  1. As many of you know, I have been in the corner for many Lefever matches. I made the trip to Lacrosse to witness history. It is a surreal feeling seeing Riley accomplish this feat that very few at any level have every achieved. The Lefever family came into my life about 10 years ago when the twins came to a camp at Garrett. Since then I have traveled all over the country to coach and watch these kids wrestle. Just to type that I am proud of these three guys doesn't do them justice. They are extreme competitors on the mat, but as Gregg Doyel stated, when they step on the mat they flip the switch. These three are the types of kids you'd want your daughter to marry. It starts with great parents and a great support system at home. Congrats not only to the Lefever family, but the Wabash family, the Carroll Charger family, but even beyond that the Indiana wrestling family. This is something as wrestling fans that we can be immensely proud of. Thanks for the great ride Lefevers, the stories, the trips, the fun times will always be something I cherish. I thank you guys for letting me be a part of the process and trusting me with your sons. It was a great ride and these are the types of people that make coaching so worthwhile.

  11. There are so many words to describe Tom, he was a friend to everyone and is the type of person that makes this sport so great. Just reading Facebook tonight with many, many friends posting messages and stories about him tells you the reach he had. He made an impact on so many of us and will be dearly missed. The stories and his impact on this sport not only in Indiana, but throughout the world will last for eternity. We lost a great one today, but he will be looking down on us and I'm sure he'll keep us all in line in his own personal way.

  16. Right on cue... I didn't take my ball anywhere. You can thank me later for getting the price of the Scholastic Duals dropped by at least $100 and the kids getting better gear. Instead of this being a money grab for the IHSWCA it has become and affordable event. Amazingly this all happened within the past four years.
  17. Amazingly vito and sportsfangms have the same opinion and are at the same IP address.
  18. I think at the youth level it would help tremendously. At the same time like you said if the kid says he won't wrestle because of the singlet, if you go to another uniform option he will likely come up with another excuse. More than that though I think it will help wrestling's image.
  19. Some people like to be able to make their own decisions. Just like Brayton shunned Brownsburg at Disney and is instead going with Carroll because of the gear and we stay at a fancy resort.
  20. There has NEVER been a monetary gain for the Gorillas. They get $150+ worth of gear alone. Singlet- $50 Fight Shorts- $40 Sweats- $25 Sweatshirt- $25 Tshirt- $10 Sublimated Socks- $20 Gear bag- $40 Entry fee- $40 Hotel $50-$100 Do the math and you'll figure out that this is a way of GIVING BACK to the kids instead of taking away from them.

  22. Nothing was said to me the first year(2013) when Connor Knapp was on my team after finishing 3rd, he would have been on the Blue team Again 2014 Connor Knapp was on the team...and nothing said to me, same with Jeremiah Reitz after he won state. Reitz was up a weight though. In 2015 nothing was said to me about Tylor Triana, Blake Glogouski, Steven Lawrence, or Nathan Walton. All would have at least been on the Blue team. In 2016 we had Mulkey, Black, Brayton Lee, and Nathan Walton who would have been gold. Walton was up to 182, so supposedly he was cleared. Mulkey and Lee wanted to be on the team with Walton, McCormick, and Mills(injury prevented him from wrestling). Note that in 2016 Andrew Davison was Gold team at 195 after wrestling 182 during the season and his brother was on the Blue team as a semi-state qualifier. I know for a fact at at least one of the six underclass state qualifiers wrestled for a Renegade team. Obviously they were fine choices, but something weird happened there. This year...I know guys like Curtis, Mulkey, Brayton Lee, Noah Warren, and Nathan Walton were wanting to wrestle. Curtis up a weight and Mulkey, Walton and Warren would have been Blue if the IHSWCA did a decent job recruiting.
