  1. isn't florida a "class" wrestling system?......and brandon is one of the smaller sized schools?.......
  2. nationally ranked kids for mishawaka.......you really can't count stahl as he is an ELKHART MEMORIAL product.....
  3. MYWAY tournaments without a doubt blow away the ISWA tournaments. They are ULTRA efficient and well run. We'll be at both Hobart and Jimtown this weekend and other than some good competition at both, I dread being there. PLEASE ISWA, take some lessons from MYWAY. They know how to get it done. We have been at some ISWA's that actually take till evening to get over with! Weigh in at 7am and then wait 2-3 hours to wrestle if you're lucky - and then another 2-3 hours or so between matches - it's ridiculous. Most kids (especially the younger ones) can't keep their attention span that long. Another place they could take lessons from is Whitko. Their tournament this winter, although small, went so fast I couldn't beleive it. One match after another, no breaks. Kids ad to stay by their mat and be ready to go. Very well run.
  4. michigan uses the class system......my friends son was the state champ one year (from a 2A sized school) but had 5 losses that year all to 3 kids from 5A sized schools that didn't even place at their state tournament...... so he's a state champ but billy, bobby and buddy (who all beat him) aren't.......does that make any sense?.....if you're the best at your weight it makes no difference how big your school is.......now, from a team standpoint, i think in most cases size does matter - more kids give you more to choose from - there will always be the small schools here and there that are good.....but that is mostly because they have top notch programs and coaches......my vote is no class system....let the best be the best and everyone else licking their chops wishing they were on top.......
  5. hey youngone, even though no one agrees with you, your post was nicely thought out and well written....just not a good idea though......i say keep it just like it is now.......
  6. remember these words.....CORE STRENGTH.....this acheived by not only doing the traditional types of weight training but adding in some newer (yet actually very old) training methods....the newest fad is kettlebells.....if trained properly by a qualified intructor, this can be a fantastic way to gain core strength....paying for personalized training or small group training is essential to getting the most out of your workout.....anyone who tells you different hasn't ever worked with a trainer.....most people will not push themselves like a trainer will......think of it the same as paying to go to CIA or any of the other top wrestling programs......no one has a problem with that......becasue they know the instruction and work ethic is what their kids need.....same with strength training......we have a place in Osceola Indiana called RockStar Kettlebell Gym that trains young athletes of all sports.....wrestling, baseball, football, softball......boys and girls......they go through workouts that include kettlebells, tire flipping, sledge hammers, agility drills among many other training techniques. the instructors there are all certified and do an awesome job at getting these kids in top notch shape. There is no substitue for proper instruction in this area. Yeah you can buy a book or get a routine off the internet but very few if any kids will push themselves day in day out to do full complete workouts by themselves or with their buddies.....
  7. i think that if sean is reading this he is giving most of you the "one" finger salute right about now.....way to go dude, you wrestled awesome and i thought your "three" finger salute was pretty cool.....put a smile on my face.....
  8. penn has a kids program that is second to none......huge numbers, great coaches and community/parent support......penn will dominate everyone in the next few years....also look for elkhart memorial to rebound quickly....they will lose 8 seniors this year that were all varsity and lost 3 seniors during the season that were varsity.....a number of freshmen and sophmores got varsity experience this year.....and the jv team was very dominating versus the others in the area......
  9. i see where quincy richey's name was brought up as a very possible road block for one of them....but which one?.....on the ihsaa website the brackets show him wrestling stahl.....on indianamat.com website the brackets show him wrestling corpe.....who gets the tough sophmore from the south?
  10. everyone who doesn't personally know both of these kids and their families, and the wrestling programs they are in, should reserve the comments about who, what, when and where.....they are both great athletes who are gunning for the same thing.....a state title.....is there a little bit of controversy because of the past?.....sure there is......a little bit of pride on the line?.....ok, ok, one hell of alot of pride on the line......i hope they both get to point where they can wrestle saturday and when it's over, i also hope they can shake hands and be friends again.......life is to short to hold grudges forever......
  11. This is a classic example of schools "no exceptions" rules these days. I've seen it used incorrectly a number of times and this appears to be another. Common sense has to come into play you would think but as seen here, it didn't. It's easier for school officials to just say no - this is what the rules say and that's that, instead of standing up for what's right. When I was in school in the 70's, things were so much different - so much simpler. And we all made it through just fine. Alot of times teachers made the rules themselves - based on common sense and what was truly the right thing to do. Our society has gone to far with rules and regulations - it's not always black and white.................
  12. without a doubt, corpe vs surma........corpe had him cradled and pinned in the first period for about a minute and the ref wouldn't call the pin.....it was ridiculous.....and then the 4 stalling points in the third period?.....wtf was that?......that ref should be banned.....he threw the match and he knows it.....i wonder how much he was paid.............................
  13. alot of good predictions for sure......but, in the end, no one will come close to taking out mishawaka.....they are just a step above every other program this year......although the dual with penn was somewhat close......i also think that if penn and mishawaka were in different brackets, penn would go quite far in the team tournament......watch out for them next year......how about elkhart memorial?......they had a tough year losing three senior starters by the end of 2009.....with only 2 seniors next year, they will be rebuilding but will have a tough group of sophmores and juniors that got alot of varsity experience this year......they will be back to rule the nlc as always......jimtown will continue it's winning ways too.....they have a young tough team......
  14. Elkhart Memorial wins the NLC Team Points and finishes unbeaten in Conference taking yet another NLC Conference Championship. Way to go Chargers!
  15. i have never been to a tourney that went that fast....the action never stopped.....very well run to say the least......for sure though the big guys needed more space.......great job whitko!
