  1. My teaching position was cut at Southmont and trying to find a social studies job in Indiana was like a needle in a haystack so my wife and I decided to take on an adventure. The culture shock took awhile but it has been an experience I wouldn't trade for anything in the world. I've even managed to get some kids interested in wrestling (basketball reigns king in the Eskimo villages) so that was an added bonus. The Iditarod is coming up which should be fun and we've had two polar bears in our village this month so that alone was worth the move. I'd still love to be at Conseco next weekend though, that's for sure. Kevin Wilkinson Shishmaref, Alaska
  2. I recently moved to Alaska after teaching and coaching in Indiana for three years. I was running a kids camp in my village (22 miles south of the Arctic Circle, 130 miles from Russia, and 100% Eskimo) and two boys were putting on quite a show during their match. They both wanted to come out to music and be introduced like their WWE idols. Anyways, by the 3rd period one of the boys hit a nice double leg and the other went crashing to the mat. After going belly down, the kid looks up at me and says, "He can have the belt!" and promptly tapped out. I was seriously in tears laughing so hard. Only in "Bush Alaska"...
  3. Things are going well here on the Arctic Circle. Our season finished in December up here so now I'm keeping track of the Mounties. They're off to a great start! 0-9 in the finals is a little rough but they'll rebound. Tell Chance to keep working hard...it's awesome to see him making noise as a freshman, especially at 145 which is usually an upperclassmen weight class. Take care and tell your family I said hello. Coach Wilkinson Shishmaref, Alaska
  4. South is solid at 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 215.
  5. Southmont is 15-1 with their lone loss to Lawrence North. They should be at the top of the heap with Westfield, NW, etc.
  6. Forgive me if someone already posted this but why isn't Cashe wrestling?
  7. I coach in the "bush" of Alaska and I was curious if anyone has any suggestions on mat cleaner since we have trouble getting anything shipped to my school? Please post if you any ideas. Thanks.
  8. Does anyone know a good place to train at the Indiana Dunes?
  9. Rachel Welliever 7th grade Alex Grino 6th grade Chandler Moore 8th grade
  10. Can someone please help me out with the name of this song and who it is by? Thanks.
  11. They moved in fair and square. If they hadn't, the gestapo, I mean IHSAA would have found out and put another feather in their cap. Looking at the competition in the room the last few years, it seems like a no brainer for these two shredders to pick CP. I would have killed to have guys like this in the room when I wore the Bulldog singlet. Congrats to both.
  12. 112,130,189,215... To be honest though, I thought this year's finals matches were not as exciting as usual. The wrestling is getting so good that it's starting to resemble college wrestling, IMO.
  13. I respectfully disagree on the New Castle officiating. At least the two mats I was watching. Many instances the officials were out of position or flat out refused to overturn a call. It's a tough job but to decide matches at this level is a travesty.
  14. Y2, I hope your comment wasn't directed at me. I agree with you on ethics and integrity but unfortunately we don't live in an ideal world. I simply brought up the point that the brackets for New Castle probably shouldn't have been released until Wednesday. I'm surprised you didn't see the problem this may cause for the wrestlers and coaches at Richmond. Please don't take this as a "slam" on you or your website. I just think you dropped the ball on this one...
  15. Does anyone else think they should have waited to release these until after the Richmond Regional played out? If I knew a first place finish would give me Brandon Wright in the round to go, I might think twice especially if a second or third place finish ensured an easier road to Conseco. Any other thoughts out there?
  16. My bad. I didn't see the end of the match. One of the Lebanon coaches told me it was a fall.
  17. Molloy wbf over Julien in the 3rd. Score before the fall was 13-4.
  18. Team Champion: Danville Individual Champions: 103-Julien (Leb) 112-Campbell (Leb) 119-Molloy (D) 125-Campbell (Leb) 130-Lawrence (Fr) 135-Davis (Webo) 140-Bealmear (TW) 145-Myers (NM) 152-Tribbett (Cv) 160-Kolb (TW) 171-Fairley (Cv) 189-Heitkamp (D) 215-Hollifield (D) Hwt-Boley (Leb)
  19. Thanks for the feedback. I greatly appreciate it. I hope we can pull it off. I went down there in 2000 with the Region Rats and it's something I will never forget. Thanks again to everyone who posted.
  20. I'm in the process of ordering new singlets and due to the website's inventory, the only school color left is white. Thoughts or opinions on white singlets???? This is my first rodeo with ordering singlets and I don't want to waste $1000. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  21. My high school is interested in going to Orlando this summer for the Duals. If anyone out there could give me a ballpark estimate on cost, I would greatly appreciate it.
  22. Nathan is not wrestling this year due to violating school rules.
