Drooke
After withdrawing from "M-1 Breakthrough," Don Frye set to face Dave "Pee Wee" Herman by John Morgan on Aug 17, 2009 at 5:50 pm ET After recently withdrawing from a main event bout with Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal at "M-1 Breakthrough" on Aug. 28, MMA legend Don Frye (20-7-1) will instead face heavyweight prospect Dave "Pee Wee" Herman (14-1) on Sept. 12 for the Texas-based Shark Fight promotion. FiveOuncesofPain.com was the first to report the matchup, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed the bout with Herman's manager, Mike Camp of F-1 Management. While the organization has yet to officially announce the event, the bout is expected to headline the organization's Shark Fights 6 event in Amarillo, Texas. The bout will be Frye's second-straight appearance for Shark Fight. The 43-year-old defeated Rich Moss by submission at May's Shark Fights 4, Frye's only bout so far in 2009. Frye withdrew from "M-1 Breakthrough" following the relocation of the event from Los Angeles to Kansas City, Kan. Herman will seek his second straight win. The former EliteXC and ShoXC fighter opened his career with 13-straight wins, but he suffered a disappointing loss to Mu Bae Choi at January's Sengoku No Ran 2009. "Pee Wee" bounced back with a first-round TKO win over Josh Barnes under the Bellator Fighting Championships banner in May. Thirteen of Herman's 14 career wins have come in the first round. Past editions of Shark Fight, a Texas-based promotion that debuted in 2008, have featured notable fighters Phil Cardella, Richie Hightower, Rex Richards, Shannon Ritch and Jesse Taylor. At the organization's most recent show, July's "Shark Fight 5.5: Nothing to Lose," the organization gave away more than 10,000 free tickets. Y2CJ41
He probably could not defend the whizzer of death that Herman utilizes.
