  1. 189 over all looks the toughest, but 130 and 160 are the two toughest weight classes to win. Period. 189 it looks like there will be a battle for first, 130, and 160, looks like a battle for second, no disrespect to anyone in those weight classes but tsirtsis and McMurray are monsters.
  2. Im perfectly fine with it, as long as they work hard, they deserve the chance to wrestle
  3. How can you say Brooks controlled Stevens when Stevens was beating Brooks up until 45 sec left in the match. Brooks then got a takedown with 45sec left to take the lead, but was reversed right away?? I'm pretty sure Brooks controlled the match, or atleast outwrestled Stevens, hats off to Stevens though, he was able to hold Brooks off, but if Brooks handles cutting weight well, I would be very suprised to see Stevens hold him off again
  4. My statement obviously did not apply to most freshmen, but in my experience I have seen plenty of freshmen with technique that matches that of a lot of upperclassmen, even the best of them, those four years in high school aren't that big of significance to those who have been wrestling all their life's.
  5. Personally, I like 103, because those smaller kids that are 90 some pounds have better chance to get some wins in and not get discouraged. Wrestling is a great sport because kids of all sizes can participate. If you move up the 103 weight class to 106, sure there would be more people in that weight class, but it takes out the smaller kids. You will see more people going down from 112, or w/e that weight class will be, making it worse on the smaller kids. Now bringing up the statistics about the juniors and seniors making it to state more then the freshmen and sophomores doesn't make sense to me, because a lot of these kids do wrestle most of their life's (the good ones). So skill levels of the freshmen might be the same, but those juniors and seniors are usually stronger. I think that is why most of state is comprised of juniors and seniors, because the freshmen and sophomores that are at the same ability level of these juniors and seniors, just aren't as strong, meaning they don't make it. I'm not saying that those upperclassmen don't have more experience, but I would think that the strength and athleticism they have gained through their high school career gives them more of an advantage, which is why the stats say upperclassmen are more likely to make it. 103 might have a lot of ffs but it also has a lot of great wrestling.
  6. I know nick, and trust me, he doesn't do it himself ;D if anything he would make it have alot of cool points, but from whata I know, he only has one account
  7. WOW!!!!! No offence, but I mean, thats not that bad of a loss, when you look at it, Hall did beat Sandefer, not like its going to happen again, but hes no slouch and he compete with the best of them any loss as a senior is a bad loss.... my bad, a better wording would be that wasn't that big of an upset, when you look at it, and both were seniors that both wanted it, I wish I would have seen the match
  8. WOW!!!!! No offence, but I mean, thats not that bad of a loss, when you look at it, Hall did beat Sandefer, not like its going to happen again, but hes no slouch and he compete with the best of them
  9. I don't know, but sometimes when he talks in person, I wish I could just give him a boo in real life
  10. thats so sick, I wouldn't mind getting my hand on a copy...
  11. I would say 125/130 should be in there, maybe both
  12. if that is how it is then it will be interesting, I personnally like best 2 of 3, just because then the best wrestler would be there, but I guess to be fair for the kid who has been varsity pretty much all year, the 2 match set up would be better
  13. Im pretty sure there isn't a clear cut favorite at 119 either, I would say 119 is harder then 215
  14. exactly, I would pick Trent over Mersich, but, Mersich does have a chance, thats why its fair, thats what i was saying anyways lol

  16. he has to wrestle for the spot, so it is fair, the kid has a chance to win and keep his spot
  17. Technicly he was punished, he couldn't wrestle all season, just because they weren't as stricked as some haters might have wanted them to be, doesn't mean he wasn't punished, I think that it shows alot of character in that young man, he stayed with the team and worked hard all season, even though hopes of getting to wrestle seemed small, I think in the end he gets what he deserved, a chance at the state series, I don't care what u guys think, whether you guys feel he doesn't deserve to wrestle, or if its cause you don't want him to wrestle because hes at mishawaka, I hope that he can show some good wrestling and make a nice run and compete for a spot at top 3 in state, to show you guys how hard he has worked, he deserves it after not getting to wrestle this season. I think you guys should stop complaining, and just congratulate him, whats done is done, and im sure he will show us some great wrestling in this state series
  18. 103: Kyle Ayersman vs Jared McKinley 0-3 112: Anthony Hawkins vs Brandon Nelsen 0-6 119: John Petrov vs Brandon Wright 0-11 125: Jason Tsirtsis vs Cashe' Quiroga 0-14 130: Frankie Porras vs D'Marcus Spencer 3-14 135: Eric Roach vs Chris Goodwin 8-14 140: Alex Surma vs Tony McGinley 8-17 145: Chris Almaraz vs Gavin McGinley 8-20 152: Sean McMurray vs Calvin Sullivan 11-20 160:Mark Myers vs Tyler willis 15-20 171: Kourtney Berry vs Bryce Grimes 15-23 189: Marcus Shrewsbury vs Michael Johnson-Jones 21-23 215: Nathan Cleveland vs Gabriel Berry 24-23 285: James Travis vs Ethan Cuevas 27-23 The region wins 27-23
  19. I didn't understand that but ill take my guess, are you saying more of the kids that would be in between 215-lets say 240ish will come out because they will not have to deal with people 40+ lbs heavier then them, and more guys will come out higher then that because they won't have to deal with the smaller guys that might be quicker? if so thats a good possiblity too
  20. yeah, the weight classes are fine, the problem with the adding a weight class in between 215 and 285 is that there will be even less wrestlers at 285, then if for some reason if they did get rid of 103, the opposers can use that against them
  21. Funny, I don't see anything in this post about 103. Yet all the subsequent posters are freaking out about 103 being eliminated or dropped. its probably because 103 seems to be the most threatened to be takin away, which isn't fair for some of the smaller kids
  22. y should 103 be eliminated? personnally I don't think 103 should be, atleast at my brothers high school, they had 2 103 pounders and had a potential 103 pounder before deciding to stay at 112, it would be the coaches whos team doesn't have a 103 pounder's fault for not taking the time to look around the school for small kids, have your wrestlers try to find kids to fill in the weight class, and you might find that its easier to fill then it seems
  23. The difference between a high schooler who is ineligible and a 20 or 21 year old who graduated years ago is that the high schooler can become eligible, the 20/21 year old can't become eligible, so im sure when they did the rules they would take something like eligibility coming back into consideration
