Hopefully she can also repeat as the Junior Champion at the end of today.

Jasmine Fuller of Jeffersonville placed 6th. Did a great job for her first time out here.

Several Indiana girls wrestling today. Kayla, Jasmine, Gibby Paxton (Crawfordsville), Kaitlin Loehmer (Chesterton), Taylor Stevens (Perry Meridian), Cayla Allen (Boonville), and Ashlyn Burns (Mooresville) are all competing for Junior National Championships today.

Congratulations to Kayla Miracle and Gibby Paxton.

Gibby placed third at USA Junior Women's Folkstyle Nationals.

Kayla Miracle tech'd her opponent in the finals 21-6 to become first female in history to double as Cadet & Junior USA Woman's Folkstyle National Champion two years in a row.

Great job girls! Also great job to Darren Strubb for organizing the trip. It is very appreciated.

Kayla bumped up another weight class today in the dual competition in hopes of facing some new opponents. The first dual against TX she wrestled their 4x state champion who was undefeated for past two years. Kayla tech'd her 15-0. After that no team was willing to put a wrestler out to face her. She even tried bumping two weight classes to wrestle Cadet & Junior National Folkstyle Champion Becka Leathers of Oklahoma but, the coach refused at the table to let them wrestle saying Kayla did not weigh enough (which technically was true but, weigh ins were on Friday at noon for individual tourney) but, agreed to let them wrestle an exhibition at the end of the dual. At the end of the dual the coach changed his mind and said no.  Frustrating.

Sorry to hear Kayla couldn't get some more matches in, but glad to hear she is trying to hunt down the best competition she can.

Glad to see we were able to put together an actual girls team though and finished 4th.

The team wrestled hard but, we are young, a bit inexperienced, and need to get some good training in before Fargo. We also need more girls to get involved no matter what age. It was a step in the right direction though for our state. The future of women's wrestling is looking bright for Indiana. Now we just need a women's college program in our state.

That's ashame. I had the opportunity to see Kayla wrestle this past season at the State Meet and at Indy National. I must say after speaking with her and watching her wrestle she is the REAL DEAL......I really think that she will place at the STATE next year....keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!
