Galagore
We recently had new mats put down in our wrestling room. They are great except that there seems to be some kind of oily or waxy layer on the surface of the mat. Not sure if it will wear off or if there is something we can do to get it removed. We have mopped several times, but it's still there. Has anyone else had an issue like this and can provide any insight?
buttler73
Before using the mat for wrestling, it's important to remove this wax layer. Typically, the manufacturer or supplier will provide instructions for removing the protective coating. This process often involves applying a specific cleaning solution or detergent and then rinsing thoroughly. It's crucial to follow the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure the mat is safe and ready for use in competitions. hope this helps. Matt Time
Mild solution of Dawn dish soap in water takes off all manner of wax/grease/oil-based grime. Just don't use too much or your mats will make bubbles the next 10 times they are mopped. It's a marvel of modern chemistry. Tcarter
Galagore
Thank you both. We did not get any instructions on removing the wax, but good to know we're not just going nuts. We will investigate and move forward with a solution. IndianaMat for the win once again:} Y2CJ41 and Tcarter
