kid named Hardy transfer like three times in the same year.... Beech Grove, South Vermillion Princeton? Can you imaging the hype on the board that one would've gotten....am I wrong?!?
  10. Its like what Liam did, he recruited that guy to be on his team and man he could roll..... 8 year olds dude!! Those guys at the league office still messed up the schedule. We still rolled our way into the semis and then beat Liam and his "ringer"
  11. I am calmer than you are! So really, a kid moves to a new school, he is of high caliber, wants to be on the team, can beat out the kid in the weight class, gets approved by the governing body and the previous school signs off... and you think that the coach should deny him the right to participate? My guess is people would then bash the coaching staff for not allowing the kid the oppourtunity. Am I wrong!! I myself dabbled in transferring once, not in Nam of course, all I know is that 140 pounder really ties the team together...does he not!!!
  12. no need to split hairs here... it would be the one who scores the most points...duh!!! Am I wrong!!!
  13. The schedule is not the issue... the sectional is... also, Dude schedule is not the preferred nomanclature... asian american please. Nice catch busstogate.... way to bussto me out!!
  14. Strength of schedule is not taking into account.... it is not the BCS system. Nor is it taken into account what weight the wins came from. More coaches need to make a conscious effort to wrestle everyone in their sectional. Am I wrong!!
  15. Will be a tough one, my vote is for Coach Harreld for coach of the year. He is doing a fine job at Fishers. Very hardworking. Carmel will be tough to beat in a tournament though.... if they pick up all their spares in the consolations they are a lock.
  16. All three from Madison are very tough....remind me of my buddies in the army!!!
  17. I guess, I was improving on my cool points til you started posting again.... the movie quotes are not the issue here man, The other Jeffery Lebowski, the millionaire... he is the issue, his wife owes money all over town and you give me boos...come on its like what Lennon said, give me WAHOOs!!!!
  18. Coaches should strive to keep open minds when seedings are being decided. The main objective of seeding is to have outstanding wrestlers separated in the brackets so that they will not meet each other until the finals. Seeding shall be based upon the wrestler's proven ability and not upon the desire for unwarranted advantage. 6. Consideration for determining seeded wrestlers is given in order of importance: a. Head to head competition; (The wrestler with the most head to head wins gets the seed. If they have beaten each other an equal number of times, then the winner of the last match gets the seed.); b. Record against common opponents; c. A returning champion or runner-up in the same weight class; d. A contestant with the best overall record (winning percentage) who has wrestled at least 10 matches; NOTE: A wrestler with less than ten matches may not be seeded ahead of a wrestler with at least ten matches and a winning record unless he/she meets criteria in a, b or c. A wrestler with a losing record may not be seeded unless he/she meets criteria a, b or c unless there are less than six (6) wrestlers in the bracket. This is taken out of the winter bulletin.... wrestler with at least ten matches and a winning record unless he/she meets criteria in a, b or c. A wrestler with a losing record may not be seeded unless he/she meets criteria a, b or c unless there are less than six (6) wrestlers in the bracket. 7. A seeded

  20. Knights repeat as WIC champs Sunday, January 23, 2011 * Northview advances nine to championship The Northview wrestling team shows off its hardware following a Western Indiana Conference championship on Saturday. [Click to enlarge] [Order this photo]By CAREY FOX Times Sports Editor CLINTON -- The Northview wrestling team started the postseason exactly how it wanted to as the Knights defended their Western Indiana Conference title by squeezing past Owen Valley for the top spot on Saturday at South Vermillion High School. The Knights tallied 228 points to edge the Patriots' total of 202.5 with Edgewood and distant third. Brown County, Sullivan, South Vermillion and West Vigo rounded out the scoring. The Knights claimed four individual championships and advanced nine competitors to the championship match, but it might have been their third and fifth-place finishers that gave Northview its sixth title in eight years. "I'm pretty happy because, by the seeds, Owen Valley was a few points ahead of us," Northview coach Dan Mikesell said. "They had a couple of bad things happen to them and we had a couple of kids pull through and wrestle above their seeds." The Knights' Caleb Nicosin won his third straight championship on Saturday, Aaron See also repeated his title at 215 pounds and Larry Shaffer won at 160 and Austin Bell was the 130-pound champion. Nicosin came through to claim the 112-pound title over Edgewood's Tyler Bryant with a 9-2 decision to improve to 25-12 overall this year. The win was Nicosin's second straight over Bryan as the Knights' junior won 14-8 in the dual match earlier this season. "It was a good win for Caleb, he wrestled well in the finals. He pretty much controlled his man the entire match and got some near falls to break it open at the end of the second period," Mikesell said. "It was a good match for Caleb and a good day. Hopefully he can win conference again next year and set his goals high to advance in the state tournament." Shaffer was also able to pull away in the third period as he was tied at two-apiece with Edgewood's Damien Chambers heading to the final period before a take down and back points earned him a 9-2 victory. In the 215-pound title match, See came out quickly to take the early lead against Owen Valley's Corbin Knapp. The Northview junior claimed a 2-0 lead with a takedown and bumped that to 4-1 before two near fall points opened the gap heading into the second period. In the second period, See kept the pressure on before scoring the fall and bonus team points. In the 130-pound match, Bell was cautious in the early going, leading just 1-0 after the first period. However, he pushed the pace late in the match against Sullivan's Colt Thompson. Bell went up 5-0 early in the final period before earning the decision. The Knights claimed four individual championships on Saturday at the WIC Tourney. (From left) Austin Bell, Aaron See, Caleb Nicosin and Larry Shaffer were weight class winnners. [Click to enlarge] [Order this photo]"Aaron did a real nice job in the finals, he was real aggressive. Larry did a good job of controlling his guy and Austin wrestled well too. All of the guys that wrestled in the finals and won did a nice job," Mikesell said. Northview also advanced Shane Ryan (103), Skyler Hall (119), Baylor Girton (140), Brody Girton (152) and Beau Judd (285) to the championship match, but the group had to settle for second. The Knights' Brandon Pleake was the top seed at 189 pounds after winning a title last year, but was upset in the second round as he was plagued by asythma complications during a loss to eventual champion, Blake Ray of West Vigo. However, Pleake came back to gain a victory in his third-place match against Brown County's Toby Kirts. "That was kind of the difference. I'm really proud of our kids, the third-place and fifth-place finishers really understood the team concept," Mikesell said. "After they realized that they couldn't be champions, they really sucked it up. Brandon Pleake, coming back as a champion, got upset in the semifinals and he could have folded his tent, but I'm proud of his kind of effort because it means a lot for the team." Nathan Duregger also climbed back to finish third to earn the Knights' extra team points in the championship chase and Trey Boor came through with two more wins to secure a fifth-place. "I really challenged some of those kids that haven't been winning much. I told them we needed them to win at least once today and Trey (Boor) came through with two wins, one with the bonus, so that was great. He got us two bonus points for getting a fall," Mikesell said. "A kid like Nathan Duregger, a senior, he didn't win it individually, but he's won it twice now being a part of this team. He got third and that is a pretty tough weight class. I'm real proud of Nathan, he wrestled above his seed and got third. Absolutely those fifth --and-third-place guys are important when it comes to team championships. "It feels good to beat Owen Valley, they are a sectional opponent too so that's definitely a positive," Mikesell added. "Now we can focus on advancing guys, we've got to get top-four to stay alive or the season is over."
