sectional entry list

you are allowed to enter 2 kids on the same team in the same weight class?

There is a sectional entry list that must be sent to the IHSAA. You can only enter 28 wrestlers on this list and only 2 per weight. The wrestlers are listed by name, grade, birth date, and also some other information.  The wrestlers can be entered at the seeding meeting only if they are on this list and only at the weight class listed on the entry list or the next weight up. Only one wrestler per school actually gets to wrestle at the sectional.

I just read the winter bulletin and it says you can weigh-in a maximum of 28 wrestlers for the team series.  It does not say anything about the number of entrants allowed on your sectional entry list.  Plus, injuries can pop up between due date of entry list and the team series.  It makes sense that you could enter as many kids as you want.

This is copied from the email the IHSAA sent to the schools for the entry list.

Special Instructions:

1) A school may enter no more than 28 participants.

2) A school may have no more than 2 entrants per weight class.

A wrestler can bump up one class from the one he is entered at on the sectional entry list. This is copied from the IHSAA winter bulletin:

III TOURNAMENT RULES

A. Official Rules ? The current rules as published in the National Federation Wrestling Rules and as further modified by the IHSAA, shall govern.

B. Weight Classifications are 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, 215 and 285. The certified actual weight of each

contestant for a weight class must be one of the above weights or less.

1. Weighing-In ? A contestant may NOT wrestle in a class lower than the class entered on the sectional entry list. He/she may NOT wrestle

in a class higher than the class immediately above his/her entered weight class.

Can someone confirm for me that the wrestler can, in fact, bump up one weight class from the one he is entered at for the sectional entry list? Thanks.

Yes he can...but if he becomes seeded at the sectional seeding meeting he must stay at that weight for sectional. But after that if your team advances, he can wrestle that weight or bump up one.

It does not matter if the guy is seeded or not at the sectional. If he is placed in a bracket at the sectional seeding meeting he can not change weights for the sectional.
