  4. In the past we have had way too many wrestlers go to DI that really should not have. I am glad to see that we are gradually changing the "DI or bust" attitude the state has had. Just because you could be a starter in DI, doesn't mean you should go there. In the case of Riley, since I have been close to him, he was very late bloomer. He got a rough draw at semi-state as a junior and should have been a state qualifier or low placer. He has matured greatly even since his senior year of high school.
  5. Performance enhancing drug testing is very different when comparing high schools to college/pro/Olympic levels. I assume that most states are like Indiana and leave that up to the local schools and don't drug test at state level events. On top of that college/pro/Olympic athletes can take banned substances if they are prescribed by a doctor.

  7. Four things 1. Keep this topic clean 2. I have read conflicting reports that he has wrestled in girls events throughout the country. Also it has been stated the parents/coach/wrestler never filed anything to ask to wrestle against the boys. 3. If #2 is correct I wouldn't be shocked as it seems parents in many sports will always try to get an edge no matter what. 4. I wish there would be more positive wrestling stories than ones like that that like to bring drama to sports. We do a great thing by having a girl's state championship...then this.
  8. 9. Thanks for your input, it is greatly appreciated.
  10. We have had small school kids win championships...still no movies on them.
  11. Going a little early for the first few weeks. Enter in door 13 and we are above the small gym in a spacious area with over 2 full mats, loud music, and the coolest coaches this side of the MIssissippi. We would rather throw you than know you and believe in the Olympic spirit
  12. DII From Indiana 125- Blake Glogouski- Lake Erie 141- Nick Crume- Indianapolis 149- Isaiah Kemper- McKendree 165- Kyle Jolas- Lindenwood 285- Dylan Faulkenberg- Indianapolis Indiana Schools 125- Ana Abduljelil- Indianapolis 157- Heath Lange- Indianapolis DIII 133- Owen Doster- Wabash 141- Devin Broukal- Wabash 149- Griffin Schermer- Wabash 157- Nick Bova- Wabash 165- Connor Brummett- Wabash 174- Darden Schurg- Wabash 197- Riley Lefever- Wabash Add others as I may have missed some. Also some DII regionals have true 4th matches going on still.
  13. He's taken visits to Purdue and Michigan State. Also the Nebraska wrestling coaches came to watch him at sectional.
  14. The venue would be fine. You can easily add 2-4 mats if you wanted.
  15. There are many things in life that are "classed." Taxes are classed on how much you earn.
  16. As more kids are enjoying success earlier they might even be more tempted to do more off-season activities like RTC's, camps, national level events, etc. Which would help our depth in that our kids would be putting more time in during the off-season. Note: Success could be anything from coming close to qualifying for state to being a high placer or champ, just depends on the kid.
  17. How about we just have 1 weight class? It will be exciting seeing Brayden Curtis try to beat Brayton Lee. Or even Joe Lee trying to take down Andrew Davison! Think of all the potential matches we are missing.
  18. You mean like he did in the finals....right?
  19. You had Chesterton squeaking it out. I'll post the results later today hopefully.
  20. Not yet, but you tied for the most correct.
  21. Imagine that, at least it wasn't Seymour. You need better assistants.
  22. Logansport only won 15 first round matches at semi-state this year, all others had 30+.
