It is covered in the 2020-21 IHSAA Winter Bulletin
Not to be a pain, but I could not find where it said that every W.I. after achieving 6 qualifying weigh-ins had to be recorded. Please help.

All weigh ins must be entered.
Is that mentioned in the weight management rules somewhere?

I understand that part but it doesn't always translate that way on the program. It seems like it resets after each weigh-in im just trying to confirm. Like in your example a way in directly after 170.4 would go off of that weight not the other 2 weights you have listed. But I've seen a kid go from 149.6 to 144.8 in 4 days and it still count. But another kid go 143.0 to 139.8 in 8 days and it not count.
It does not reset after each weigh-in. That being said, I have witnessed a couple of times when the program has made a mistake and counted a weigh-in as certified when it shouldn’t have. I have not had the opposite occur yet.

Just curious - how many of you coaches continue to have your wrestlers weights entered even after they have satisfied the 6 certified weigh-ins rule? Do all weigh-ins have to be entered?

What about kids who are cutting weight ,. You can’t expect them to step on the scale moments before they wrestle .
We can, and should expect kids to be able to weigh in moments before they wrestle. They should be adequately hydrated before competition and if we really are concerned about weight loss practices, mat side weighing may be a way to enforce better weight management issues.

Has anybody kicked around the thought of matside weigh-ins during this pandemic? Maybe +1 pound or so.

I preach the rule to our coach and wrestlers. I beg them to make sure they have their qualifying weigh-ins. I'm beginning to wonder why.

This is one of those times that we don't have all the information. I surely hope that the kid made scratch weight, but maybe it wasn't a "green" weigh-in due to a previous weigh-in that was a little high.
Can there be a green weigh-in that is a little high?

So in theory, the #2 seed could be undefeated including have beaten the #1 seed. But because the #1 seed has won more matches against the other sectional teams, they get the better seed?
As an earlier comment stated, every year there seems to be a different interpretation. Maybe a few examples could be added to the bylaws to clear up any ambiguity.
Yes, you are correct. The interpretation by RF is 100% wrong. All wrestling coaches know that. Well, except for the stubborn ones who want the number seed. There should be no confusion. If A beat B, and no other opponents beat either one, then A is a higher seed than B. It really is that simple.

They should then hand each of them one of those big rubber hammers used to smack the gong thingy too, that make it even more exciting
So, not a fan of mat side weigh ins?

This may have been discussed before, but coaches, what are your thoughts on mat side weigh ins for dual meets?

I posted this on another thread on Facebook recently, but we are wrestling newbies as a family. One thing I have never understood is the entire weigh-in process to begin with, moreso from an efficiency standpoint than any other reason...but if the sport was really serious about weight programs then this solution I thought about makes sense.
If I ruled the world then everyone would weigh in mat-side. Have one of those old school scales set to the proper weight for that mat. Have each wrestler step on the scale when they are on-deck. If the scale goes to the fatso side (the side I am most familiar with) then sorry, you forfeit. If it stays on the skinny side, then get ready to wrestle.
All the sudden the self-policing and wrestling at actual weight would become a lot more serious if not making weight EACH match was a concern. If kids had to cut and keep it off all tournament long then they would either wrestle like crap or feel awful, both of which should be de-motivators.
But I know, I know..."THAT'S NOT HOW I DID IT! I WORE A SUIT UNDER A TRASH BAG WITH MY MULLET TUCKED IN THE BACK IN THE 80S AND I WAS TOUGH BECAUSE OF IT!!" I get it.
Just seems like this scenario takes all gamesmanship out of it. I also realize it will never be adopted ever. Which has told me that any "guidelines" are moreso to satisfy lawyers than something most actual wrestling folks actually care about.
I've been a proponent of mat-side weigh-ins for several years now.

Where can we access the rules/guidelines for the weight management system?

A wrestler only has to make scratch weight once. Otherwise, a weigh-in will count as one of the 6 qualifying weigh-ins any time the wrestler is at or above the weight as listed on his report.
-
The 2% parent form is not available for wrestlers who have less than 7% body fat. The physician's note however is required. If a wrestler has less than 7% BF, that wrestler CANNOT go any lower than his alpha weight. Example: alpha weight = 120.1, BF = 6.9%, wrestler cannot go 120.
