    Maybe political is not the right word to describe this situation, but to beat a guy three times in the US making you the best in the US and having to place better than that same person at an international tourny is crazy to me. There are so many factors that could play into the outcome injury, illness, bad day at the office. It looks pretty cut and dry to me who should be representing the US at that weight.

    I was completly blown away when i seen Rulon, i sat in the sauna with him in 05 at the otc and he was still in good shape. It was crazy to see him like that, but with his drive and unhumane ability to sweat and if he dont get voted off he should have a shot at the title...

    I have heard this speech in person...and if you go into every practice with this attitude there is no stopping you....i wish that everybody could here Fraser give this talk, you leave feeling motivated and it gives you some tips on how to motivate yourself on them days when you dont want to train...

    Broad Shoulders, big fore-arms, huge lats, a grip like a pitbulls bite, the urge to throw somebody on their face when they give you a hug (sorry g-ma), strong will, a splash of arogance, a ton of sportsmanship, wrap that all up in a thick leather bag and you got a pretty good wrestler...haha

    Y2- i dont think i really ever bragged about cutting weight, but cutting is an option so for the football coach to try and tell the football guys not to wrestle because of weight cutting is madness...i dont think there has ever been a coach that makes a kid cut...

    When i was in highschool we had so much god given wrestling ability just roaming the halls, whom all played football. But thanks to the ignorance of the football coach we could never fill a wrestling team, he always told them that wrestling would make them weak and that youll lose to much weight, and the previously mentioned infamous black list for not attending off season workouts. Whats funny is he was just inducted into the conference hall of fame with a barely .500 overall career win record. Oh and the kids that came from football into wrestling were always fat, lazy, and out of shape. Thats just my take on this subject.

    Mauer was side lined by an injury after fargo senior year that required surgery to repair, so that is a bit unfair to say he was not the best because we dont know what he couldve done in college due to that injury.

    I was going to come wrestle this weekend (senior163), and dont have a card yet and was just wondering if they were going to be sold on site.

    My suggestion, give the high school guys a one week break and and go right into the freestyle greco season, but keep the folkstyle for the little kids....although im not an advocate of the folk season there are some parents that are not goin to pay for there kids to wrestle freestyle (which is insane) let them do there thing have the kids folk state then let them join the freestyle greco season.... a little food for thought I never wrestled over 40 matches in a highschool folkstyle season win/loss included i went 127-14. I wrestled freestyle and greco every spring and nearly doubled, let me repeat that doubled the amount of matches i had in a high school season, so roughly(very low end rough) i had around 280 matches in 4 years wrestling the styles that everyone is so eager to bad mouth. That seems like alot of valuable mat time to me.

    I think the fact that we as a state and nation are still wrestling folkstyle is rediculous. I know that this statement will open a can of worms, because we are so gungho folkstyle in Indiana. But sometimes the truth is a hard pill to swallow, if you look at our national medals in freestyle and greco compared to other states we are sub par. If you compare numbers on the world level same thing sub par. The reason being is that we put so much emphasis on a style that is worthless to us after the collegiate level. Look at the european countries they consistently have teens or early twentysomthins on there world level teams, with that being said we as a country had two last olympics dietchler and cejudo, dietchler double dipped and cejduo who quit wrestling folkstyle to train freestyle full time won an olympic gold medal. I think that adds a little merit to my arguement.

    We have three indiana wrestlers ( state champs) wrestling in the ncaa's. How cool would it be if they were all crowned nccaa champs on the same night?

    My dad wrestled in high school my mom thought it was a terrible idea that i start, but nineteen years later i am still involved. I dont think she new the work ethic, drive, and overall never quit attitude that comes with the sport. jokes on her

    Wrestled 140 senior year(2004) cut from 52....gained about 20lbs in about two months wrestling in college, wrestled 66kg... i weigh about the same now days

    I graduated in 04 seems like yestereday, i am married with a two year old daughter and a son on the way. For you seniors, take it for what its worth but you will be finding out who your true friends are in the next year or two.

    Download Sandstorm by darude...i know its techno but turn that on while doing live goes and try not to get amped up haha
