  1. I will wager that the irony of your comment is lost on you...my humble opinion.
  2. spongebob and Patrick had a similar discussion with two yahoos on whether or not they could "last ten seconds past that county line."
  3. Xcard- How many times will a merrillville and md fan agree on a dual? The referee was truly awful; hard to tell which team got the worst of it. A very exciting dual, most matches were competitive with many momentum changes. After 182, it was anyone's ball game. As always, I got a kick out of coach moldanado working the corner. This is a great, emerging rivalry. For the series, mater dei led 5-0 until the pirates defeated them last year, 37-27. I look forward to the 2014 match-up.
  4. They are a solid two. Behind franklin, cathedral, penn, merrillville, md and perry
  5. willis wrestled 120 against mater dei. central forfeited 126.
  6. I also heard coach leek does not do push-ups...he pushes the world down. is that true?
  7. My updated and personal (least) favorite clichés list for 2014: "The only ranking that matters is who tops the podium at Banker's Life". Solid evidence and reasoning that any pre or in-season rankings should be banned. Also, if you are not in contention to win a state title, you should probably quit. "...will make some noise". It's a good thing. Everyone hates a quiet winner. "...will surprise some people". Surprise who with what? He is out of pull-up pants? "It's all about the six minutes". Unless, of course, you get pinned in three seconds. Coaches pre-match speech when his team/athlete is hopelessly overmatched. “They’re just like us; they put their singlets on one leg at a time.” The only difference is, once they get their singlets on they are going to pin us. Ridiculous assertions that the wrestler you are promoting was winning until he "got caught.” IE: "He was doing great against Tsirtsis until he 'got caught' on the 15th takedown and was tech falled 30-15." "(After the loss) He will be back in the room working hard." Because, as we all know, after a win, a really good wrestler generally takes off a week. "They are the hardest working team in the state.” Is there a nomination process for the "hardest working team?” Was James Brown a wrestler before he became the godfather of soul? Billy Bob will win is because he "works harder." That is because no one else in the state, sectional, conference, etc. works hard at his weight class. I am awaiting the day that someone posts, "He is lazy, but he will win because he is stronger than anyone else." Thanks to Y2CJ41 for this gem. How about this statistic that every coach uses, but it never seems to show up on the stat sheets: the "shoulda won." I have coaches tell me that a wrestler has 15 wins and 20 losses, but 10 of those losses are matches he "shoulda won." Some kids have more "shoulda wons" than they have actual victories. I often wonder how this works in seeding meetings. "I know my wrestler has 30 losses, but I want him seeded No. 1 because he 'shoulda won' at least 25 of those." Tip of the hat to Friendsfrunningwriter. He is on a MISSION. Good one, alcorntr "He’s got heart" (about the guy you hope wins). Heart, but no ability. Sorry I only picked one of your submissions, maligned. They were all good.
  8. At St. Louis you have merrillville, md and a host of ranked kids from Missouri, Tennessee and illilinois
  9. Give Macke a beard and reflecto sunglasses and you have randy savage. Step into a slim Jim
  10. now that you mention it, i believe craig macke (on mater dei's coaching staff) and leek had a few dustups. maybe we sub macke in for Schaefer and reignite the rivalry!
  11. i will pay extra to see a leek/karges vs. Schaefer/pierre match.
  12. i agree. franklin has one of the best schedules in the state; smith has pretty much wrestled anyone/everyone of consequence. has ferguson had any marquee match-ups? both have improved over last year. this one should be a real donnybrook.
  13. southern- how stupid is the central sectional at 160? the central champion will have to face the central third-place finisher in the semis of the regional. the winner of that gets the runner-up. you are almost better off finishing the sectional in second place. holy crap! everyone knows about kemper and forzley; few know about McDaniel. he is over six feet tall, a good scrambler, very quick and technical. central and md wrestle brutal schedules; not so sure about Tecumseh. we'll see how it plays out. schnell and seng are the class of 138. i look for another great bout with seng getting the "w." at 145, i'll pick pierre over karges. pierre has wrestled a very tough schedule. i believe he is undefeated. smallmouth bass looks bigger and stronger than last year. he has really developed his dorsal and caudal fins, yet, he is still in the same weight class. i heard he and konerding were close the last time they wrestled. both go at it hard; this one should be a dandy. konerding: don't try the rapala; he is not biting. texas-rig a jelly worm and target the lay-downs. btw- the word is that bassemier hates Kevin VanDam (pro bass fishing superstar. i know, it's obscure.)
  14. I hate to agree with panther vision, BUT... He is right. I got to see Kobe for the first time last weekend. The kid has tremendous upside. Very impressive.
  15. this is a dual meet ranking? in other words, busco, Yorktown and franklin earned the top spot. how/why did perry meridian get a first place vote?
  16. good comeback. with your "panther vision", you may need to pull said chair closer to the mirror. panther out!
  17. region wrestling fans, drop what you are doing and follow my instructions. remove your shirt, put a chair in front of a mirror and sit in it. for five hours, I want you to examine the reflection of your belly button and ponder the region's rightful place in Indiana wrestling. the answer will come surprisingly easy.
  18. i watched a replay of your hangout on youtube. what you guys do is terrific and great for our sport. why don't you guys do a show re-capping state? in 3a, there are 3-4 matches that could give you interesting grist, turning points, momentum, etc. keep up the good work!
  19. big, you are the MAN. 2014 is off to a great start.
  20. "this is may last post on this. this horse is dead." -jchas, 3 hours ago. better name that horse lazarus, my friend
  21. is this caliboy? do you know him? lovers?
